Safe to say the rebalance failed , and the population is back to dropping again…
Makes sense as the rebalance wasn’t really a rebalance.
They need to do a proper revamp where they alter the skills themselves, not just raise or lower the %'s (or in this case change them into %)
Certain classes are pointless due to the lack of skills, others because skill animations are clunky making the time taken to use it not worth the damage they give. If it wasn’t for the fact it’d take absolutely ages and would either make or break the game even further I’d suggest they do a total revamp.
Biggest thing though, can’t they lower the required ranks of classes.
Keep a max rank of 10 but all ranks are unlocked by rank 7 and instead of 2 classes per rank have 3. That way more builds become viable. My biggest issue is, and probably the same with a lot of other people, they have to pick up filler classes for a specific build because a class they want isn’t available until a higher rank. As a result they pick up a class they probably never use the skills for.
This can also be used as a warning light for Hidden classes as if only 2 new classes are available for a rank you know to go on a hunt. (Except for the fact we have the internet and most people know about hidden classes from pretty much any tos skill building website.)
What they should have done would have been to split the tree between:
Attack, Support, Wild
How these classes are defined are based off whether or not they’re mage, cleric, warrior or archer.
As support for a warrior would be a tank, where as for mage it’d be a buffer like thauma or chrono. Cleric a healer etc.
If you think about it this whole rank thing with a large amount of customisation isn’t exactly unique or new.
Yes it’s different but it’s just a spin on other games where at the start you’d be able to pick any 3 class options out of a larger list. The difference being each of those classes were useful individually and depending how they were combined brought out their true power. What this game has is something “Unique” but actually far more limiting. As the higher rank you get the less customisation you have due to how each class goes to rank 3. If you pick 2 classes for rank 3 (3 by the time rank 10 is release), that’s it.
Which is one reason why it’s even worse to have to pick a filler class. As for each filler class you have to pick for a build you’re lowering the potential of said build. (Another option against the altering how ranks work would be to make it so all skills are obtain by rank 2 and rank 3 is purely for attributes and a higher level. That way you only have to pick rank 3 if you want to buff the power and/or utility of already obtained skills. (Like how Linker tends to be maxed out at rank 2 rather than 3))
I still don’t know why people call it rebalance or renewal while all it was is simply the basic game mechanics going from pre-alpha stage to beta.
Because “DEF - ATK = Damage” is literally some kind of quick prototyping you do when you first start developing your game. Now we have something a tiny bit less dumb but still rather broken and unbalanced.
We’re calling it a rebalance because it broke some classes making them useless
The game became p2w what did u expect? It will be just more one mmo like everyone else, p2w, repetitive, unbalanced, bugged, etc…
Yea I agree, the rebalance didn’t really balance anything, but made the game p2w.
You can be strong without spending money, however it will cost just a little amount of silver to:
Get strong weapon, enhance that: 40~50m
Get strong gear: 15m
Level your skills to lv 70~100: 100m
Level your skill cards: 30~40m
Get good gems for your equips: 15m
Get good transcendence: Idk how much cost but must be expensive.
A lot of effort for a boring game :S
Ya too much effort for no real endgame still. Gotta repeat it for r9 too.
I attribute it fully to
Lack of content. Game now feels more like a item grinder due to 70+% of damage and defence coming from gear and not stats, but there isn’t anything to grind for except for 1 item in each equipment rank.
There is no “oh what else can I grind for after getting the 2 practo orange/solmiki equipment”.
So much unlike other item grinder games, where the amount of maps are like a tenth of what ToS has to offer but they offer so many alternatives to top end equipment so that the player has lots more to do after completing the initial set.
Nice joke… more like 1b+
game is fine plz ban every1 who say no kekeke #FFFFFF
In my POV, there’s a few reasons for population dropping again, some of which aren’t actually related to the game:
-
Other games
-PH just relaunched Ragnarok Online officially, i believe some of players here in TOS probably moved, and the relaunch was regarded as a success (inb4 iRO released ro-restart kek).
-The update for FInal Fantasy came too, right? (sorry not very familiar with this one), from what i’ve read it seems that it’s successful.
-the recent steam sale, i am actually still downloading some games i bought, and also testing and playing those games too. Some of my mates are doing that too.
-OW, hype for Doomfist -
No time to play
-from where i am, June is the starting month of students going back to their classes. Students probably have lesser time to play.
-personal reasons - my current job takes me to far flung places where i can’t play games on my free time. The amount of travel i am doing seem to increase at the moment. -
Game related
-updates not coming fast to iTOS. TBH i was surprised that the rework came here so fast. I imagined it would arrive here by June/July. Then after that i expected much of those updates, especially DPK removal. To my dismay none of those significant changes have come here yet.
-“not so good” event. This is just my own opinion. The current Hayraven event is really lackluster compared to previous events. I am struggling to complete even 1hr ingame. I can’t afk much either because i might easily get disconnected (even though my connection is fine). Furthermore it seems that some instances isn’t included as “time-in” such as Saalus (is it just me?)
Instances dont count to the 1 hour timer because when you enter an instance, you technically leave your home server and join an instance server. The timer doesn’t keep track of your time within the instance server. Meaning, you either have to afk in town, go questing, farming etc in order for your timer to keep going.
Kinda ironic for a game whose many features depends on instances. I’ve played another game with instances and “login for XX minutes/hours” events. As far as i remember, in that game, being inside any instance is counted.
And yes i am quite locked to afk-ing (like i said can’t afk much - as in really away from PC doing other real life stuff, then i come back to realize i got dc’ed) and questing (i still have a few r8 maps to quest to, but it would probably be over in the next few days)
Was telling my guildmates…
Something is really wrong when I find that working my day job is more fun than ToS.
It has begun yet again. Tree of Chores. Till the new Klaipedia and R9 hits, my fellow saviors.
Actually the Rank system is similar to other MMORPGs classic linear advancement system. Class A advances to B and then to C and so on.
TOS just gives you a little more freedom as you decide for yourself when you want to advance to which Class fit for your level.
This allows the devs to give higher ranked Classes more useful/powerful skills.
It’s kinda lazy, but still just the basic MMORPG Class advancement.
If you don’t like it don’t play MMORPGs in the 1st place, because most of them work this way.
This also makes your statement on “filler classes” obsolete. There are no filler Classes, there are only specializations/skill acquirements on the long way to glory.
Think of it like the usual MMORPG skilltree restriction that has skill prerequisites you have to skill to get access to a certain skill[e.g. in RO, you need to skill Aqua Benedicta to get access to Aspersion which you need to level to level 4 to get access to Magnus Exorcismus; in most of the cases, you won’t need Aqua Benedicta anymore because monsters drop holy waters]. Here you have to take certain “Classes/specializations” to reach your desired Class/build.
Same thing/restriction, but less meddlesome and more useful as you have a certain degree of freedom. I like it.
Ah, btw, Rank 10 won’t be the last Rank. You can easily count it for yourself if you count the level caps. It’s ~50 levels per cap, so Rank 9 starts at 330 and ends at 380. 10 is 380-430. That’s nowhere near the targeted 500-600 levels. Even if the level gap is increased, it will most likely be Rank 11 for level 500 or Rank 12 for level 600. And remember, that’s only the cap which marks the end of Open Beta Test.
Any MMORPG that ends leveling will die sooner or later, so new caps with new content in form of Classes/skills/whatever will need to come out periodically to keep them alive. TOS will most likely advance at least until Rank 15, given the current progression, but it’s safe to plan ahead for Rank 11 or 12 to be the preliminary cap for the current OBT, not Rank 10.
But back on topic: The reason why players are not playing is because the game is still in the toddler phase and IMC has a rather indifferent approach towards it.
What’s worse is that their announcements and course of action doesn’t have a big intersection, at least according to bug fixes and rebalance-attitude.
Neither their Talk-Talk nor their balance talk issues were followed by the developers, it’s like you’re given the blueprint of a train station and told it’s the blueprint of your house…
I mean where are the readily available Blessed Shards they talked about? It’s still Tree of alts farming forever just to get a freakin weapon improvement[i.e. transcendence] that’s worse than a few anvil upgrades on one-handed weaponry.
Gear is still hard to come by, as there are no satisfying readily acqirable options for high levels. Still locked behind ardurous farming which requires equal gear or better just to farm the stuff efficiently and/or RNG[Practonium Cube,Hunting Ground Cubes+Identification]. The new unique accessories require you to farm lots and lots of stuff to craft item into item into item.
Where the heck do people find the time to do all this just for a single game?
The new fishing system is tad useless. Same goes for new Klaipeda. Who the heck needs this when the game is in a dire state?
There’s so much more to rant about, but that’s basically the reason why the population drops. People simply don’t have the time and nerves to play the game “efficiently” according to IMCs developement, that’s why they stop playing.
Adeodatusv2
Aren’t you banned why are you back again?
Other action RPGs have all sorts of itemization options for exploring new builds and ways to play the game, unlike ToS’s itemization which is like, one of the most boring itemization things ever both in terms of the items themselves AND how to acquire them (most ARPGs have their end game items droppable by almost everything, whereas in Tree of Savior it’s only from very specific things, some of which get monotonous really fast).
Normal non-action MMORPGs have more interesting and more feasible end game activities than Tree of Savior does, too. So Tree of Savior basically loses to both ARPGs and MMORPGs when it comes to end-game content. Once you hit level 330 (or even a little before that, really) and gotten all your skills for your build from levelling, the game’s just… depressing because you’re pretty much finished in terms of INTERESTING ways to progress your character. The funnest part is when you’re levelling and getting new skills to play with, but after that’s done (and now it can be done in like, one day), there’s nothing else to do that’s any fun.
They either need to introduce more content (R9 and the new maps to go with it) or completely overhaul how loot and getting loot works. Or at least find other ways to distract players. In IMC’s other game, Granado Espada, for example, you were encouraged to spend/waste time levelling other characters too simply because Team Level gave stat bonuses (instead of just the exp boost you get from it in Tree of Savior, which you probably don’t even need any more by the time your team level is high and even then, well… it’s not like an exp boost is very useful in a game where you can reach max level in a day anyways). In Diablo 3, when you hit max level, there are still nigh infinite paragon levels to get. Etc etc etc.
Rank 9 won’t save ToS, will just give it a nice bump that will last a couple of week and that’s it. Veteran players are also tired, not much hype around anymore. If core issues of this game are not fixed, if P2W mechanics are not removed, it’s doomed, not to say already dead. IMO, IMC and Nexxon don’t care about TS anymore, they’re just milking everything they can for now to keep developing the mobile version of the ame, where P2W is common, hoping to make the pretty penny out of it, and they sure will, it’s a different (even dumber) target. So sad though, this game had such an amazing potential it makes angry the way they’ve ruined it.
