Nerf the wizard sleep control

Well this thread has been very informative on how to properly deal with sleep.

Now it’s up to players to either adapt and put it into practice, or be left behind.

If you’re not speced to deal with magic, don’t complain about being weak to it. Everyone is quick to say that SPR is a useless stat. No one considers the fact that you get some resistance to ailments.

I don’t think you can make a stat build where you rly have everything you need… and it kinda sux if we rly have to specialise in killing 1 type of class and we left useless against the others.

I think the stat system sux but if I try to accept it as it is…and ignore arenas too in my mind… the question is if you can actually gear up against wizards or not…

There are so many good things in this game but I’m not sure they are well implemented…

Like we actually have Clothing armor against magic…but when I tried back then different armor types in icbts… well I wasn’t that impressed but that was also in pve… I guess I will further investigate it when I will be able to play but I’m still worried about these things…

OP, an advice is that please do try fight other classes first.

As a barbarian, basically you picked the worst class to PVP even compared to swordman C3.

Fight a full support cleric > priest/chaplain. Will you complain all your attacks will be blocked and they can’t die ?

Fight cyro > if you think wizard sleep is annoying, how about sleep plus freeze CC ?

How about a Swordman C3, Cata C3 with restrain + rush ? You will stun locked if you don’t have pain barrier up.

Or at higher level, will you complain if you can only get one shot-ed by a stealth + snipe musketeer without any hope retaliation ? or even a by a cannoneer ?

How about vs a QS ? stone shot spam with 10 second stun each?

Then when you played these aftermentioned characters, will you come here and call the whaaaaambulance again when you faced a plague doctor where he/she is immune to all your CCs ?

TLDR : If wiz’s sleep can be make you rage quit, then there will be alot more things that can make you + more rage quit.

When i hear Cata and PvP in one sentence i think of Impale skill.

And you forgot wugushi - you kill them and still die to their poison ^_^.

Plague Doctor here. Don’t care.

you fcking unreasonable guy, whatever people say to you, you replied “are you a wizard?” fcking idiot. this post got me very mad because of how ignorant you are from what actually happening.

-IT’S HARD TO HIT SLEEP IN PVP SCENARIO ESPECIALLY AGAINST FAST MOVING ENEMIES LIKE SWORDSMAN!
-THE DURATION IS NOT ALWAYS 14 SECOND IT HAS ATTACK THRESH HOLD!
-don’t get hit by it idiot, the cooldown is extremely long for a pvp fight and it needs casting. oh my god.

you and your kind, the god damn NERF CRYER are just disgusting. i’ve never lashed out like this but you are very disgusting. whenever you don’t like something because you are not better than them in any way NERF PLEASE NERF PLEASE NERF PLEASE.

go to hell.

exactly what i thought.

In response to op I feel sleep is pretty op and I’m a wizard. I only use it when pvping a warrior because their stuns are literally more op than my sleep. In all honestly I would much rather avoid using sleep because I don’t really enjoy using a cheap tact.

Basically it’s just this

  1. Someone asks for pvp
  2. Quick spell to casting sleep
  3. Aim and hit accept duel
  4. Sleep and then attack

However even then I’ve almost lost because of the attack threshold that can end sleep prematurely and the barb having an exceptional amount of hp.

Take it how you want to though. Nerfing sleep will cause others to want a different class’ cc to be nerfed as well. However I could see sleep being nerfed in only a pvp aspect. I barely use it in pve, though

Sleep isn’t OP for many reasons. NORMALLY, I would agree that an 18 second CC (lvl 15 Sleep) is OP in a game, but this game just offers so many counters and the nature of CC in this game is different from other games.

  1. This game is not a MOBA. In a MOBA, a 1 or 2 second stun could mean your immediate death. In this game, casters tend to have long cast times, long animation delays and slow and unpolished movement. Each cast of a spell and positioning itself could take seconds. So a standard 2 second stun wouldn’t have as much impact unless you precast something. Since things take so bloody long in this game, it’s expected that the CC will last longer so they can setup.

  2. Sleep is a lvl 1 CC. So many counters - Easily resisted by Dispeller.

  3. By SPR

  4. By Oracle’s prophecy.

  5. By Plague Doctor’s Bloodletting and Beakmask.

  6. Sleep takes a long time to cast and aim. It usually has a high chance of missing if you’re not a good wiz and can’t predict where your opponent moves. You’re a ■■■■■■■ barb for goodness sake, mobility (through running) is supposed to be your forte, so USE it. The fact that the wiz could land it either shows that S/HE is good or YOU are bad.
Git gud and don’t complain where you have NO understanding of the mechanics of the game.

  7. This game is balanced around GROUP PvP and PvE content not 1v1 PvP which is pointless. It is not a dueling game.

Notwithstanding the above, I’m not saying that things cannot be changed or revised. For example, did you know that Cryo freeze was nerfed for PvP to half the duration? -the more you know-

The point is, where it is appropriate, balance changes ought to be put in place. Sleep, a lvl 1 CC which is easy to miss, isn’t one of those.

Yes lets nerf something based on a 1v1. Lets just balance the whole game around 1v1, Clerics can heal - that’s not fair in 1v1 fights so please remove healing.

Get what I’m saying? Use your head…

Thanks to all of you guys!

Now i know this game is pretty unbalanced and i have to reroll an OP class great!

It was never buffed, in icbt2 I had been trying to tell everyone countless time how sleep is an instant cast AOE 17 second debuff.

Except there is a high chance to resist it, and you can actually avoid it if you know how it works. OP just don’t know how to deal with them.

@elysium
Sleep is instant cast, but it take slight delay after the cast before the sleep came into effect. Also, the effect linger there for like 2 to 3 seconds.

So ya, it maybe slightly hard but OP can avoid it just like how many wizard knew how to fight against sleep.

@Ivorax
You will never win 1v1 against a PVP class as a non PVP class, that’s not even about being OP, it’s just how every game works.

Or maybe just git gud at your own class.

[Edit]

@Mirarara sleep is not an instant cast. Not sure where you’re getting that from.

Sleep is instant cast but it can be resisted and easy to avoid

It’s not an instant cast. Unless I’m misunderstanding what you’re talking about or I built my wizard wrong. I see the same little charge bar pop up at the bottom meaning I have to charge before casting. However it is easy to be avoided / resisted.

You don’t need to full charge it, just aim at the target then release.

But don’t you have to charge it for full effect? So it’s so broken you can get the 14+ seconds without fully charging it??
