Please Keep 3 servers!

Hey, @IMC

I noticed that you been going on and off 1 to 3 servers all day. Was hoping you will keep 3 servers up for the beta test. It would be really amazing.

I really doubt you would fit 150k people on 1 server. WHen I played iCBT1, it felt like that the population was to dense to support the areas at sometimes. I hope this is considered.

I instead prefer having just one server. More channels if necessary. My opinion against yours

I agree with this. Just a day ago, everyone was freaking out over which server to play on. The whole point of this being international is so everyone can play together. It defeats the purpose if you just split everyone up again. Given it’s worldwide, it’s not like everyone will be on at the same time anyway. You also have to consider that many of those registered may not even play in the first place.

100% agree with you there, 1 server will end in disaster, like absolute disaster!

who knows what they are doing, they could be running maintenance on the other two servers.

The idea of making channels instead of servers is pretty good, @Takuya

It will not be able to handle the load, it will end up with a non functional server. and then nobody can play!

Channels were already a thing in the first beta. There were 5 of them if I remember correctly. If people are that worried about the huge amount of players, there could be, I wouldn’t know, 15 of them. 20.

I’ll go with this. I don’t see why else they’d remove two servers. Unlike the first CBT, there is no limit to how many can join this one.

I’d understand removing just one of them, but leaving just one of them would be a really bad idea at this point.

Actually, it’s not really about your opinion, but more about networking limits and networking video game development technology.

It’s very unlikely that all 200k+ registered people will login at the same time. Timezones and daily duties make this near impossible

It’s very unlikely one computer with the game server could handle more than 10~30k+ people without distributed computing. (bandwith and computer spec issues)
And I’m pretty sure no mmo tried to use the technology yet since it’s far too complex for what it’s worth.

Let’s not jump into conclusion guys. In the first place IMC allowed more players to register so they know what wave of hypeness they will be facing. I’m positve that they will be able to deliver the goods. Goodvibes Everyone! :smile_cat:

I hate having more than 1 server.

Dividing the playerbase is such a shitty thing to do and always ends up in

-“hey let’s play together”
-“sorry, we play in different servers”

To be perfectly clear, I’m not saying that they should not try to group people in the same server.
But just that player’s opinion is pretty much irrevelant here.

To take a simple metaphor if the player population represents 3 liters of water and the best server they can afford is a bottle that can contain 1 liter, they will use 3 bottle of 1 liter
Even if people are saying they all want to fit in 1 bottle !

League of legends NA server has around 1 mill players or more daily lol, they barely crash.

Just out of ignorance and curiosity, is there a way to make different servers to divide the load of onlines but with shared character database so we don’t end up dividing them?

That would be the best solution to this, but I don’t know if it’s possible.

Possible, yes.

Has IMC done it or will they do it? Unsure.

Is it really that hard/costly to do? Because I never seen a game doing this.

League of legends NA is not a real time mmorpg.
I don’t know if I really want to try to explain things… well let’s try though…
League of legends works most likely like this :
1 Server for the Client => Handle PMs, Friends, matchmaking (whole population, no real time game, only punctual messages)
XXX Servers to host the games, knowing that 1 server most likely can host a bunch of game (like 100~1000 games?) => 5000 players per server most likely => No real interaction between all players (only rooms with 10 players)
