QS3 or R3 for Schwarzer

You ranger3? just curiosity

Yes. I prefer Ranger 3 over QS 3. But QS 3 is also good.

I will follow your tip 3: 1: 2, con i’m going to get a 50 then 3:2 :stuck_out_tongue: thanks

Keep in mind that with this many points in CON you need to compensate on attributes and gears ><

i would say that 30 invested into con (which is 40 total con and 10k hp and lvl 280 naked) is enough for a farming/pve build especially an SR with high movement speed and burst
plate set will give you 3-4k more hp anyway,
or if you go full dex like me you’ll have evasion

what is your distribution points?

my fletcher got 100 dex 30 con rest str (about 400)
my scout got 40 con rest dex
Both are the same thing, dex will be better at rank 8 imo. Not sure about SR since i never played it
i can only say that ranger 3 is better than QS 3 for pve since i played both

Dex will be better on certain builds. For low base damage builds (like SR) STR will still be valuable :x

We have only 2 rabbits on the forum. This reiter rabbit is the first ET clearing rabbit. You should ask about her reiter experience.

.

this is true, i only like dex because all of my classes got high base damage like musketeer and future lancer at rank 8
but it is true that for classes like SR wugushi and QS str is better.
Now that i’m thinking, i could use another farming class
might make an SR myself since i already got a pet from my cata

Really headache with this QS3 or R3…

But if for skill rotation, QS3 or R3 better?

It depends.

  • You said you want to farm. For farming, Running shot is great
  • You said you want to ET. For AoE dps, Steady Aim is great. For utility during non-dps check floors, caltrops and pavise is great. You won’t just be standing on a corner waiting for fade / or any other conceal skills / tricks
  • You said you’re interested in WB’ing. For short bursts (under 2m HP), if there is a wizard to cast lethargy on the boss, I almost always get top dps with my Ranger3. If it’s higher than that, I believe QS will get better dps
  • For PvP… Both are great. Spiral arrow can be a one shot wonder and QS has caltrops which is great CC, pavise to counter archers (SRs can bypass it with retreat shot) and sustained damage with running shot

There’s no better build imo. They both do great at different things

i’d say ranger 3 for pve and farming purposes, QS is a single target class.

then in terms of investment, which need to spend more? mergen or SR?

Mergen will need to spend more SR just needs a plus 2 skills pistol

And if you’re SR 2 you already have most of things you need for SR 3.

  1. SR has fewer skills to invest on attribute levelling than Mergen.
  2. SR needs to farm for Manamana and a new Lv270 pistol with +SR skill later.
  3. Both have similar transcending costs if you reroll your daily Blessing Cubes 4 (2*2) times a day (1.2m), except if you want to invest on both pistol and crossbow for SR (Mergen just need to transcend 2H Bow)

Check your //ping ingame. If your ping is below 0.15 consistently, you can go for QS3, otherwise go for Ranger3. You don’t want to be a QS3 with high ping as your attack speed is affected by ping.

For disclosure, I have both QS3 and Ranger3.

Ranger 3’s playstyle requires you to melee Barrage your enemy for maximum damage. You will get access to the heavily nerfed Steady Aim Lv.15 (it was +45% dmg buff, now it’s +20% dmg for 10s); which makes this damage buff very situational until you can combine it with 7/8 of Lv10 Glass Mole Cards and Krivis 3’s Meltis.

You also have Spiral Arrow + Full Draw combo which deals multiples of its normal damage to the last mobs linked by Full Draw (beware that bosses and certain mobs resist Full Draw)

As a QS3, you need to consider whether you are lucky enough to get a good ping, a Didel Grand Cross, and a Running Shot gem. Running Shot itself will carry you through bosses in dungeons, fedimian missions, and saalus missions.

Rapid Fire will reduce critical resistance of a boss to zero; majority mobs and bosses at level 280 have 100 crit resistance, which translates to +15% crit chance to your entire party’s physical DPS(100 * 42/280).

Scatter Caltrops + Retreat Shot allows you to CC non-flying enemies while shooting them with Retreat Shot (except bosses and mobs with anti knockdown buffs)

TLDR:

  • Ranger3 SR is more optimized for ET parties, not good at fighting high hp bosses without a proper backup
  • QS3 SR is a ping-based utility character with great bossing capabilities, but lower AoE capabilities due to lack of Steady Aim and Barrage.

This is a line of thought that I will never be able to agree.

Steady Aim was fine before Melstis became popular, nobody said it was useless, now everybody says it’s only useful on Melstis or something. By experience you can expect 2-3k increase in each Retreat Shot hit (around 33 total = 99k on one target) * 10 monsters.

I know this isn’t a good point of view but steady aim alone gives you more total 990k potential damage output if you were hitting 10 monsters at same time during Retreat Shot for full duration.

You can always chain Steady Aim+Retreat Shot. You won’t benefit only from Glass Moles and such. You can benefit from lethargy and all buffs/debuffs that increases SR damage.

Another clarification I’d want to make. Full Draw combo works with anything, depending on monster HP you might want to use Full Draw + Barrage or Full Draw + Concentrated Fire to kill two monsters at once instead of only doing cap-damage on the second.

Ranger 3 have better uses than we usually see people talking about. Other than that I can agree with most things people says on QS vs Ranger.

Also depends on your gears and the meaning. IMHO it mainly depends on play style. You would take only a bit longer (or not even longer) to kill usual dungeon bosses and so. On world bosses SR in general needs proper parties to try to get cubes, so… I wouldn’t call it really a problem.

Also Ranger 3 SR 2 game style really doesn’t rely on ping, even on PvP. You can do fine.

SInce we are discussing RunShot’s merits on another thread i’ll go with a simpler rule:

The great thing about RunShot is the mobility, you already get that with Reiter.

So leave RunShot to a class that benefits more from that extra mobility, aka not Reiters.

The devs are clearly going for that approach, making most of QS kit being unmount friendly. And by that i don’t mean making skills usable mounted alone; QS kit involves holding position while Reiter is a class that’s full mobility, don’t see the contradiction? It’s been there since the beginning of the game

2-3k increase from Steady Aim means your Retreat Shot already hitting 10k-15k normally. It’s still +20% damage buff since your total damage is still around 5 million without it (are you sure Retreat Shot hitting 33 hits? I think it’s just around 3 hits per second, so it’s 30 hits total). That’s a nice damage if you don’t rely on a wizard keeping the lethargy debuff.

Full Draw doesn’t work directly on bosses, several elite mobs, and mobs with Pain Barrier buff in dungeons. I tested again on Mineloader, giant beast elite mob, and black necroventer-alike mob in 130 dungeon. This prevents Spiral Arrow + Full Draw from being used; sometimes I could apply the binding to the black necroventer mob by hitting it through the magic missile mob first.

What I mean is by soloing bosses in Saalus, missions, and dungeons. Average QS3 build always has quicker clear time than average R3 build.
