Nostalgia of a forggeten mmoprg

Hello people.

I was listening to music on a bluetooth speaker desiring something between Nujabes, smooth jazz, piano melodies, sounds of nature, and some old soothing mmorpg music. Then, I listened to those wonderful tracks by SoundTEMP for Ragnarok Online, you know, the themes to the cities and music from the fiels and forests. Then I remembered of a game I played during the summer of 2003.

I remember so little of it. I played it during the worst time of my life. I distinctly remember there was cooking craft to it. I could bake cakes. I think I could even become a vendor, set the price, and sell it in towns. I believe I was an archer, and that there were areas in the game where I could position myself on a plateau and kill much higher level monsters, with the monster unable to attack me. Maybe one had to become an archer after a certain required level. Maybe there was a rare bear that spawned near a waterfall that dropped a highly valued food item. The game’s graphics I believe were isometric 2d, like Rangarok, perhaps less beautiful. The game was huge, difficult, time consuming, especially over a 56k modem. But I somehow enjoyed it.

I tried to find the game, but after going through several lists (mmorpg.com [very useful because it can be sorted by date], and even mpogd.com, which I remember being the site I used at the time to find free or beta 2d games as a very bored child without money), I still haven’t found it.

That’s how I ran into an off-topic post about listing mmos people played. The people in that post seem to be able to list games that aren’t even on the aforementioned lists. So it makes me wonder, that the game I played may have never even been released. But surely, someone who played mmorpgs during that time may have played it. So I post the topic here.

Can one bake cakes and sell them in Secret of the Solstice, Trickster, Angels Online? None of the screenshots or titles from these RO clones remind me of the game, but I feel it looked somewhat similar to them…

I’ll leave you with some music as a gift (mmo.com’s soundcloud has playlists for most mmos’ soundtracks, but I haven’t found anything that compares to Ragnarok city themes, “Peaceful Forest”, and “Streamside” ;)).

you might want to listen to Granado Espada OST(by IMC games) aswell. It has the same theme of composition and studios that did for Tree of Savior. SFA, Kevin, SoundTEMP, Syphonix, some japaense studio and etc. studios

That’s next on my playlist!
