Nothing happens after patcher launched

I was having the same problem with the game not opening after the patch, then i was looking around the “release” folder and notice that the “user_c.xml” and “user.xml” files was empy. I asked a friend of mine to send me a copy of those files and replace it and now its working fine.
Give it a try, maybe it work for you guys too.

yeah it’s empty can you send us what is written in there? just copy, and paste it in reply, thanks.

OMG its work now. I try run steam as administrator. It extend update to 99% then stop working but i can go in game after that update Thx

okay guys I discovered the solution! go to steam/steamapps/common/TreeOfSavior/release and find user.xml and user_c.xml and delete them both, then run Tree of Savior on steam and it will make a new user.xml and user_c.xml again! and booom! hope it helps you guys too…

Well, here i can “open” the game now, after deleting both items, but it just show a white screen a closes, can you please upload both of you user_c.xml and send the link to us?

I got the same issue last night but after done this the game work again:
Go to: Steam\steamapps\common\TreeOfSavior\patch and delete file 128145_001001.ipf then start the game and it’s work again.
Hope this will help.

Same issue over here: after the patcher finishes, the white load screen comes for 5 seconds then the game shuts down again. If it helps at all, I was happily playing this morning post-patch until the hotfix was issued – at which point I’ve been getting the same shut-down every time.

I’ve tried every suggestion and ‘solution’ listed above, including:

  1. removing / uninstalling all add-ons
  2. re-installing the game altogether
  3. running Steam and ToS as administrator
  4. removing user.xml and user_c.xml
  5. removing 128145_001001.ipf

No luck. Keep posting your solutions, friends! Hopefully one of them will work for us eventually

Hi, you can try out the solution suggested by eltira2k4 Client remove latest patch when using certain ISP
or
Step D, by Biskee
✅ 🔧 Tested solutions to patching problems

So far I’m able to play the game by either play the game with a VPN on, or use another ISP, my default ISP (maxis) will cause the ipf file damaged problem around 70% of the time I play the game, other 30% being the latest patch not apply to my game.

I’ve tried everything in that thread. It still didn’t work.

Deleting the user.xml and user_c.xml worked for me. Thank u!

I tried to reinstall and no luck. Guess few days later i gonna quit… since all the event stuff i will miss them anyway. Played from cbt till now. Has gone through lag and glitches i still bear with it. Now cant even login. Uhmmm… IMC you just might lose one of your most loyal costumer here. Just save enough of TP to buy wiz3 costume and wear it for 1 hour only. Lel…

UPDATE!! THIS WORKED!

Simply deleting user.xml and user_c.xml didn’t work for me. I removed ALL the .xml files in the /release folder and verified the cache while using a VPN (PrivateTunnel). It works perfectly now even with VPN turned off!

Nop. I tried and it wont work. I not sure why. In task manager it just gone before it launch… sigh… I even reinstall after uninstall and clean all the files…

After trying everything is this topic multiple times, and 8 hours of hard work, i could play the game and i will explain below what i did, it is crazy, but hell i’m playing now:
First off: i believe that the problem is not ours alone and is not on “only” one aspect, so since i can not track everything so i did the hard way to make it work.
after reading this topic : Damaged IPF files i got to know that the problem is also on the main ipf files, even if we download it, it may come corrupted, so now i will describe everything i did, it may be that ours is just more serious and is not even showing the msg when we open the game, there is no time for that.
first: save all IPF files with a size large than 50 Mb (if you internet is good you can even decrease the number of ipf files saves, you will understand why later since i have a good internet i only keep the ones with 200mb or large, so it only took me 3 tries)
second:delete everything in the main patch folder (ipf files) and the files with small size in the \Steam\steamapps\common\TreeOfSavior\release and \Steam\steamapps\common\TreeOfSavior\release\patch
third: ask the steam to to check integrity, this is re download all the files from release folder and a new launcher
fourth: put the IPF files that you have save in the patch folder again, and open the launcher, this will update the launcher with a new hotfix made the last time that this problem had happen, and after than you open it again to re download the ipf files.
Fifth: after all if the game does not open, select one of the ipf files from your “save” pile and remove him, and delete from the main patch folder, then select the version on the release.revision.txt on the release folder as the same as the ipf file you have removed so he can re download a new one and open the game again.
if the game does not open after all of this, it would mean that one of the IPF files that you have “save” is broken, you need to replace one after the other, until the game work.
but be aware that some ipf files can come broken or did not download at all, so every time you are doing a new “try” you would have to start from the second step, so he can re download everything again from scratch until it work would work is better, but you can skip steps if you are secure that the problem is on the IPF files, and not in any other place like the release folder .
the process of saving the ipf files with larger size, is just so that we can “narrow down” the ipf files with problem and also make the tests with a fast peace, since the ones with big sizes would be the ones who takes a while to download and be easy to track, the other ones you can just re download until it work.

i know this seems to be the same as most steps together, but i have tried this steps “alone” every time someone posted here, and not one of them got the game to work, only when i did as that after even a complete re install and only took me 3 tries since i only had save 3 ipf files with size large than 200mb.
and i’m playing now; everything is fine .
sorry about the English, is not my main language i just wanted to post so it may help another person .

Really… very much thankful to your suggestion. Seems like you are right to the point that my client wont start normally due to one ipf file corrupted.

This one should be the latest patch file i think? From your problem stated, I went and copy my friend’s whole ipf folder and compare one by one. Somehow i realize this file of mine is 0kb while my friend’s is 513kb. After replace it, my client works again.

After so many times of reinstall and verify, this error still cant solve by itself. Need manually solve by us players? IMC please look into it. It might be the file corrupted at your patch server.

Someone would kindly tag them again and hope this can help other players as well. Thank you.

@nery_ma very much thanks to you again. You are my life saver.

Nope, luck for you that you had a friend for that, haha, for me i had to go with 4 tries to find it out and by the end of it, it took me 8 hours trying, multiples methods until i had found the problem, but even then if i could help one person is already good enough the time it took me to come here write that, since like i said i’m not so good with english and took me a few tries with google translate, and dictionary to try to explain everything, haha. but good luck with you game now.
but i can not stop to wonder, like one small file of 513kb could destroyer a entire game like that.

Hey guy… this work for me. Thank you!!!

you’re welcome dude
