You can’t change people from acting like idiots no matter how much you preach to them. IMC can influence change by making idiots think before they act with some simple forum moderation.

These posts just fuel people’s desire to troll and act even more uncivil and, in no way are they going to influence people to change. Even if it seems like we’re projecting the blame to IMC, it still is IMC’s fault for neglecting moderation.

I just see no optimistic approach here. It’s simple human nature at work here.

I totally understand and agree.

But the community should still accept some of the blame, after it goes on for so long one may start to wonder just how much moderation would be needed/be okay.

People should be able to speak their minds, but personally attacking other posters? I would just like to think that people would see that there is no reason for that (As wrong as that thought is)

But yes, more moderation would fix a lot. Even volunteer mods with less power would help the situation.

i am actually very surprised there is little forum moderation since this is after all tree of restrictions

Maybe the only reason reddit seems better is because it HAS moderators.

Wouldn’t know, never been on the Reddit lol (well kind of I guess. Don’t spend much time there)

I’m just speaking in general and what not, I like this game, and parts of the community.

In the end though, no amount of moderation will fix a bad community. Look at League, their community is godawful and last I checked, Riot watches things like a hawk and the fact the community is bad does indeed stop/prevent people from playing. It is just harder to notice it since the game is so popular.

Do I think it’ll hurt something like ToS though? Most certainly.

Yep… I don’t play League for this exact reason lol. However I just want to point out that my experience with people IN the game has been pleasant. I think it’s fair to say that the people who frequent the forums don’t represent the overall toxicity of the community actually playing the video game.

the moderators don’t need to do anything on reddit. you just get down voted by regular user when your posts are stupid.

Thats a flat out lie. I use reddit and have seen moderators intervene in many different reddits.

Oh? That is good at least.

Personally, I would always look through the game’s forums before I played it. I don’t know how many are like that as well but, one look in here is probably enough to turn a lot of people away. Though I do know it isn’t really a close comparison to the community in game, it can be a glimpse at times.

Even worse though, if a newbie checks out the forums after playing for a little while, the experience can really make or break things for them.

But now I feel like we’ll be running around in circles soon lol, was a nice discussion though.

Well, generally, they either genuinely want the game to be all it can be, and can’t stand to see it falling apart in front of them…

or they’re getting off on annoying other people.

I hope it is the former ‘^’
