orsha is easy, nothing is ruined and it doesn’t need no shortcut to complete it in 2 minute 30 seconds or perhaps even less if you have stable ping…
Dunno how fixing an unintended part of the map counts as ruining it.
Orsha is cancer if you don’t use zoomy plus, since the platform positions are not guessable.
In fact, those who don’t use zoomy plus and don’t know the locations of the platforms on the middle part (like me) will just drop and fall without end.
This part was of course intended.
It was never stated as a “known issue” and stayed ingame for 2 weeks with no apparent reason if it actually was supposed to be a bug.
Such a simple fix could’ve been done in 1 day. See how they treated several issues within a few hours/days.
In fact, IMC itself turned the Zoomy Plus addon into an illegal addon, as it is, by definition, now providing an actual ingame advantage over not having&using the addon at all.
How can this be? Are they actually unable to understand what they actually created with the event tracks?
Only Fedimian is manageable without zoomy plus providing a huge advantage in clearing the stage.
If at all, they should have adjusted those cancerous platforms where you cannot even guess the position to make the track manageable without having to utilize an addon,
not removing the ability to shorten the track.
The iTOS-team is just not suitable to manage us as customers.
Silent patches, wrong statements and stupid excuses for their own negligence.
I like how they’re fixing Rainbow Trek, but not fixing any of the other, way more important bugs.
Anyways, just to be a thorn in their side, there’s a very minor elevator skip still available in Fedimian.
Klaipeda alternate route (the one after 3rd attribute) has been rendered obsolete… as they’ve shortened the overall path to just skip it completely.
They also seem to have blocked off the Klaipeda chimney skip, but I guess I’ll wait until I see someone else attempt it.
I can predict every location where my laptop will stutter. Not a joke. Could have a bazillion Chrome tabs open, stutters in the same place. Could have nothing else running besides ToS, stutters in the same place.
The loss of ch 2 also pisses me off, because I really hate loading into ch1 Klaipeda.
Do you realize how ridiculous this sounds? There’s such a thing called an oversight. They assumed players would be going the intended route and not at all straying from it because you’ll be missing out on a few of the attribute rewards.
And it wasn’t fixed in 1 day maybe because they can’t just update the map if it isn’t maintenance. Pretty sure their hotfixes have some sort of limitations on what they can actually fix. And they’ve been too busy with the release of Velcoffer’s Nest that they probably considered this minor issue low priority.
I still fail to grasp how this actually ruins the map for people other than those who abused it (which still doesn’t make sense because you still do indeed lose out on free attribute voucher/s)
Sad that the shortcuts were fixed. They could have at least fixed the moving platform issues, like with the ones near the end of Orsha. Those jostle my jump off course for no reason sometimes.
Maybe next time, have the teleporter place you on the tile right after each lift tile too. I think the holiday parkour event was like that? I don’t remember actually…
These “Wait of Shame” moving lift platforms give me anxiety tho
How are they assuming this? And how could they overlook this? They announced the event on 17th of May, which left them nearly 3 weeks after completion of their tracks to check and fix the tracks.
It ruined the progression as you’ve got to run the crooked and ■■■■■■ up Orsha track now just to get the 1 blessed shard and 2 enchant scrolls.
Using the warp device was not an abuse.
This is because
-
it was ingame for 2 weeks and was never treated as a bug.
Otherwise, this would’ve been announced as a bug, and thus be a violation of the TOS (terms of service) if someone used it.
Since it was never officially stated to be an unintended feature, there was never any abuse in the first place -
The shortcut didn’t provide an advantage over just clearing it normally other than saving time.
If it provides mainly disadvantages (less attribute points per clear), how can this be “abused”?
If they row back on something, they should properly announce the changes ingame.
Just look at the Blessed Gem issue where out of nowhere they stated that not all transcended items will be reset, potentialed and fully refunded.
I don’t think it is any good that they do these changes in secret.
Just look at Nexons patch notes.
They are 100% accurate in other changes, according UI/Graphic changes, bugfixes, etc.
First day of the event I was really nervous and spent about 40 minutes in each map, a little less on Fedimian. Nowadays I know by memory how to do each jump precisely and doesn’t take me more than 8 minutes when I’m not serious. All this without zoomy (I’ve never used addons).
That said, I’d rather not see another jump event again. It was done by the staff thinking it was going to be a popular event, going by the good reception the Christmas one had. But I’ve seen nothing but bitching since it started.
There was this one person who was hyping it up for an entire week idealizing the event (he doesn’t like nor play the game anymore) and then he couldn’t get past the first platforms in Klaipeda, so he went back to not playing the game. Never got around to trying again.
Sure this is just one example, but it’s true, people don’t know what they want.
I know most of the staff is relatively new compared to some of the veteran players, but yeah. People don’t know what they want. This much was made clear when the forum mob raised their torch and pitchforks against IMC when the staggered Founder Pack game release was announced. The result? Floodgates open at once for everybody, resulting in a massive disaster that killed the reputation of the game forever since the staff didn’t have time to address problems within a comfortable timeframe.
The only time you can afford to listen to the community is when you know very well what you’re capable of doing and what you aren’t. When you have full control. And the iToS staff has never had control over anything. They just read and forward suggestions. Hell, I remember the time when they didn’t even work on weekends.
So yeah. I’d rather not have them come up with their own stuff. No, my bad. I’d rather have them port over the kToS events made by Nexon KR directly and be done with trying to be cute here.
I don’t know if others feel the same way… but I just wanted to add… that somehow for me jumping in this game always felt inconvenient… I don’t know exactly what but how the character “interacts” with the edges… the height… the length… I don’t know but something is totally off since the beginning…
You could already feel it in royal mausoleum chapel thingy… or nevellett quarry… or those bit more fresh parts in sausys floors… You can always see people struggling with those… and yes you can somewhat get used to those…but I feel like something feels off with jumping in the first place… maybe compared to other games…what I’m normally used to… dunno
After reading a bit of the comments I’d like to add another suggestion.
It could be a nice idea to add somewhat like easy/hard routes (I know it can be hard to be creative about it but still worth the suggestion).
If we think on runs without errors/falls, a trade of 5-8 minutes avg. clear time for easy route vs 2-4 minutes clear time on a hard route would be appealing.
There’s a reason people likes skips and shortcuts: to save time and get rewards on multiple characters. Also because it can get boring to fall due to technical issues (lag, controller issue we had from previous maintenance etc).
And while we’re at it please make it so only characters of Lv.50, or something else, can participate to avoid abuse so you can challenge players with faster but more complex routes to your heart content.
Another QoL change I’d say is how to exit the event. There was no real in-game info for right-clicking the buff to leave. Having a yellow message on chat like the warn about death penalty on 3-star maps would be useful. (Most people won’t read everything on the event page.)
give us whale events…
My only suggestion would be DON’T REPEAT platform events, because your engine isn’t made for platforming. Give us fun and challenging PvE events.
Yeah, the game doesn’t really support platforming.
currently, if the server performes badly, you just get cut short 50-80% of your jump distance because the server thinks you stopped holding the analogue stick.
Today, I had 2 of these runs, taking me three times as long as usual.
Again, the placement of the platforms and depth-perception in Klaipeda and Orsha is gruesome.
No-one can gloss this over as non-problematic since the Fedimian track is proof that it also works without these problems.
Other general problems:
- Elevator platforms cause useless waiting periods, especially at the beginning of the map
- Some height differences cause phase-throughs or edge-stumbling
- slipping over the edge of the platform due to delayed server response causes a lot of drops, too
- multiple characters jumping at the same spot&time can cause one to jump a shorter distance
- due to the platforms being permeable, they cause a lot of extra bugs, especially when riding a companion;
sometimes, you get stuck within the platform instead of landing on it(when jumping from beneath through the platform),resulting in your character to fall down again - at peak times, when the server is more crowded, it’s hard to play at all, because of the random increased loading times and delayed client<->server correspondence
The worst change was the channel adjustment to channel 1, as now the majority of players, who participate from Klaipeda, are forced to load the crowded channel 1 of Klaipeda every time they finish/abort the Rainbow Treck stages.
By the way, is it just me or do characters with a certain costume type have a jumping advantage over others?
My Kabbalists have it relatively easy to finish the track, but my Quarrelshooter always has a lot of short jumps.
My guess is that it has to do with the Class costume, which directly influences the jumping animation.
It’s not the server afaik (if you lag out you can jump regardless of the server). I think this is mostly client-side lag/stutter. For example, when your FPS is at 70-80+ it’s easier to jump compared to when it’s floating 30-55 with more people on screen.
But still, main problem and most tiring problem for me :x
I also tested restarting my computer entirely and doing some runs, I’m pretty sure populated Klai Ch1 was the culprit, after a few load screens I was having client stuttering all over again.
Just to add on, sometimes it isn’t the lag from the server. From the client side, there are also problems such as input (peripheral) and display (screen) lag. All these need to consider too.
Recently due to shifting to the office to work instead of working from home, I’m attempting to play ToS while on the go with my umpc. While the umpc is working great, there is a slight delay (around 10-15ms) between the time the button/key is pressed. This makes it much harder to time the jump as I’m very used to my current desktop setup at home.
Key sensitivity, a.k.a distance to register a key press is also important. I do recommend chiclet, membrane type keyboards over mechanicals with hard spring triggers as the distance one’s finger need to travel to register a key down for the former is much shorter.
Next is also the display lag, where the monitor has a slight delay showing the action right after the user presses a button. It is better explained here.
That said, we can still do well with whatever peripheral/display we have, we just need to practice more as ToS’s platform event is more rhythmic (easier to time even with some input/display lag) than a fighting game where slight inputs delays is a matter of losing/winning the match.
The jump getting cut short is because the server stops registering you pressing your directional button/stick [which is responsible for how far you jump as TOS doesn’t have any differentiated jumping mechanics; the height is always the same and the length is determined by how long you are holding the designated button for the direction of travel pressed].
This likely happens by delayed response or data loss.
If it’s by the client side, your jump gets distorted (e.g. you jump only half a body height and half a body width), as there is no other thing determining your jump than the jump button and the button for the direction.
It’s not as if this is Super Mario 64 with running speed, angle, slide and consecutive button pressing influence the length, height and the jumping animation.
Also, the client causes display issues (e.g. you see that your character won’t reach the platform but then he miraculously lands on the edge instead of dropping to the ground) and stuttering when loading something, but I’ve yet to see the client causing a “short-cut” jump that doesn’t have a distorted animation.
The most frequent issue nowadays is the server delay that causes the character to drop like a stone in midair.
The server has nothing to do with your jump. Movement is purely client-side, if you go too far you get rolled back as cheat/teleport prevention.
Like, turn off your router (or wait for a huge lag spike, common recently) and you’ll notice the only thing that changes is that the moving platforms stops moving and stay stuck, you can still jump anywhere.
This happens because client-side lag (probably input) and FPS drops.
Except the server still has to be notified of your position, so it can tell everyone else where you are.
Just in case anyone cares, I’m at 516 runs, with 50 Golden Anvils, 48 Attributes, and 49 CM Vouchers. Not quite 10%, but relatively close.
They didn’t fix Klaipeda alternate route. Fedimian elevator skip also still works.
