PK System for TOS?

Could just do like Talesweaver did and have a few maps that were restricted to higher level individuals with PvP events and PvP rewards…

Pk system would be cool, just like in Conquer 2.0 Online <3

i was replying to someone else, i know what this thread is about. And i already said i was behind the idea of a PK channel.

ya i have not heard that at all either. In fact from my memory the only thing is that FAQ where they said right now it wasn’t implemented but they were open to suggestions.

ToS feels more of a PvE game to me than a PvP game

Well because the game is just new, Ragnarok was just like this before lol.

Nobody is denying that ToS is primarily centered around PvE and is probably going to have that as a core focus forever. However, it’s just stupid to outright handwave any PvP suggestion based on something like that, especially when it won’t directly interfere with people who don’t want to participate in it.

Who exactly would suffer any unwanted experiences as long as it’s restricted to a PvP channel or server? That’s completely optional for all parties, and lets everyone who’s in it actually compete for in-game grinding spots and stuff in an active way. People who’re fine with having other player interfere and having to fight off other players to secure a spot are going to love it, and the PvE players gain from this as well seeing as how most of them by the looks of this thread, regard PvP players as “toxic”.

Honestly there’s no reason for this not to be a viable idea, the only acceptable complaint about it I can think of is that it’s going to take away development time. However, adding features that don’t directly mess with other core aspects of the game is something a developer should strive to do. There are clearly people who want it, and waiting to “ask for it later” is never a good idea. The period while betas are running is the ideal time to make these suggestions, since large additions are more difficult to implement once the game has had it’s official release.

? Ragnarok is still a PvE boss-focused game with GvG. There is little to no good PvP in it.

i like the idea of pking more open world to it but some people hate it , might as well just make 1 pk channel so people have the option

Um idk what server you played on but, War of Emperium was a pretty intense experience for me. It was glorious seeing spells be flung out and priests trying to super heal the crap out of people to keep them alive while the monks kept pneumas up to prevent 5 sniper to focus fire your friends with coordinated falcon assaults. And it is true that initially that wasnt a big part of the game but eventually when people talked about end game, they always mentioned what their purpose was gonna be in WoEs as their characters. And since the more people, the merrier it didn’t matter if you made your character around pvp or pve, the game had a way of making you viable for your guild to use you as an asset.

I played iRO, I don’t see how playing kRO , jRO, phRO or whatever would change that though, all servers are the same.
But basically you agreed with me anyway. As you said the game was originally PvE, got bought out and under it’s new ownership got reworked to feature GvG. It still had a heavy PvE boss focus (MvPs) to actually get gear worthwhile enough to do harder bosses in order to get the drops to give a huge advantage in GvG (WoE).

I would say a majority of maxed out players were GvG focused but I think only around 10% of the player base has ever actually gone into the PvP rooms and done actual PvP. I won’t count those who used to farm battlegrounds because they literally picked a side to win and everyone else AFKs because actually PvPing was bad for grinding…

The problem with a PK channel instead of a dedicated server is that as of right now, whenever you enter a city or a new zone you’re sometimes transferred to a random channel to compensate for population control. If that doesn’t change when obt launches, then people might be randomly transported to a pk/pvp channel without their knowledge.

For this idea to work we’d have to have an option on our characters to turn pvp on or off in general. That or flag the game so that it doesn’t transport non pk supporters to the pk channels on accident. If they could give us a little box to check that ables/disables pvp/pk for our characters then I wouldn’t see an issue. But just there being a separate channel as things currently stand isn’t enough.

Having a PK Channel is fine.

However, from what I have seen so far, it seems that whenever you move through a portal, there is a chance of getting moved to a different channel (possibly to control over-crowding?). If my observation is correct, there needs to be an option for players to not get kicked into PK channels when this happens. There must also be clear labels about which channels are PK channels. If these features are in place, then sure, no problems.

Otherwise, every time you switch areas, you have to check whether you are in a PK channel or not. Can be quite annoying.

PK channels would actually be an awesome idea.
