Why Red Gem? they say yellow gem is better than reds on main.
Lionhead or Emengard?
Emengard is by far the best in slot. But… 2 pracs are kinda…
About the gems: yellows if you have great critical rate.
Red works like “magic amplification”
Go Yellow Gems, you’ll have 80%+ Crit. Emengard if possible, but Lionhead is more practical price/grinding wise.

With Emengard getting the Prac is only half the battle, you also need the materials which are difficult to obtain. I’m using Pygry with a Lionhead on the way.

That’s enough Crit for yellow, especially if you’re pursuing Ellas or Pygry.

Yes, though you shouldn’t rely on Spear Throw this late into the game.
EDIT: I should probably clarify. You have to take into account enhancing, the Crit Rate increase and transcendence, Spear Throw alone probably does more with Geras still. But as I said before, do not rely on Spear Throw, it’s a filler.
I think at some point especially when upgraded and transcended (even if you compare them on same transcendence level), Pygry and Wingshard will outdamage Geras even with Spear Throw.
HopGoon here. I’m using a Geras now, but planning to switch to Pygry or Wingshard as soon as I can afford them.
As for shield, agree with what @Queue said:
I used to want to go straight for Emengard until I came across the needed materials. Too pricey to buy from others, too rare to farm.
If you have friends/guildies who can help you farm them though, then good. There’s no wonder why it’s still very rare to see anyone with it at this point in the game.
It’s actually the dpk mat issue. There’s a few already though just hiding.

Also, those mobs are a pain to solo if you plan to kill them in groups. Really need high mDef or you’ll need to pot+bonfire a lot.
honestly iam relying on Serpentine + SpearThrow in mobbing hunting mats solo dungeon runs thats the only purpose of my Geras Spear when it comes to boss i switch my 2H spear skill rotation.

Spear Throw loses its grinding ability in R8 content, that’s when it moves to a filler role.
Transcended Pygry certainly is better, especially with your Crit Rate, it will help a ton. Geras will also scale very poorly with Transcendence.
Your talk of all this Transcendence has me worried though, you need to stick to one weapon to focus on. I’d also recommend level 6 gems minimum when you can.
yah Queue itake note on that maybe i will transcend first my geras for safety and craft lionhead shield first. when my 2nd mystical cube gives me practo i will craft pygry spear nothings gonna waste which is better goes to Hop3goon2 and the other goes to my Hop3lancer =)
