New type of mob grinding

what problem we have about grinding now are two thing.

  1. Mob density is too thin in many area.
2.Some classes can’t grind or not suit for grinding (Quarrel Shooter ,Scout for example)

The first one, just tune it up , if possible add a spot on every map that have high spawn rate of monsters , the grinding spot of that map.

For the second one, How about add a type of monster that have high HP and high aoe defence ratio, this type of monster give a ton of EXP, so classes that have no aoe skill can also grinding by hunt this type of monsters

Quarrel Shooter and Scout? So Archer right? Even Lv1 Oblique and decent gears + SPR is enough for them to grind on the fields w/o the need to do dungeons.

I’m currently an Archer C2 > Hunter > Scout and totally have no problem grinding alone on fields. Fields is where archers excel, they can hit spread mobs easily and fast unlike other classes.

Also, try to prioritize leveling on areas where there are flying mobs. Using 2H-Bow with maxed anti-flying attribute will make you grind/level real fast.

join a party problem solved.

i think the class that i find hard to grind are the one who uses skill to grind. aoe skill need some cooldowns and sp. not like other class they just use AA and no skill at all. like barb. high damage with an AA. well im a krivis and i dont think grinding is for me. but atleast i can solo boss. so not a big issue for me. bbut i missing out all the good loots that i can get from grinding. sadlife :frowning:

The first thing is unnecesary if you have the second point, which i believe is one of the main issues of the game. Currently, lower level monsters have exp penalty. Stronger level monsters give close to no extra exp because of how the game is design (if there was no exp penalty, you could stay killing monsters 20 lvls below and it would give better exp/hour, even more so with overkill).
And AoE is too strong. Even if you think "well, if they fight 1 v 4 they hit x 4 times the damage but they should get destroyed. Well, not quite because:
1.- You can jump attack, which combined with the monsters terrible Ai, makes it so you take close to no damage.
2.- Monsters even 1 level lower than you have a penalty damage against you.
3.- Monsters higher than you have a bonus damage against you and you have penalty damage against them. I dunno how this works exactly, if it is a flat level or some monsters have a lvl dif defined, but it is a thing.

Like I have said in other topic, I think they needed a lot more maps for the same level range. Right now you only find 1~3 maps around 1 to 5 levels within your range. The maps are small, and there’s only 1 channel to them. Therefore they all end up crowded as hell and mob density becomes a joke.

I think they should condense all the lvl 1~600 maps they have now into 1~100 ones and cap the max lvl there. Readjust progression so that you get more attribute points per level and level slower to 100.

I’m not sure about archer class, but I had a painful time leveling cryomancer in comparison to pyromancer. Cryomancers C3 seem to get strong enough but C1 and C2 is just too painful.

But the game has support classes, such as linker, thaumaturge, etc. I think what they needed is a better party exp bonus per member (seriously, 25% isn’t that great) and more leveling spots like i mentioned above.

They have elite mobs on some maps that have a lot more HP than normal mobs. At earlier levels these elite mobs are barely stronger, but at higher level their strenght seems to increase in comparison to the other mobs in the same area.

This makes grinding very limited indeed. You can’t level in weaker areas with a weaker character and you can’t grind in stronger areas with a strong character. This game isn’t like RO where mobs a few levels higher could be waaay stronger (compare a fire imp to a salamander…). In ToS a mob 20 levels higher means it’s just going to hit you 150 dmg instead of 100 which isn’t that big of a deal tbh. I mean, if it wasn’t for the stupid hidden level penalty they add so mobs higher level actually hit you for 500+ dmg while you hit them 1 dmg.

Each class have his strenght and weakneses, that s why partys exist. You can´t just been asking to change classes becouse it ´s weak in some aspect.

I agree with teifu.
indent preformatted text by 4 spacesAoe clases arent as good as you think.

At least Archer has a spammable skill to kill mobs one by one easily. Im a Pyro and I cry bitter tears when there are not enouph mobs because fireball has 2 charges and a 20 second cd, so if I use my 2 fireballs to kill two stray mobs im screwd for 20 seconds, since my autoattack is so slow and weak that ill be shooting at the third mob for a minute to kill it. I just cannot walk and kill every mob I meet, I have to look for at least a group of 2-3.

its not all about density. grinding is more than fine. already gave you the hint…

They should remove high level penalty to lead people makes Team (dps, support, tank, mage etc) to kill monsters with high level and exp reward which are impossible to kill alone (except if you have the same level or higher), even if you’re barbarian of anything else.

I want see people try hard a level 100 monster at level 50 with a five member team composed of Archer, Mage, Swordmen, clerics! And when they kill the monster they earn exp/loot enough to create a alternative of grinding low level/same lvl monster or quest.

Yeah problem is i often want a whole area to myself to grind effectively but the few places that have a good respwn rate are always filled with people.
Especially my wizard-pyro is highly dependant on being alone on a map since he needs to gather many then use his AoE other people on the map is like rocks in your shoes, not fun when you want to take a long walk.

Should note i have several characters below 100 though and not pushed 1 fast id imagine the crowd of players thins out if you lvl faster then average but i would hazard the guess im the average player so what i experience is what most run into.

agreed on more grinding spots, i loooove grinding on my bokor, if one of the bottom areas of demon prison is miraculously unpopulated, i can clear the entire area and continue to grind indefinitely, very relaxing when no one comes and disturbs me, but frustrating as hell when people take your kills, or some parties out right raid your spot and brute force you out.

i would love to party up too, but to me it seems my progress slows down in a party, especially for my class which relies on whiting down lots of enemies over time, instead of bursting them in a spell rotation, i often dont get killing blows or dont do enough damage in the half second it took my party members to kill a pack of monsters

i wish there were more channels and grinding spots, especially in the field and forest areas, since i love the scenery of those places

yeeeeeeeep mostly the high lvl areas give us the mobby swarms of death we had at lower lvls.

Mob density makes it really annoying if you’re a class like pyromancer or sapper trying to mob to get good rate out of your skills, especially when you want to use broom trap take a lot of time to gather up 10-20+ mobs because they’re so spread out… then someone comes to KS you.

Learn about overkill grinding honestly it’s much faster and almost necessary in some cases, unfortunately as it is right now without tosbase finding the right spot would be a nightmare because it depends heavily on your class and the right combination of their skills and weakness to monster types.

F10->Incompatbility, you should learn a lot about most classes, this screen doesn’t cover the way archer attacks work though

More diversity is something that they will surely need eventually, and I’m hoping with their first year’s big patch (Maybe around this time next year or March of 2017~ish) that they have some alternative areas prepared.
