Questions about hunter and archer

I’m planning to build an hunter for general support.I usually main support builds and enjoy them more than a main damage dealer or defender so the damage I deal does not bother me but I like to increase the damage dealt by my allies.Because of that,I’ve been thinking about making a secondary character. So far,I decided to go Archer 2 Hunter 3 and follow something like the following link: https://tos.neet.tv/skill-planner#311222.1a354a.1f2d31456685

I’m still thinking about the unused points though but I got another questions in mind.

Hunter questions:

I’ve read that coursing’s defense debuff affects in % so a level 15 coursing would decrease its target defense by 72%.Is it true?

I read coursing does not affect bosses but most info I found is related how it does not hold its target but nothing related to the debuff.Does the debuff affect bosses even though it doesn’t hold them?

Snacthing brings flying targets to the ground and make them bleed while increasing slash and strike damage dealt with its atribute.Does it affect non-flying targets?Does it affects bosses?

Praise increase the pets stats but does it increase the skill damage dealt by the pet?

I heard I can get a pet when I complete the hunter quest. Is it true?Which one do I get?

Archer:

Swift step critical attribute affect my allies or only allies with that attribute?

What is Full Draw Skew status?Does its attribute affects bosses?

Thanks in advance for all the answers

It decreases the defense by a flat amount, not percentage.

Not that I have noticed myself. So I’ll stick with no.

Snacthing brings flying targets to the ground and make them bleed while increasing slash and strike damage dealt with its atribute.Does it affect non-flying targets?Does it affects bosses?

It doesnt affect non-flying targets, it affect flying bosses only. Reminder: always use a bow when using that skill, since the bleeding does 2x damage to flying monsters.

Praise increase the pets stats but does it increase the skill damage dealt by the pet?

It increases only skills which their formula applies your companion’s attack…which is Rush Dog only.

You get a Velheider ticket, which can be exchanged for the companion. The yellow fluffy one.

Swift step critical attribute affect my allies or only allies with that attribute?

The extra critical only applies to yourself.

What is Full Draw Skew status?Does its attribute affects bosses?

It’s a kind of snare, being able to joint penalty two targets if you manage to push the target onto another.

First: Hunter 3 is kind of a waste imo (at least PvE-wise).

Coursing is flat and doesn’t affect bosses (mostly, I think there were one or two story bosses that got affected…not sure if bug or feature)
I suggest taking Coursing from your hotkey bar in Dungeons and Missions before you are Hunter 2 as it cause a lot of AI problems.

Snatching only on flying (it’s sometimes unclear what counts as flying though)

All the skills and especially Rush Dog take your pets stats into consideration with Rush Dog solely relying on it. So Praise does Raise its damage (just hope it doesn’t get stuck)

Swift Step only shares the Evasion buff with party members and pet can’t be buffed except with Praise.

What are you planning on taking after Hunter?

Coursing had been answered. Does nothing on bosses, same for retrieve.

Snatching works on bossed. You dont need a bow since companions skills use companion damage (did not test, but this os a conclusion of companion skills in general)
Flying is flying, though all bosses can be targeted by ground effects. Snatch is aoe on small Radius.

As mentioned above pet skill damage is calculated by pet attack so praise does imcrease skill damage.

Hunter and schwarzer reiter/ cataphract recieve the small companion.

Swift step crit dies not apply to Party, when there are 2 archers they overwrite each other swift step and dont get crit buff.

full draw roots a target and if pushback hits a second target both are rooted and share damage recieved. In some cases i was able to root a boss by pushing a small mob onto it. Fulldraw siming at bosses does not work.

Snatching’s bleeding gets its damage doubled if you use a bow while having the two-handed bow mastery attribute.

Just tested, no change in damage.

…Really? I’m certain that it worked weeks ago o_O. Well, that’s fine, bleeding getting its damage doubled by using a bow sounds stupid regardless.

Isn’t bleed just affected by STR and Skill Level? That’s how it is for Crosscut I think.

Your atk scales with the bleeding, but not a long ago using a bow doubled the damage…once I get my PC back I’ll check this out.

Str would be correct if the attack would be not companion.
My 130 hunter has zero points spend on str and bleed hits for 1500 on harpie boss with snatch 5. This is strong enough for a visible hp drop each tick so i dont think str has an effect here.
Possibly test this later today.

tested

  • with the high amount of damage snatching does i would have expected a very high scaling of str. skill attack is 550+ 350pet attack -> 900, results in 1700 on the spiky-things in magetower 1F which is more than attack modifier for armor type. my character strength is only 22, does not fit in. with petamion, vubbe and zachariel bangle -> +21 str would have to be a noticeable difference yet the damage stays the same.

Either my guess is incorrect and its a very poor scaling for a skill that hits hard baseline, or like mentioned there is no str involved at all.

Snatchings damage is based on the Archers stats not the companions.
The only skill based off companions damage is Rushdog.

Yes the 2h Bow attribute will affect the damage of snatching while equipped with a bow. Snatching is Flying monster type exclusive.

Coursing and Retrieve do not work on bosses
Growling used to work on bosses (and it was OP as fuck), now it does not. Still a potent crowd control skill, with the caveat that if ranged mobs start shooting up your companion then you’re screwed.

Praise marginally increases the damage of Rushdog. It is a weak as hell buff, don’t put stock in it.

You get the cheap little rat (You get a voucher from the hunter NPC and redeem it at the companion npc).

You can cause the full draw effect on bosses just not by targetting the boss.
Since bosses are knockback immune you need to take any add that spawns and knock it into the boss. If that mob is also knockback immune then you cannot link the two.

I wouldn’t discount Praise entirely.

While I agree the flat increase in stat is crappy, don’t forget that it also has a movespeed boost attribute.

Maybe not much for PVE, but in PVP it’ll allow your pet (w/ stamina) to get to the target faster. It can even catch up on max trot catas.

If you have spare skill points, level praise up to a point where it can have 100% uptime (i think it’s lv.3 or 4).

Thanks for all the answers…I decided to not make one.I was expecting to be able to do some decent debuff on bosses with it.Though,I like the mechanic but it wasn’t what I expected.

Again,thanks

would be better if you check the hunter thread but I will answer some of your questions

Hunger answers:

  1. Coursing does flat decrease in defense

  2. coursing currently does not affect boss monsters. (the community wishes coursing debuff to at least be applied)

  3. Snatching does not affect non-flying mobs. Snatching works on bosses.

  4. You do get a pet when you complete Hunter advancement. You get a Velheider

Archer Answers:

  1. Swift step crit attribute applies only to yourself

  2. I dont have any idea about full draw, because theres a lot of other skills that can be used against bosses

Hunter Infos:

  • Only Rush Dog skill uses companion stats, the rest uses your stats/damage for calculations

  • Make sure that when you use Snatching, you are using a 2hand bow. With 2hand bow attribute against flying and Snatching: Airborne Enemy Damage, you deal 4x the damage since snatching is strike damage

  • snatching, coursing and retrieve does strike damage (currently im not sure if rush dog does strike damage as well)

  • Hounding does wonders for resetting pet AI when it gets stuck, Retrieve also but you have to approach your pet after casting retrieve to reset ai
