Please alter the laws of physics

Since there will be no EU servers on release, I suggest that altering the laws of physics is the only viable solution for our friends across the pacific.

The speed of electrons is presently roughly set to 2,200 km/sec, so if we could possibly tweak that to somewhere closer to 5,000 - 6,000 km/sec, we could bring the pings down by half or slightly less.

I also suggest that the speed of light and radio waves be increased from 300,000 km/sec to possibly 500,000 km/sec. This will increase the viability of fiber optic and satellite networks across the globe.

This may cause those on the American continents to have a slightly OP advantage, since their pings will be halved as well, but I’m sure we’ll all be more than happy to play through VPN to increase our latency.

Thanks for your consideration, I’m sure you guys can get on the phone with the Lord of Science to make this happen before release.

You are asking the wrong Lord.
The right one is this one.

You have a point, I forgot how busy the Lord of Science is this time of year. Beautiful Babby Jesus will hook us up over easter weekend, he’s the best.

I checked with logistics, spango - they tell me that while they can’t alter the propagation rates of relativistic effects without pissing off our neighbors in adjacent dimensions, what they can do is reduce the spatial proportions of our three dimensions to achieve the effect you’re asking for. They promise that this will only triple the local effects of gravity on earth, specifically. Liu also assures me that our sun is unlikely to go super nova for at least another three hundred years as a result of this modification.

They think the earliest they can do this is by April 8th, and would like to remind everyone in the entire universe will need to recalibrate every communication network depending on light particles. We’ll need processors that run about a sixth as hot as our current ones, or they’ll immediately melt as a result of the concentration of thermal energy over a smaller net area.

There’s also a possibility of every human being going into convulsive seizures for about an average of one hour as our brains adjust to the new neuron firing timings. I don’t understand the science here, but this is apparently going to kill most people over 50. Something to do with neuro-plasticity. Because such a low proportion of ToS players are going to be above that age bracket, we’ve decided it’s an acceptable loss. On the plus side, the under twenties should be back on their feet in as little as a few minutes.

I’ve preemptively given the go ahead for this, as the 8th is plenty of time to get ready. Thanks for the bright idea!

Completely worth it!

or get everyone equaly 300 ms even if they have google fibre

Apparently altering the laws of physics is more likely than getting a server in EU :o

I think this whole chicken and egg situation is sad. imc is probably scared that investing in an EU server won’t lead to a return on investment. But many EU players have rightly been extremely hesitant to buy a founders pack, especially if there were no EU servers…

The dumb part is that imc uses steam sales to justify not having a european service when it was kind of their fault for not being more clear in the first place… If they had instead said something like:

ā€œWe will open up an EU server if we can get X number of playersā€ then things wouldn’t have reached this messed up state. Instead we get this poor communication and a lot of frustrated people. Just really sad.

NOTE: I’m an NA player but I think this situation is just really dumb.

All joking aside, I think it’s fair to say they are doing the best they can. IMC seems to be a very reactive company when it comes to listening to the customer base, and jumping into the international market so early is pretty much an unprecedented move.

Props to them for putting in the effort on basically a simultaneous international release for being such a modest sized company. Considering how long the international market had to wait for such games as Blade and Soul, or Black Desert, they are pretty much running in blind and putting out fires as they go. Risky, possibly clumsy, but imho, it’s pretty awesome that we don’t have to wait 2 more years to play an English translation.

How out of touch does a company have to be to think that having 3 months of founder advantage is reasonable?

Sure, I get that they responded to it and tried their best to really fix things. Good on them. But this level of sheer disconnect with ā€˜reality’ is worrying. What other crazy things are they assuming about their player base?

Do you think that they are learning from their mistakes? I don’t really see imc making enough attempts for feedback from the playerbase (other than when they were fighting fires on the founder issue). Worse yet, there seems to be an active segment of this community who think that imc is doing great as is and shoot down constructive suggestions by saying ā€œit’s not possibleā€, ā€œimc needs to make moneyā€, and ā€œstop whiningā€.

When is the last time this community got the opportunity to talk to dev team members or the producer?

Given the current flow of things, I see imc making repeated blunders that they will have to backtrack from. That’s no way to run a company. But that’s just my assessment which could be quite wrong… We’ll just have to wait I see. But I just don’t see the changes that need to happen, happening.

I’ll give you another example. Tokens provide a number of advantages and are theorized to cost ~$20 for a month of advantages. Sure, free players will be able to buy from players that buy tokens… but consider this, what other mmo has a >$15 subscription type system? Already this seems a bit divorced from reality. Now add on the fact that this game will also have a cash shop where people can buy further experience boosts and also things like magic scrolls which are literally gambling for stats on costume pieces and most people start really wondering wtf is going on…

Can you find me any other mmo that costs $20 to get the ā€˜full experience’ while also deploying rather ā€˜gray’ cash shop options? The fact that token costs are likely going to be high just means that it’s even less likely for free players to obtain one with a reasonable level of effort. I see people arguing that in the kToS version it’s not bad, but we’re talking about western mmo players who are very sensitive to value and fairness. I just see a trainwreck ahead to be honest…

Pay silver for the token and stop whining. It isn’t P2W if you can get it in game.

Apologies if you didn’t know you could buy it on market. Otherwise, re-read the above.

bible thumb!
The god approved of this solution :3

You’re right, i’m sure every mob in the game actually drops tokens.

BtW the ā€œif you can get it in gameā€ means ā€œif it can be dropped in gameā€, not ā€œif you can buy it with silver from someone that used real money to buy it because you can never drop it in gameā€ā€¦ get the difference?

This said i don’t really care about the tokens, almost everygame has it and i think it should remain BUT:

  • the price is too high considering the fact that much better and more famous games have it lower than this

  • the locked team storage is just a totalle retarted idea that has absolutly no logical reasons to exist

I’ll move this to Off-Topic as that’s a more appropriate place for this post.

As for regional servers being dependent on circumstances, the only thing I can tell you right now is everything we’ve stated in the announcements so far.

I won’t try to argue for or against regarding this issue.

@STAFF_JUlie based on the graph arent OCE-SEA and EU-Russia be on the same regional geographical context.

Wait a second… your telling us your upset because your not treated the same as someone buying a token with real money… okay is there something wrong with you because you clearly don’t understand how things work when someone pays for customs the reason they paid for it because it is desirable if everyone can get it within game without effort it becomes less desirable to buy it then no one would buy it that means IMC loose money… Sorry that you are a cheapskate freeloader but at least us who support the game with our cash shop purchase understand the bigger picture.

Sometimes I wonder do people think before they post on here…

me too cause you clearly don’t ^^

face palm

I just gave you a core expiation of why people buy things from facts of psychological evidence to what you was asking for… clearly its not so much because of ā€œme too cause you clearly don’t ^^ā€ its more you disagree with anything said that proves you wrong to the point even if it was 100% true you would still go against it because it does not go your way…

Uhm you are cleary not thinking about what you are flagging him about… As you point your finger towards the wrong person. Svalin didn’t imply anywhere that he was upset about the System as whole, he just explained the difference between ā€œit dropsā€ and ā€œit is bought and sold at marketplaceā€ to ridleyco. Who obviously didnt get what was going on. So please instead of beaching at someone take time to read carefully, as you normally do(yeah i noticed your name regulary) contribute to diskussions positively. ^^
