Most studios tend to want to give previews of what is being worked on but, thus far, IMC has almost tried to do the opposite with long periods of radio silence about their plans for the title.
Whether it is their opinion on concerns raised about current game play mechanics or things yet to be implemented, IMC has kept it largely to themselves.
We are at a level 280 cap in what is expected to be a level 600 finished product. We are expected to have classes that aren’t even hinted at while others have been known for a year and are still not in our game. We are riddled with minor bugs and issues of polish, as well as severely limiting FPS and server issues, with no idea of what is actually being addressed or even what is being worked on.
The truth is a lot of us have faith that things are being worked on as best as they can but not a single person can accurately say everything that is being worked on and what we can expect in the near or distant future. Right now we are all taking a leap of faith.
But we could be at a level 280 cap for 6 more months. We could be waiting an entire year for X hidden class to finally be released. We have no idea what is being worked on, what is being tweaked, what is a long ways off or what has a very realistic chance of making it’s way into our version soon. We are left to speculate on the unknown and just trust that IMC will add what they can, when they can, and that we will be happier for it.
I propose a different solution to blind faith. I propose that IMC adopts a more active role and participates in Q&A’s, preview videos, or whatever they can, to keep the community up-to-date on what is being worked on, planned, and more. The majority who even read this message are already paying customers as we are participating in the Founder’s release; to those who haven’t bought the packs they will likely be playing in the F2P launch and will still be customers and potential customers.
Countless other studios have made it a point to keep their fans excited and motivated for new and upcoming content where our own IMC takes a step off-stage and disappears for months at a time, even intentionally avoiding replies on hot-topic issues.
tl;dr- IMC should be more active in sharing information about upcoming releases and features so they can give the community something to be excited about as well as address concerns over projected timelines.
- It would be nice to see what IMC has planned for Toasters in the near and distant future
- I don’t care what IMC is doing with our money or when fixes and content will be added
