I don’t play as much as before so i prefer F2P. IMC games said it would be F2P that’s why i’m interested in Tree of Savior.
I think F2P is the smartest choice really, if only for the huge boost to game population. WoW had to learn the value of actually having lots of people in your MMORPG world the hard way with their latest expansion. They made it so you didn’t really need to go out into the world, almost everyone stayed in their player housing most of the time and now Blizzard are trying to fix their stuff-up and get people interacting with each other again.
F2P will make the ToS world a busy place full of interaction, and thats pretty much half the effort of making a good MMORPG IMO.
Personally I would love a P2A option such as EXP boosts, even if they are expensive because I work a lot now and cant sit on the computer for weeks on end like I used to with RO. Giving the option for speedier lvling for a price would make the game more accessible for me, so I could play it short periods after work and not feel like I’m getting super left behind. Thats just a personal hope though, I’m sure there are many other considerations when deciding what cash products to make available.
One major downside of F2P model is that it’s the most susceptible to gold buyers and bots.
Having to pay for every farmer, mule, bot or chat spammer account as they get banned again and again does slow them down considerably. Being able to spawn zillions of “dkfgsdfghsdfk” (or similarly named) clones for free to spam, farm etc usually leads to a considerable headache for publishers/developers, not to mention it’s anything but fun to be unable to properly use global chat because of countless spammers or having to right click and blocklist a dozen or two of them every time you log in.
That said, B2P+cosmetic cash shop does sound reasonable.
F2P?
Do you want to put tanks in a mall? Because that’s how you put tanks in a mall.

P2P model forces people to play just for the sake of playing to use the paid time.
No no, that’s not good for anyone with a busy life.
I prefer the subscription model, but I doubt they will consider it or b2p. F2p is almost certainly the direction they are going with this game.
I’m sorry but P2P and B2P games have bots too, and gold sellers. That is not a valid reason to have it be P2P or B2P, not that it’s even under question here.
I chose P2P for the reason that to avoid having a messy community… I live here in the Philippines and every Filipino Online gamer knows how toxic the gaming community is when it comes to a F2P Online game…
oh so if ToS is F2P you wont play it? @_@"
monitary barrier dosnt remove toxic players… it will only limit them XD and philippines is not the only toxic player out their wink* wink*
right, also it limits the money devs can get, which also i dont like
Of course I will still play Do I even have a choice?
Id rather have them limited than to see all of them wreck havoc -__-
It’s a very valid reason to switch from F2P to one of those models actually. Although the Developers could arguably earn more money from running an F2P with a stocked Cash Shop model, they also run the risk of an inflated economy much earlier than expected if protective measures aren’t taken (Example - Aura Kingdom). If the Devs can’t have protection on this game for this type of thing by OBT, then I’d definitely be for it being B2P with practically the same Cash Shop. Otherwise, F2P. P2P is out of the question.
World of Warcraft is buy to play with monthly fee.
It’s filled with bots and the economy got ■■■■■■ by them.
P2P fixes nothing but keeps actual potential players away.
oh @_@" another problem iguess XD
lol true >_<"
the game is F2P… ull just have to bare with it i guess
condolences
@Sixaxis What your saying can/might be true.
But the argument of it preventing bots/gold sellers is false. I’ve played plenty of B2P/P2P games with bots/goldsellers.
That is what I was referring to.
Aura Kingdom had an inflated economy? What?
What you’re thinking about was Aura Kingdom’s lack of an efficient gold sink. Their cash shop was fine.
I would P2P if the game support and content update was frequent. If I’m paying a monthly subscription I want to feel like I’m getting value out of it.
F2P yayyyyyyyy
but im ok with vip bonus like iRO and please not so P2W
So i suggest f2p for the 1st year and see how it works out
World of Warcraft is probably the only subscription-based game where bot accounts are profitable despite many of them being banned. It simply has an overwhelmingly large audience and thus, a huge number of potential clients for gold sellers.
No other p2p MMO can boast such numbers, which in turn, makes them all less profitable for gold sellers/farmers.
P2P and b2p models by themselves do not provide insta-fix type solutions to RMT problems, they just make it harder to make a profit out of them, which is a good thing, IMO. Less profit = less incentive to bot and spam since they’re not doing it just because they’re evil and love to annoy the hell out of legit players, they simply want money.
