Rank 9 Theory Crafting

With Rank 9 announcements coming up most likely before the end of the year, i think its time to break down the possible classes! I will be breaing down this thread into different categories based on classes.

Swordsman

Datamined Swordsman Classes:

  • Retiarri
  • Luchador
  • Matador

Out of these 3 classes, Luchador and Matador are most likely to be Rank 9.

Retiarri

This class will most likely focus on net based skills, maybe skills focused on trapping opponents or pulling them? it would be good with Aoe based swordsman classes

Matador

A Bull Fighter, This skill will be an obvious choice for Fencers which is why its likely to be rank 9 as its an upgrade to Rapier type weapons! Most likely used to confuse and aggro targets using a red cape.

Luchador

This will obviously be the most fun class in the game lol. This class will probably be a PvP based class and it will dominate in pvp. Featuring crazy locking and wrestling skills. Plus, you get to create a crazy nickname for yourself so when you enter the arena the announcer can be like " Power Punch" “The Samurai” " Blue Demon" (Actual names) and “El Tigre” ( From a cartoon xD )

##Archer

Datamined Archer Classes:

  • Pied Piper
  • Puppeteer

Pied Piper

http://toswiki.treeofsaviorgame.com/_media/class/class_pied_piper.jpg

A Bard! using a flute subweapon ( From Wikipedia ) to manipulate enemies. it will also be support class and will probably be fun!

Puppeteer

this class will most likely be able to summon puppets. it will probably be another fun class. i honestly have no idea how it will work because a puppeteer seems so different from other archer classes, but how will a puppeteer not be a summoner class? theres a 90% chance it will be a summon class.

Wizard

Datamined Wizard Classes

  • Mimic
  • Onmyoji
  • Shadowmancer

Ohhhh Boy

Mimic
http://toswiki.treeofsaviorgame.com/_media/class/class_mimic.jpg

This class will be annoying af… it most likely will be able to summon clones or copy enemies abilites (probably not because druid can already do that). This class will have many counter attacks and CC abilities and will probably focus on illusions. Theres also a picture of the mimic master already somewhere and omg SHE LOOKS AMAZING!! not attractive but like he costume is great. and seeing as theres floating playing cards around her, this class might make use of playing cards.

Shadowmancer

ANOTHER dark wizard class… i have no idea how it will work, theres skills for summoning a demon in the database as well but those are most likely warlock. this class might focus on fear. but i actually have no idea for this one.

Onmyoji

ANOTHER dark wizard class… or is it? idk. after looking around the internet, pictures seems to suggest that its a dark class, but others suggest a holy type class. anyways, its an occultism class. most likely support. probably will make use of pentagrams and rituals. its related to taoist and will also use science and yin and yang. it will most likely be related to astronomy (like the taoist) and will be the first real life wizard class.

##Cleric

Datamined Cleric Classes

  • Shepherd
  • Lama
  • Zealot
  • Fortune Teller
  • Macumbeiro

Threres 5… i guess rank 10 wont be last rank?? Shepherd most likely rank 9

Shepherd
http://toswiki.treeofsaviorgame.com/_media/class/class_shepherd.jpg

Oh my gosh a dog! this class will be a pet class obviously that makes use of a dog. it will use sheep herding skills to do whatever. im thinking it will be able to set up enemies to help with aoe attacks but im not sure what the dog is for… also at the dev interview they said cleric is getting its first mounted clas at rank 9… so this class maybe? i guess we will be sitting on a poor dog lmao

Lama

This class will probably be an upgrade to monk. it might feature meditation and im confused as to if it will be a dps class or a support class.

Zealot

https://forum.treeofsavior.com/uploads/default/original/3X/f/4/f47607486caa8747bcb96209fa133a90bb741eda.jpg

I have no idea how these skills will be… and this class has the most probability of all the other datamiend cleric classes to be scrapped. if it isnt, it seems like an upgrade to paladin, but it might be scapped due to all the skills that could possibly be given to this class will be too similar to other cleric support classes.

Fortune Teller

This class seems like another oracle… and by lookign at oracle skills, this class will be terrible lol. the costume is nice though. there seems to be different types of fortune telling though, which could give the skillset more variety than oracle plainly just looking into the future. things like pendelums, necromancy, astrology, chronomancy, astromancy, and ouijia boards. i think this class will most likely use Ouija boards and stuff, which seems like it will be fun. but it could also use tarot cards or set up shops in town to sell fortunes to people (like from paper mario, good fortunes = more silver or exp randomly from killing monsters) so maybe it will be more luck based than clarivoyance based than oracle.

lastly…

Macumbeiro

This class has a high chace of not being scrapped, due to the artist of tree of savior npc’s drew a macumbeiro and because tree of savior only has 1 african based class and no brasilian based class. this class will most likely be renamed and will feature voodoo skills so this class will be ideal for bokors. im thinking this class will be heavily focused on spirits and seances and medians so it could also be good with sadhus.

i feel like shepherd skills will be simialar to the ones under the “basic herding commands” section

Let’s hope that Fortune Teller won’t make it into TOS, because IMC wasn’t even able to make a proper Oracle. 2/3 of the Oracles skills are useless nowadays because of the recent changes in ± everything (less CC of enemies, less HP of enemies, less defence of enemies,± no AoE capabilities of normal monsters), so I fear the same fate is going to catch Fortune Teller, too, if he makes it into the roster.

Cleric doesn’t need more lackluster support skills or half-baked attack skills.
Also, Cleric needs more self-buffs and less party-focus to make the base Class more viable in World Boss competition, not only on those builds with PD or Inquisitor in it.

I hope Torrero and Luchador become more defence- and counter-focused Classes, as Swordsman is ± 80% damage dealers already; it’s getting boring and repetitive slowly. I don’t think they’ll be Rank 9 Classes, though.

Pied Piper would be a nice Class as a hidden one, but for a base Class, I believe he should trade his bow and subweapon for a two-handed flute (as you can’t play a flut with just one hand) and open up a new gameplay.
Would be funny if they pulled off the Cobra in a basket-skill to call upon snakes from a pot/basket to attack the enemies

Wizard is the most ominous one, since there would be lots of possibilities as Wizards don’t have any relation to real-life professions. It would be fun to see a Class that needs to sacrifice his own blood to call upon ghosts with possessioning and cursing skills as a main focus for a slow, creeping and crippling Death instead of the DPS or burst focus most wizards tend to have.
Wizard will most likely become the greatest letdown with another 08/15 damage dealer or supporter instead of focusing on real magic involving rituals, demonic invokations, incantations, creating drugs and poisons, mind-controlling and other things.

A Hypnotist could be a great addition to the roster, aside of a Satanist (using magic circles and blood invocations to fulfill his wishes; selling his soul to the devil and ends up dieing in the process of some skills) or Quack (specializes in the use of harmful drugs and poisons, e.g. mercury/arsenic/phosphorous to poison his enemies away while providing his allies with drugs like flying ointment[lets characters levitate while poisoning them], hallucination drugs[makes characters hit faster and more enemies, but drains stamina and silences them] and pain killers[induces internal damage while protecting the user from staggering and knockback] that are harmful by nature [and those side effects should be uncureable by Cleric skills] but also provide some beneficial side effects aside of their mostly negative effects).

Another possibility would be e.g. some West Asian mage that uses a genie/Djinn from a lamp for wish-based magic[i.e. you can decide the outcome of your skill] and flies on a carpet. Awesome much.

Sheperd could be the most versatile of all possible Classes. If they build him realistically, he’ll wield a slingshot as a subweapon (common is Near Eastern/African sheperds) to attack carnivores/monsters from afar with astonishing power and accuracy, while herding his sheep with the help of 1-2 herding dogs (normally you need two dogs if you have a real herd of sheep, but I believe he’ll only have a few sheep if any at all).

It would be fun to see a trainable companion with an A.I. that lets you train the attack and movement pattern of certain skills rather than just executing something else, and enabling your companion to react accordingly to your skills (e.g. your dog pulls aggro if you cast Heal and lures the monsters into all Heal tiles until they are completely used up).

The sheep could be rams with a nice set of horns to provide you with additional attack or defensive power, while providing another stable income by growing, grooming and cropping the fur of your sheep; tailoring the wool into costumes would be a really useful and nice addition to the economic factors of TOS.

My Theroy for Macumbeiro:

im hoping it will be a summon based class, after looking at Wikipedia, theres are 3 different types it seems. Umbanda which seems to focused on contactiong spirits and reincarnation. so i think there might be a ghost summoning skill? (hopefully) or a revive skill . they seem to focus on orixas, which are i guess like divine spirits, so maybe a spirit you can summon to buff allies?

Candomble seems to focus on ceremonies using african music, particularly prescussion. so this might be where the macumba instrument comes in (macumbeiro means player of macumba, wikipedia says) so maybe musical based skills?

Quimanda is more ritualistic and voodoo it seems. so theres 3 types of spirits it says, an exu which is a male spirit and powerful, a pomb giras, which is female and it says they are summoned to give someone bad luck, and ogum which i dont quite understand. so there seems to be different rituals and they all seem to be voodoo based.

either way i hope this class is based around summoning things so i can fit it into my bokor build.

I’m putting my silver on fortune teller being a farming class by either giving debufs to enemies and/or improving drop (exp/items/silver) or/and giving invilnerability with a chance to get double damage. I think either this one or shepherd could be a hidden class

Shepherd looks like CC if they follow the logic behind using the dog to mob and guide monsters, it might complement other by keeping the mobs together.

So much questions about shepard classes, does doggo take a pet slot? I assume it does. With wonky pet AI currently, won’t it resemble hunter too much? Still I want a doggo pet.

yea i also like the idea OP gave over fortune teller being able to buff itself/other people to increase their luck by giving buffs that increase chances of monsters being jackpot monsters or increasing drop rates or something. or maybe a town shop that gives buffs like " Predict Rare Drop " where within an hour u have a higher chance of getting a rare drop, of course it will have bad luck like maybe you take double damage for the duration of the buff. i can see this being very profitable

@fujiwari i would not be suprised if someone named their dog Lawsi xD

Its weird to have a Retiari when we already have Arrest skill and Iron Hook which work both for single and many enemies

The net better work on bosses this time around or else this class won’t be noteworthy.

Cleric is in a bad spot but that’s okay. They are already op.

Wizard is in a bad spot but that’s not okay. Wizard’s rank 8 classes is already crap then rank 9 is still underwhelming. RIP.

Archer should be deleted by imc if they cant provide good classes with it. Looks like only falconer 3 is worth it in that class.

Too early to say but im not having high hopes on wizard anymore. Archer without falconer 3 is on life support now. Meanwhile other classes dont need heavy gear to stay relevant.

onmyoji is sort of like demon summoning and stuff …I gue
ss
puppeteer from my opinion …isn’t really summoning puppet, but controlling your opponent
pretty much shikamaru stuff …if you watch naruto …
or …
kankuro which more of like a trap based puppet (could probably work with sapper)
…pretty interesting really…

As for shepherd, I think its more on religious side of the name, rather than the herding side …which is why its in cleric class.

No where said this. It was just crappy google mistranslation which led to this rumour which was clarified later in ktos thread. Stop spreading false info, sick of correcting everyone.
There is official english version of this which has no such stuff. You can check it yourself.

Although good job on compiling future class info and related RL info.

Well with skills like Chrono’s pass and dievdirby’s Laima statue these classes are still in a good spot.

@marrun I think onmyouji are gonna require materials to use their skills similar to Taoists and be a hybrid support/dps summoner based on some tropes.

Its more of ying yang ki stuff no? …rather than mats

/rant
a bull-fighter and a wrestler…
i swear i still can’t make my peace with these. i mean, look at all the badass classes before R9
barbarian>doppel with a huge freaking sword will become a wrestler?
fencer will become a bull-fighter? what about a pirate? shinobi? a bull-fighter too?
i can’t, i just can’t…

Actually, real Sheperds often became the “angels” (Angelos = messenger in Greek) of god, being the first ones to recieve gods message and then spreading it through the land as they continued to wander around with their sheep.

That’s why a real Sheperd can be a Cleric as a form of missionary working for god directly instead of working for a religious institution.

Its not really angel tho, more of a messenger of god or should I say prophet
like for example, Muhammad (PBUH), the messenger of allah was once a shepherd …
then again I guess all islamic prophet is a shepherd before they become prophet

game class wise tho …I think the class will have quite a lot of supporter buff and some aoe debuff maybe? lol

You forgot one class in swordsman tree, which was an old class they changed rank, to be a latter rank, and has the npc that “disappeared” just last month. And when i say disappear, i think it in fact was moved in the new maps of rank 9 like a lot of people : Centurion.
Having Centurion rank 9, would mean the 10people party system should either already start r9 ('cause you could have up to 6-7people in a formation with gem + divine might), or at r10, since it’s when the c2 of centurion starts, and more interesting things going in its tree etc. ^^

What i was thinking for R9 :

  • Sw : Centurion / Matador (Matador, since it will have some dagger spells or smt, being the next logic class for Corsair/Fencer, things like that)
  • Wizz: Shadowmancer for sure. Maybe Onmyoji as second. (Mimic should be r10, it was said arround one or two years ago that it would be ar10)
  • Ar: I think one of Puppeteer/Pied Piper should be a hidden class, and that we will have a surprise for the second class of archer tree.
  • Cl: Here i am thinking about Macumbeiro/Lama. Why you ask?
R8= Taoist (which buff krivis = r2) / Inqi (which technically buff paladin = r4)
Macumbeiro would buff Bokor (r3) / Lama would buff Monk (=r5)

that’s it for my assumptions. :3
