PvE Hoplite Build

Hello :yum:
I was wondering if someone could help building a good Hoplite for PvE purposes, this is the version that I want to use but I dont know if its good http://www.tosbase.com/tools/skill-simulator/build/k9icw7xm6p/ so please give me any kind of advice possible about what should I change. Also for Stats progression how should it be? I was thinking like 2 STR / 2 CON and 1 DEX because why cant I get some Crits while trying to lower Evasion drop from Finesta.

Thank you!

…someone plz? :cries in spanish:

I can’t see why you chose going Doppel. They do not seem very compatible with Hoplites for me.

Why dont you try Peltasta 2? It will boost your defensive abilities (carefull with some debuffs) and with Hoplite 3 you can maintain a good DPS. Maybe Long Stride and Throwing Spear would be great to have (and they look cool)

Not sure about DEX…

I picked Doppel mostly because the Double Pay Earn skill but also because I think that Deeds of Valor is going to stack very well with Finesta giving me a nice DPS, finally a big + is that I can use Cyclone since it gives me more AoE capability (something I dont really have) and I’d get some round damage since it’s Slash type (+ the Strike from Peltasta) cuz most of my skills are Pierce only which is bad beacuse against someone or bosses that resist it I’d be doomed. The problem is that Finesta + Deeds + Double Pay I’d be very exposed so I think that I would make that up going full CON or DEX maybe something like 1 STR 2 CON 2 DEX. + Armor/Gems

About Long Stride and Throwing Spear believe me or not both are my favorite skills but LS have HUGE cooldown so it would lower my DPS so I picked 1 point for ultility since it’s a gap closer. Now with TS I heard that you LITERALLY throw your actual spear which lowers your attack by huge amounts until you pick it again but the worst part is that you can actually lose it if you die before picking it back or simply you can’t find where it is.

This is my opinion again  if you still believe that I should go Peltasta C2 on Rank 6 please tell me and I didn’t say this at first but THANK YOU! for replying my post

What would be your main weapon? Im confused about this build because of the weapon requirement of the skills.

For example Finestra

Req. Stance:
OneHandSpearArtefact, OneHandSpearShield, TwoHandSpear, OneHandSpearDagger

Really? That is strange… If its true i dont see any use for your build

Do these buffs stack with each other? If they do, i agree putting a little bit in CON. Maybe 2 STR / 2 CON / 1 DEX

It is going to be 1H Spear + Shield always since I could not use Peltasta’s skills (I’m looking at you press C to [Guard] :smirk:) and the defensive capabilty of having a shield (Block) but I know 2H Spears are way better and cooler hahahaha

Can you use Doppel’s skills with a spear and shield? If you positive about this, i think its a good build indeed.

But i would change Double Pay Earn to Punish.

And why 1 point at Synchro Thrusting?

Yes it is possible to use Doppel skills with almost anything :yum: I know Punish can OHKO almost anything but it is a single target skill and I dont know if you can knock down bosses. Also remember that this is a PvE build so Double Pay Earn, in my humble opinion, is a must.

I put 1 point in Synchro Thrusting because I thought it would be ok to have something to use while waiting for cooldowns on the other skills and since I’m going to be blocking the counter attack passive is going to hit almost 90% of the time which power up the damage from the skill so it can chip some hp from the enemy no matter if its lv 1. But if you feel like I should invest it in another skill I believe it should be in Pierce

Ok. I was thinking about this.

Take a look at what i’ve done: http://www.tosbase.com/tools/skill-simulator/build/5wcwha56pc/

Basically, Guardian gives you this: Armor buff and Physical Damage penalty from [Guardian] will be increased per attribute level.

Maybe you can consider this usefull atribute while in dangerous situations, but not sure how this works tho. Need to test this. (Remember not to use with gung ho)

Also, i realocated some points in to Pierce. At max level can pierce 3 times in large enemies like bosses? (927 * 3 = 2781 ATK) and it does have a lower cooldown than Stabbing.

Some other few diferences but overall, i think its a good PvE build to start!

Cool and it’s pretty much the same, maxing Pierce instead of Stabbing makes much more sense because of the cooldown and the damage increase :scream:

I thought Guardian wouldn’t be that great since I’m lvling Gung Ho but how does it works? I mean if I have Gung Ho activated does Guardian skill gets ā€œlockedā€ or I can use it but it overrides Gung Ho (or vice versa)?

If its the second option I’d gladly put 1 point in it since I could use Guardian as last resource if I’m about to die because of the Def Increase and +18% Evasion

Yeah, thats something we need to test. But im more worried about the atribute that guardian gives you wich im not sure how it works.

where did you find this info? description says armor buff increase

If you’re going to test this build, give us some feedback

It is the attribute of the skill, you unlock it by talking to the Peltasta Master

Guardian: Evasion
Increases the character’s evasion by 6% per attribute level while [Guardian] is active.
Max Lv: 3

Give some minutes and I’ll buy a reset scroll to see how Gung Ho - Guardian works

!! EDIT !! - I just confirmed it, Gung Ho/Guardian overrides I repeat OVERRIDES the last skill used :scream: :scream:

Bump!

Anyone have any ideas on stat distribution?

I’ve been thinking on investing in STR / DEX only and going on Plate Amor Mastery maybe 1:2 or 2:1 ratio?

Any comment or advice is welcome, thx!

dex a little of con with plate or full dex with leather, increasing damage of str is sucks

I’m testing an off-tank build with hoplite as core. I think stats should be related to your build, but DEX on hoplite is a good option because FINESTRA, you add more evasion (then you don’t care about the evasion loss + atributte of stabing) and more critical chance.
Then you have CON, in my build (Sword-Peltsasta-Hoplite-Hoplite-.idk) CON its important because BLOCK, you can confirm that CON adds Block, +block of peltasta + Swash buckling + provoke 10. and if you go to full armor plate -15% of damage taken (and some hp extra) = MOBER.

BUT the damage? Hoplite don’t have a good aoe skill (for bosses its really good). When i’m mobing i walk close to a corner or edge and i go full auto-attack (+range of spears and aoe range of autoattack swordman. Splash- finestra- can help maybe, i still not test it). So, you must improve STR not only for the damage (needs a good spear) but Critical attack.

In this case 2STR/1CON/DEX

I have a doubt about swordsman’s buffs, you can use bash to knockdown or/and stun (PVP)
Gung ho i think its not really necessary if you only go for Swordsman 1C., good duration and cd, you can always activate it, but i prefer Concentration and Pain Barrier, this last is important for boss, as you can know stabbing deals a lot of damage but can be canceled for boss knockdown and you don’t want that.

You want to stay near the boss, hold their attacks and stab him to death.

(you add magic defense trough your equipment)

Thats all for now

EDIT: I still have doubts about Gung ho and Concentrate because, gung ho adds Physical damage and concentrate only adds damage. The important thing here is that your physical damage increases your critical damage, and concentrate damage is added after.

The road would be without bash , without pain barrier or some mixture between 4 skills.

Thank you guys, it seems that DEX is the top choice between you two so I guess it’s going to be the main stat of the build now I have some doubts about STR.

@noitora said that the damage increase from STR sucks.
While @nico_fcr said that I must improve STR not only because of the damage increase (I dont know if the increase is good or not) but also because of the Critical Attack which makes a lot of sense to me.

What should I do then?

Also

Could you explain me how is it going to work plz I dont kinda get it because since DEX is going to be the main stat why should I go Leather if my CON stat would be ā€œlowā€ and Plate is going give me those ā€œpointsā€ I didnt invest in CON? Ty

So this is my idea now: 2:1:2:1 (DEX->CON->DEX->STR Repeat) with this I believe that I’d be able to maintain a high DEX while increasing (not much) some usefull stats like Block and Critical Attack

Just to end this long post I wanna say thank you guys again for the help, sry for my bad english and @nico_fcr remember that this is a PvE build (I believe you said PvP somewhere) and lets not talk about skills I think I already have that covered up. TY!

4 pieces of leather give you a % boost in evasion so if you are going high DEX, leather suit is better than plate.

4 pieces or plate armor give you % boost in max HP, so if you are going high CON, plate suit is better

I’m not all in for ratio build, but I think at you will need around 100 DEX for evasion and crit rate, then you can dump the rest to STR or STR/CON as you see fit.

I can see high level players in Korea have like 190 STR and 110 DEX, no CON at all.

mmmh i test 3 stat builds (lvl 78). Full DEX -> a lot evasion, crit chance but not much critical damage: Regular damage
STR=DEX>CON-> with only 39 of CON (only stats, 49 total) have 7.5k HP (120 of Block with Guard active- 600-700 of block lol). Regular damage
STR>DEX -->The best base damage and critical damage of the three.

(autoattacks only)

Maybe change the formulas for each class? idk

I see that most of the mob damage is ā€œstrikeā€ property , so they constantly add 50% vs plate armor. Full plate armor gives -15% of damage taken. Worth it? Idk but the highest physical defense of full plate armor the mob damage (of mobs around your level) its not much. I will try with full leather to see what happens.

I’m doing a pure DEX and CON build, i gotta say it’s. Working out very well.

Once you max out Finestra which give 30% block, plus a bunch of evasion from DEX, the defense seems less attractive

At level 68 I have like 50 STR and 50 DEX and 20 CON. I dodge around 20% of the hit. If I pour all STR and CON into DEX I would dodge a lot more, at the cost of only 50 base damage and some critical damage, but bossing would be easier.

It seems the best way is to go DEX first until you have sufficient dodge, then pour into STR to get damage, because I guess from mid game (lvl 80-100?) mobs begin to hit hard, so dodge = survive to fight another day.
