Population dropping again?

Im sick if people saying this thing. Everyone here is a working adult, most of player are between 20~40, myself have job and childrens. And you know what? You even don’t know who are the big spenders or whales. They’re lucky people with a light job and become from a rich family, even they’re probably the people that spend most time playing. Normal people with normal jobs wouldn’t waste hundreds and hundreds on a game. Do u even know how much u have to invest to be a top player?

I can tell u i regularly buy 300 or 500 tp every month for cosmetics and maybe a token, but that amount of money never would take me to the top. I have an orange double prac weapon at stage 4, that took me 3 months to achieve. To get 2 prac i would probably have to invest like 200 hundreds, to get the materials 200 more and 50 to trascend. U tell me normal people invest 500 box in one weapon? I don’t think so. I prefer to pay bills with that money.

Other thing i want to add, why you would invest so much money to be a top player if currently there is no end game? Pvp? Anoracle-kabba-inqui with mo gear can beat u and doens’t matter if you are full trans 10. Et? You don’t need luxury gear for et. So what’s the point? So please stop saying this stupid argument. Everyone here is a working adult and i can bet you that people that most spend time playing is the people that has invest the game more than everyone

I wish Tree of Savior hadn’t released, internationally, as early as it did and in the state that it did.

You only have one chance for a first impression and only a handful of second chances. The first chance was squandered and poorly executed. A resurgence at this point is unlikely, however it is not impossible.

It’s more likely that the show-runners are maximizing profit while they can, but perhaps they have a new game plan. I can only be hopeful. This game had, no HAS far more potential than it’s realizing…

Wellll, this got boring already. To sum up, I believe we’ll have to wait a year or so and see what happens to ToS. Sometimes I miss playing, still have a little hope

TERA isnt a B2P or Subscription game. its a free game. so ToS going B2P wouldnt increase the population. most people quit because of the grind and lack of end game content (atm bcuz endgame is really like 10 years away), not because of exp tomes and tokens.

Still remember when Tera launched, around u$ 60 for the game and 15 or so monthly. Anyway, never liked it, mobs were static, quests were boring as hell, nice graphics, though

m8, you need to calm down

I get the point of what you’re saying, but my opinion will stay the same.
Honestly, you spend monthly more than me, since I don’t feel the urge to spend money on cosmetics/getting geared. The point is, following your same arguments, even if the game hadn’t P2W aspects, it wouldn’t change anything: if the ones who spend more money are the ones who spends more time, you won’t get on par with them even in a F2P context.

I don’t get why you’re so angry. You say yourself that you see no reason to invest that much money, why bother about what others do?
Sometimes I freak out as well on whales, but by the end of the day, as you said, they spent money for no reasons. Have a laugh on them, if they invest that much on a game without purpose it means their RL is not that satisfying to begin with.

Oh i don’t mind whales nor p2w, just don’t say, hey kid we here have to work/study because everyone here has to.

That’s is the point.
Totally agree again.

Why bother about whales?
Why bother about be top PvP player?

In all MMORPG are the same: Top players are people with no life, with much time or money to spend (probably both).
I don’t care if whales are strongest, in RL they’re weakest type.

This game don’t deny my access to high end stuff, so I don’t care if I’ll get later without spend my life.

Whales always will exist, forget them and play your game, take your time.

Well, yesterday I came back and started a Wizard out of boredom, but with only one premise, no spending any real money at all. Btw, was surprised how fast you can level up now, It’s almost a joke, lv150 in less than two hours

It’s kinda like diablo 3 where you like max level in 2-3 hours but then need to spend a lot of time gear farming afterwards and repeat it for every new “season”. The only difference is that you can spend money here to speed it up xD

there’s a big difference, since in diablo 3 getting decent-almost op gear is easy, wich makes everything more fun but finding the perfect one a pain in the ass(is a lot more rewarding), in here… you just don’t spend a little to get it faster… is just plain stupid, the game look like it was dessigned to rmt and “p2convenience” the difference is pretty huge, getting a trans item to a decent stage (5 or above) takes time, not even thinking about farming for orange 2 practo weapons, plus you need to upgrade them to make it worth and next come gems and awakening, after that cards, then attributes…(not considering the stupid sissels and max peta or the three headgears) the frigging silver required for that is abnormal… if you don’t have like 3 necro farmers or a lot of time to play the game (almost 4 hour daily just to do daily’s with multiple chars) you will never be able to catch up to those who “paid for convenience” because the quantity of time that you will spending just doing dailys (for shards or silver) for gearing yourself is stupid since the game has things like “team level” more like practo quest alt, since gearing one char takes to much time, dont even think about another one… and don’t come around telling me it isn’t mandatory to be a bis player, but when you have world bosses, a ranking system for dps and a pvp&gvg wich make you compete against another people then is plain unfair… but then again… is f2p kmm and they need money from something because face it… a normal person would never achieve that.

No the answer is yes.

Population will always drop down when there’s not enough to go around. It will peak again once they release rank 9 or whenever they do some major fixes to the game.

Back to 4k.

Waiting to see -50% or more on Steam Charts for this month.

Population boost was mostly alternate accounts and returning players. If that was really new players we would have a surplus of Tokens.

Something I’d like to see, is possibly some exposure from a large creator or media. Though I would bet the servers couldn’t handle such an increase if that happened.

However I am pleased with the updates that took place recently. :peach:

TOS had several Youtubers playing this game for the first 3 months. Unfortunately lag, fps drop and lack of content killed it’s momentum. TOS should have copied H1Z1 strategy and present the game as Early Access. Indie developers are using this strategy primarily because they can charge $15-20 for a semi-finished game and they earn a lot of money through cash shop. Why is charging a few bucks important? Because it creates a barrier of entry for the players that want to play the game. Indie developers at most can only support 10k players. When TOS was released the peak player count was 50k. It’s almost as much as an AAA game. IMC could not handle that number and caused a lot of problems due to unoptimized engine, terrible netcode and limited number of servers. Another good reason why Early Access is a good idea, when you do a Steam sale you get free advertisement. Yes TOS is in the 2nd page of F2P games list BUT it is not the same as getting advertised in the front page. Click your Steam right now H1Z1 is in the special offer list. That’s free advertisement.

If I remember they tried something similar – calling it a fixed-length exclusive access period rather than open-ended early access. Obviously there are important distinctions here, the former implying that it’s a finished product but I think the intent was similar, to address any issues / feedback. If they had advertised it as early access they would have managed the expectations of their audience a little better.

In the end, I think they dialed back the length of time when the forum cried that those who paid would get a head start, and being an MMO, I’m thinking this uproar might have happened whether it was exclusive access or early access.

Right now I think they need to work on momentum - they need to be releasing new content and updates at a frequency that keeps people interested. Otherwise by the time they do release a new rank / long term content (such as revised world-bosses and PvP) they are going to make things harder for themselves by launching from an even unhealthier popular figure; and the bumps back down to minimum population will continue. The last few weeks have been brutally empty.
