Permadeath Feature

You always have the hardcore mode in Diablo 3.

Could only be a flag when you create your char, go on that mode who want to chalenge himself, no one is obligated, i think it add some spice to the gameplay, not that i would make a HC char, since my connection isnt that reliable.

Note: Sry if my english is worse than usualy is, i just wake up.

I play Don’t Starve which has the same mechanics, it’s too stressful to play the game… I always make sure I’m mentally fit before resuming the game or else my whole week of survival will be wasted. There are ways of saving the game before it delete the game records tho but I’m not a pussy to do that. Yes the game is offline try to think that if they apply it to this online game… oh my… it’s chaos.

They did it in dofus on the heroic server and it was pretty popular lol, It was mainly a pvp server but you got boosted xp and if you died your character was gone

As much as i love hardcore mode in Diablo 3, that feature just doesn’t work in mmorpgs, you can’t get max level in 4-5 hours in ToS like you can in D3.

Diablo 3’s HC is laughably easy to level up and gear in; ever tried to hit 99 as a HC in Diablo 2?

HC is as much of a mindset as it is a playstyle, if you can’t stand the idea of losing hundreds of hours of work to the most random things…simply don’t play it.

To the people who enjoy hardcore it’s the excitement of that risk and the raw adrenaline that you can get from an encounter, a real feeling of loss when yourself or a friend falls in battle, as well as a much greater sense of accomplishment when you do something seemingly trivial to the normal crowd.

I didn’t like D2 enough to even get 99 softcore, but i do miss the old difficulty modes in D3 like inferno, hardcore was much more fun back then when stuff could 1 shot you, its only easy right now because you can max out by only playing in normal/hard difficulty if you wanted to, but thats not as fun or challenging.

In particular as a hc-only Diablo series and clones player for about a decade, of course, I wouldn’t mind a mode or channel with perma-death - one doesn’t even have to specifically state it should be optional, that’s just common sense - but in my opinion this isn’t something that would visibly improve this game.
I disagree though that such a feature has in general no place in MMOs, that’s nonsense.

It’s a very niche system, however I know (having done something similar with my own private servers) that it would be ridiculously easy to implement and it in no way would harm anyone else that didn’t select the option.

Tag the new character as hardcore, have the resurrect options grayed out to players with that tag. Takes less than an hour to code in C++ or C# can’t imagine it being too different in anything else. Now you can get fancy and add a graveyard or list where you can view your fallen characters, but that’s just fluff.

You don’t even have to separate them from normal players if you don’t want too mess with creating a whole new economy…just make them distinguishable with an icon/emoji infront of their name or something.

Nope, It’s not a good Idea like others say, if you suddendly lag and you are high level, you are going down. All your effort is gone, and some people won’t like to start over, at least that’s what I think

only a bad idea if it’s mandatory, but having the option available to do it isn’t.

i like how big the blast radius is on that nope cannon. this is so awful the entire country should die, or the world, keke.

Hc chars only work on high exp rate games. Doesn’t apply here.

You know the current exp rate isnt the official one? lol.

Anyway, yeah, just put and option when you create a char (like the one in Torchlight 2) and you are set, the dead char can appear on the lodge as a ghost, you can only delete or leave the char there.

I think I’d rather have an achievement with a title or some kind of fancy accessory for reaching level cap without dying. Their achievement page is really, really small.

Ya to lv up a D3 Chara to 70 is like lvling up a ToS chara to level 10 seriously >_> That’s not called Hardcore - only if you loose your paragon levels and they wouldn be shared in Hardcore

Imagine you got a level 500 Circle 10 Chara and he dies - Diablo 3 Death would be joke compared to that - the only way you die is in GFs anyways and only if you hunt for top score or if you lag in lower - it’s to make things a lil harder and let people make use more of the defensive passives and defensive stones wich you would never use on softcore - and ya one lag and your chara is dead no matter how good you are xD imo a complete stupid system

But as said a Hardcore mode in ToS is completly stupid - think about the GvGs - goodbye when you die xD and now dont say ā€œBut they could remove the perm death penalty in GvGsā€ duh PvP is the real ā€œhardcoreā€ aspect of a game specially in grind heavy ones with super dumb mobs and bosses - if you want a hardcore you die in pvp!!! or what would be the whole sense of ā€œbeing hardcoreā€ xDD empty GvGs ftw…or a server wide ā€œoh let’s hug and cuddle each other we dont wanna dieā€

Yeah, maybe having that option would be good C:
What do you think about a way to get back your character, like using Real Money, do you think it’s viable?

What is dead should stay dead, otherwise there’s no point of it in the first place.
