Preliminary beginners guide to Clerics

Hi,

So I decided to start a new charactet instead of the messed up cleric/krivis paladin-wannabe chaos. My question is, with paladin3/pd, should I go entirely full STR, or should i put 50/50 to con/dex. I mainly intend to pvp.

Also, how well paladin/pd s do in pvp in general?

pvp would require a dex/str mix, not sure what ratio is best for it.

But paladins are horrible for pvp, because:

  • Barrier’s knock back doesn’t work in pvp, allegedly.
  • Conversion and turn undead are entirely useless in pvp.
  • Melee attacks in general are hard to hit when enemies are kiting. (and due to stone majority of enemies in pvp atm are wizards/clerics )
  • Smite is even worse as it has a charge up time, and it is your main dmg skill.
  • Paladin dmg only excels vs demons and mutants.
  • Your dmg is easily countered by stone skin.
  • Your defenses aren’t that good at all.

Uhh, thats really sad to hear. What about 2v2s or gvg s? Im actually kind of disappointed now in my class

In 2vs2 stone skin and condi prevention seem rarer, but the kiting is still going to be a major issue.

Really wouldn’t build a paladin for pvp until someone finds a way to make it good there.

I’m a new Chaplain (lv 1 of the class). I have some questions…

I’m following the Chap + PD build with INT but my damage is very low (something between 100-200, sometimes more with all the buffs on).

I’m level 127 and saw a lot of Priest with 450 or more of dmg

What I doing wrong?

PS: Sorry for english errors

I’m not sure what kind of Priests you saw but with an INT build your main damage will come from Aspergillum. Aspergillum is affected by your Aspersion lvl and its enchance is quite important.

Did you grab the blessing attributes? And the aspersion enhance attributes?
Alongside those upgrading a hammer should add quite a bit of dmg as well.

Yes, I’m upgrading the skills.

I’ll upgrade my hammer to see how it works

Thanks

And aspergilium takes 1020 dmg

I’ve heard that chaplain at level 100+ should deal around 1.5-2k damage with auto with good equipment and maxed attributes.

Not sure how can you deal only 100-200 damage, you should use level 1 weapon for it and never buff yourself to deal that low damage.

With maxed Sacrament and level 3 blessing with level 25 attribute you will already get 226 additional damage, and with sac and aspersion it’s MUCH higher.

man i cant believe the capella can GET HIT BY AOE AND DIE thats so disappointing >>

Yeah, that’s why you should put it behind and not in the middle of the battle.

Most of summoned objects are killable.

seeing as the area is small, wouldnt it only hit the ranged tho?

It’s goal is making a zone where you can reenter to reapply buffs. With maxed attributes you don’t need to reenter to often, and it will only take a few seconds.

Also this way you won’t accidentally erase important buffs from your allies, as they will enter only if they need. When you put it in the middle of the battle, you can erase for example your wizards quick cast/sure spell etc.

Do you know for sure if the attribute affects the buffs duration from Capella and not the Capella itself? I always wanted to know that.

i see, thanks!

its a shame it prob wont work in pugs then, as they often dont even know what the purple circles do, much less a capella…

in the krivis/paladin one, would i even bother getting zaibas seeing as i wont have any int?

Yeah, get it anyway to help leveling a tiny bit.

Mostly because aukuras/zalciai aren’t important to max at all.

level 1-2 Zaibas is pretty nice, I often use it on my monk for some additional damages, it has good base damage and scales with your mace. Also it will deal 1.5x or even 3x damage to some monsters. If you go only Krivis1, then suggested build is 5 aukuras, 3 Zalciai (for attribute), 5 daino and 2 Zaibas.

How exactly does Vakarine work? Is it like Teleport Scroll in that you can go back right to where you were?

Or is it just a one-way teleport to a town/Vakarine statue?

It acts as a regular statue, so you can not warp back to where you last used it.
