Permadeath Feature

unless your a necromancy

Uhh, Wizardry Online is --> that way

Whats the point of playing HC if you gonna pay to stay revive ? Where do people take these ideas from ?

we don’t need permadeath because everyone will have died of old age by the time they reach max level

It’s a way to win money for imc :V

Maybe not using money, but something that can give you a second chance? Like an special event or something that not many can get in or win, imagine you loose your char, and then you get the “hope” that you can get it back after a long time, but you have to complete that event, which has to be difficult. I would like to see how people get ready for that event :stuck_out_tongue:
And about the Ideas, there’s something called BRAINSTORMING, you give any idea, doesn’t matter how bad or stupid is, you give it, you won’t get it if you are close-minded :v

1 day death penalty would do. Anyone tried reading royal road weed? You wont regret it.

I’ve seen a lot of interesting ideas and this perma-death idea is one of them.

I’m thinking if the PvP channel idea & perma-death feature get implemented. You reached level 400 and get killed in PvP channel. I can’t imagine of how the player would react to that.

I’m a bit curious about how would you deal with the priest’s Resurrection spell then.
Simply disabling it bothers me a bit, it kills one of the main purposes of a class.
Keeping it to the Party, so that if the whole party (or the priest) gets wiped, it’s pretty much game over, like in a RPG but without saving ~
Allowing Resurrection spell on other people ? But then I don’t think it would be as “hardcore”…

EDIT : Also, Pardoner are supposed to make scrolls, I wonder if it’s a good idea to keep the resu. scrolls or not.

Oh and, no rez in PvP areas, ever. o/

It would make a single ability useless on an extremely small percentage of players who knowingly opted for the mode, wouldn’t call that the “main purposes of a class”. It would be no different from someone refusing your resurrection in the first place.

I don’t understand people’s obsession with wanting to bring a hardcore character back to life; You choose to become hardcore fully aware of the risk you’re taking. If you dont enjoy taking that risk then you should never have played one in the first place.

Just because you don’t want to take the risk doesn’t mean the true hardcore community doesn’t either.

Play soft & die hard… Very frustrating.
You cannot really enjoy while playing.
Not a good feature IMO.

Nah this doesn’t work at all with the kind of game that ToS is (slow and steady progression). Sorry.

No dude, get out of here. Permadeath : perma = permanent. death = death. So permadeath = PERMANENT DEATH !
Doesn’t mean : have mercy or piety on us, gimme a second crying chance.

Just do it manually and delete your char when you die, why not?

Because if there’s no official system in place for it any idiot can claim they made it far without dying and the ones who truly did have no way of proving it and will likely be called on as a lie.

It’s because it’s slow progression that it would work. The whole point of hardcore is getting as far as you can without dying. It’s a challenge setting, it’s not suppose to be done overnight.

Play RealLife 3D. Permadeath is a major feature. and stuff like

  • Fatigue system
  • Open world PVP
  • Jail system

some Major content Like

  • Faction war
  • Climate change
  • survival Mode

And other cool stuff!

Playing games with hardcore modes are actually quite enjoyable. At first it seems retarded but you will realize that you will play the game far differently compared to when you have infinite lives.

However, in most hardcore games, its not too hard to restart over. Even in D3 when I kick the bucket, its pretty easy to get back to max level and mid 20 rifts within a day or too. I don’t think you could recover 500 levels in TOS in a day or two or even just 200 levels.

No, it doesn’t end at a simple tag. There will be support and further feature requests to make that mode more worthwhile and anything you implement adds conflicts. For example, if you allow hc chars in the same environment as the rest what do you do when they form parties? Normal supporters are suddenly a target for griefers and demands to keep hc chars alive. On the other hand, hc players aren’t reliable for dungeons or boss fights.
To resolve these issues you have to write additional content.

You can only permadeath in games that require MUCH less grind. You’d have to completely do over ToS.

Dumbest idea for an MMOrpg ever…
