Overall feedback for Tree of Savior

These are my feedback, suggestions, and thoughts of the game after clocking in about 110 hours into the game.

(1) First thing in this game that bothers me is the low FPS issue. I have a very good gaming comp, max setting GTA 5 and etc, and I have like what? 10-25 FPS when there are tons of things going on in the game. Isn’t that’s what the game is all about? ■■■■ flying everywhere with explosions of particles and colours that gives you eye porn. Heard that the game engine is currently using only 1 core of your GPU. I mean, why? It’s 2016. Game should make full use of your RIG, and have more video advance settings. Right now, most of the settings are irrelevant, and even if I uncheck all settings and go low mode, I still get FPS issues on a good gaming PC. This is ridiculous. Obvious poor optimisation.

(2) Heavily recycled monster’s sprite. This doesn’t bother me as much, but it gets kinda boring after seeing so many similar sprite, especially bosses. They even had the same name, just different level on the bosses. I mean, c’mon.

(3) Almost 0 challenge in dungeon bosses. I don’t know, I’m a Dragon Nest player a few years ago. Maybe I’m spoilt by Dragon Nest due to their challenging dungeons bosses? You actually need to coordinate with your teammate and give it your best to actually win dungeon bosses in Dragon Nest. Hell, you even need to source for guides to beat those badass bosses if you are too lazy to trial and error with your teammates. In Tree of Savior, ohhhhh noo. Bosses are dumb (Not to mention their recycled sprite), skills can be dodged easily.

(4) I’m an old time Ragnarok Online player too, and I realised that, this game is having the same issue that I had back in Ragnarok days. I don’t know, they are like using the exact same engine or something? This is the issue, when you are doing multiple hits to the monster, it will appears as they are being “stuck” in their current location for a few seconds due to the multiple hit, but in actual fact, they are walking towards you, just that the animation didn’t update. So, after the multiple hits, the monster will “fast-forward” and speed up toward you. This bothers me in Ragnarok Online, I couldn’t complain, since I can console myself at that time as they are using a very dated engine or something that causes this phenomenon? But helll no, you see this in Tree of Savior too. 2016. Or is it a “thing” that are intended? I hope not, because it is annoying.

(5) I love the circle system. Brings in a breathe of fresh air in the MMO market. But I hate the attribute system. It is too simple, and doesn’t create an array of variety. A variety of choice. Wouldn’t it be better if the attribute system brings in more depth to the game? Currently it is just “learn this to get X amount of dmg more”, or “learn this to have one of this special effect on your skill”. And, you can learn all of them without thinking. The problem is, you don’t have to think, you don’t really have a choice. You just learn and apply everything. Well, that may be appealing to some players, but no for me. Wouldn’t it be better if they give you an array of attributes to choose from? Just a hypothetical example, the skill, meteor from elementalist. Right now it is just “add dmg”, and “increase evasion while casting”. Why not include more? Something like “meteor will now split into a rolley of small meteors within 5 seconds” and so on. You get the idea. If you implement more attributes, players will now have the choice to build a specific unique character. I know that the circle system allows for unique characters, but isn’t really that unique at all when you come to think of it, as certain class combination is an obvious outshine to other random build. Maybe if they create more classes in different circles, then that would be a different story.

(6) Something I think they can improve on is the explaination of the skills. Often skills are not explained properly with the proper information. I mean, tell me what’s the AOE attack ratio, tell me does it work with this and that or not, include side note when I press “ALT” if it is intuitive that most players will need further explaination. Tell me about any special hidden effects that I will gain when leveling. A good example will be again, meteor from elementalist. You actually gain AOE if you level up meteor. They didn’t include that in the description. Lots of missing information that you often have to look it up on Google or other sources, and gets kinda frustrating.

(7) I don’t know if this is a Beta or early access thing, but entering dungeons requires you to spam to get in. It is like the server could only take up a certain number of parties in the dungeon, and you have to “queue” for the dungeon by spamming enter. Faster’s finger’s first! This is ridiculous, and hope it is sorted out on F2P.

There are things that I liked about Tree of Savior as well, and I guess I don’t have to explain that, you probably felt the same way. But somehow I am still very skeptical for the end-game content. I mean, guild war and all seems kinda fun, its like War of Emperium, but other than that, dungeons? World bosses? Kinda boring as of now. I am still only level 140+, barely half way through the game, so maybe it is still too early for me to judge. We will see.
