i mean… i’ve done my research, it is suggested that i take pelt 1 for my build, but i am finding it more and more useless as time goes on. I don’t have the damn patience to level up another guy.

second: with rank 8 swordsman got a huge buff to some builds and even before it, the peltasta is a must thing is old and not true
not joking here, dragoon, fencer, doppel, murmilo, lancer, are all prety strong right now
actually, dragoon and fencer sems to be top 1-2 dps in kTOS, i’m still doing my research to find out what doppel 3 has to offer so i can choose which one to play
and don’t freak out cus u have to reroll, i alredy did it so many times even on 150-200+ chars, it happens to everyone

Ah, so someone else fell for the claims of the masses and took PeltastaC1 without actually knowing how it would play, well that’s quite rich.
If you where going the 2-handed swords route you should’ve known you don’t win much from that, the only reason it’s so recommended is from players of OTHER classes that want YOU to be a sack of potatoes that makes all the mobs come togueter so THEY kill them, but this is far from the potential of Swordsman.
Swordsman can have plenty of other utilities in party besdies Peltasta, Highlander itself is a varied debuffer, which is a pretty good asset, among a few others. Barbarian has respectable damage, if on high cooldowns.
Swordsman is… a mixed bag for sure, and it’s damage takes long, requires preparation and discipline to not fall to the claims of others such as those who force you to take Peltasta.
R8 is shaking the world of the aforementioned Elememes and Fleltchers in KToS, falling appart while I bother to write this for some reason as Dragoons, Fencers, Murmillos and from time to time Dopppels out-rank them in DPS.
You clearly lacked the discipline and patience that takes to play Swordsman in this game, the true passion and dedication of leveling a build of a character that you liked intead of doing stupid things such as taking Peltasta jsut because a bunch of players of other classes told you.
You where not fit to play Swordsman in the first place.
Also, the game itself never adverticed itself as a RO successor, third parties did, the one or two times IMC has mentioned it can be resumed as “yeah we know you liked it, good for you we aremaking our own game now”.
The game draws far more from Granado Espada anyways.

Me? Lacking the discipline to play a swordsman?
Wow, okay. I’ve played wizard (lvl 43 ATM, still feels 100% more effective than my swordsman) , I have a 103 cleric
Both were helluva breeze to level (mage: standard charge pew pew and kite, cleric: throw down safety wall/heals, then some dps here and there, rinse and repeat) and the mechanics of the classes were not so overly and unnecessarily convoluted as the swordsman class. We have to rely on combos that don’t even make sense to be effective. (Throw initial debuff, hope to god it lands/procs) THEN use combos (with skills that then have to go through the trinity of “damage types”) not to mention we have to constantly rebuff ourselves with gungho and concentrate every 50s or so making the class just more of a headache to play.
But if this is to defer everyone from picking the zomg-warrior so brain dead and easy to play, then… Just ugh. I feel as though there are better ways to go about it than just making them so dreadful to play.
P.s. thank you for the constructive criticism posts though, and for taking the time to read my posts. Just have been mad for so long that I’ve decided to let it all out in this post.
Freaking… I mean, yes, this game is no ragnarok, but since it is the same makers, I suppose I should take into consideration all of the theory crafting that you needed to make a good char. -_- I suppose this game falls into that niche of players who like theory crafting and such for their chars. I guess I was just wanting some type of retribution for having played ragnarok online that I suppose I have yet to find in this game. But, as someone posted, this game is IMC and original ragnaron team’s “own game”, so I’ll have to take it with a grain of salt for all that it is.
Will be rerolling and researching my build as many suggest. I mean… I’ve just reached highlander 3 and I guess my class feels a little bit better. Maybe I’ll level up a bit more and make it to doppelsoldner where. Supposedly all of the good stuff is at for the cliche 2handed warrior class that to want to play.

Be a Pelt1 or useless. Thats neither a rule nor a law, its a principle. A principle does not know any exeptions.
So what is the difference if you did not take a rank in peltasta?
Others want you to take that damn rank cause it is the only way a swordman can be viable in a party. Go blatantly against others opinions and the many experiences told means you go solo, Kirito style. Noone wants such a player in a party. If you didnt want to play in a party to begin with, so be it.
Swordman has no potential apart from being a Swashbuckling slave, cause if you cant deliver that, the party could clear the mission/grinding/whatever 4man easier and quicker than with you.

If i had not taken rank 1 in peltasta, i feel as though my dps capabilities could be further improved upon, even if only marginally. I mean, I just got to highlander 3, and the skills gotten make my char feel more efficient in dps. There are parties in which I did just fine without peltasta, with the passive on swordsman c1 attribute.
I guess I just feel… so… unrewarded for having that one rank just for that one skill, but I suppose other classes face this as well in gaining one desired skill that would complete their build.
I guess I have been spoiled with other MMOs I’ve been playing that gave respecs such as wow (yes. I know this is not wow) and such and have forgotten how much theory crafting that was needed even in these games and RO. But man… No type of forgiveness at all for messing up? Lol, Tree of masochism +1.
I suppose I should be posting in the class discussion.

Peltasta is useless end-game other than as a farming tool, if you’re going HL3 or Barb3 to doppel you’ll regret having peltasta at r2.
Having peltasta is not a r̶u̶l̶e̶ principle, it’s just the mind set of the min-maxers who are probably going to reroll their beloved elememes to dragoons after the r8 patch.

i spend countless amounts of hours into my character, try to optimize
him to the max extent towards 2h swords only to find mobs that are
resistant to slash damage,
where i’m dealing 1k to other mobs, i come
across a map that is filled with mobs resistant to slash damage, where i
am dealing a measly 400 damage.
wow mobs resistant to a certain type of damage
what a surprise, wow

PS. I’m also Pierce-only Corsair and do sht damage to those mobs that are weak to Slash you are using. Now what?

You can only say that cause of the queue system. A premade party does things differently. The shouts for pelt are done for a reason.

You want game where you do not need to think at all where you can reroll any stats and skill whenever you want
In short any of countless wow clones
And as Highlander you have Strike attacks as well, unless you do not read your skill descriptions at all.
Do not want to taunt ? No one forces you, it will be harder to get random party though. I have friend which do not have taunt, but you know he have friends. Like me we does not care about super optimal builds and play together. So maybe find a few friends to help you leveling up ?
Btw my 1st swordie is far from optimal but have no problem with any content, can tank any boss and was able to solo most dungeon bosses at lvls when dungeon become aviable and if I am on map where most mobs are resistant to my Z attack (pierce) I can either just wait for skill CDs and use those or switch weapon on skill cd to different one
You know Two weapon slot sets ?
Try to use them.
Don’t mind him, I’m fairly certain he’s one of those people that shout for a pelt for an hour then changes it to swordsman or another dps.
