Quest boss drops and parties

Ok so, when you are in a party and somebody starts a story or side quest boss fight you are teleported to the fight and forced to help. Whether you’ve fought this boss or not you get about 10% of the exp as you get the first time fighting it. This is fine.

However, if you fight a boss for a quest you’ve already finished you get zero drops. No silver, no items, no anything. If you have not taken this quest yet you get full item rewards, and will continue to get full item rewards until you finish that quest yourself.

I believe that anyone who has finished the quest should still be entitled to any drops from the boss. Especially since sometimes people do quests slightly unaligned so that you might finish a boss quest and then your friend was behind and helping. Then they caught up, so you go to help him and you get no drops even though they got full drops twice.

It could be a bug, it could be a design choice. I’m not really sure which, but I believe helpers should get full item and silver rewards every time. Not just every time until they finish the quest themselves.

Or if the devs only want you to receive the items once per boss, which seems to be the case seeing as you cannot fight bosses more than once (unless you are partying with someone who has yet to do the quest), they can just give the person items when they have they quest for the boss.

If they do not have the quest, they will not receive the rewards. Otherwise item farming will become a thing by people not completing their quest and only waiting for others to party up with them to try to get the best drops.

I don’t think you understood. You get the items every single time until you have personally finished the quest. Even if you haven’t taken the quest at all. And the drops aren’t exactly anything to write home about and you still need to be helping someone who can even initiate the fight again to repeatedly fight said boss
The only exception to this is if you get to quest complete status and abandon then re-take the quest. In this case it seems to remember.

If you can some how think of a good reason why anybody helping with a boss should not get any rewards besides exp equivalent to kill 4 small mobs, please justify it to me.

I wasn’t trying to contradict what you were saying and was only putting in my own suggestion. I didn’t mean it to sound like I was putting down your idea since it truly is unfair for someone to not receive any rewards for killing a boss if they have already finished the quest beforehand.

Instead of not receiving any rewards like my previous suggestion, perhaps they can put in a system where you can’t join in a boss fight unless you have the quest or if you have already beaten the quest once and a friend needs help beating the boss, you can get a token to redeem at a shop for items (perhaps potions or warp scrolls or something?)

Is this always the case? I was in a party that started a boss fight for a quest I hadn’t taken yet. I wasn’t sucked into the fight and had to wait until they were done.

If you’re too far away you won’t be pulled in.

And there’s not really a point to some sort of token system from story bosses, most of them don’t drop anything special or if they do it’s a 100% drop in addition to the rest of their pool. It would just be nice to get a little silver back out of it, or something to vend for silver when you can easily use a few expensive MP and HP pots during the fight.

I thought you were pulled into a boss fight if you are in the same map as the person doing the boss fight and you have already completed the quest. I can test this by creating a new character and moving to a higher leveled area immediately by using the broken party quest teleport system and see if I get into the boss fight. (also not sure if Party Item Loot has any play in this considering some people put it on random and in order.)

I’ve been pulled into bosses for quests I wasn’t anywhere near doing the quest for. The only times I’ve not been pulled in were when I was too far away on the map.

Party loot is also separate from how boss loot functions.

I was only a couple feet away.
