#General
Greetings! would be citizens of future Klapedia, Karjalainen here. Like everyone else my first mmo was Ragnarok Online. However it was IMC games 1st mmorpg Granado Espada where I fully committed in mmorpg gaming. In GE you’ll collect multiple characters rather than build a single one.
My favorite character at that time was Mia Karjalainen. Hence I took on her name in the various fansites in ToS.
Karjalainen in her best cosume
Tree of Savior, the long awaited ‘True RO2’ finally became available for 7,000+ people to test. I got a cbt key on the 2nd key releases so there wasn’t really enough time for me to play the game. So I’ll just try out the 4 basic classes instead of grinding. I didn’t bother grinding anyway since all data would be wipe in a few days, so I didn’t really feel the complaint on low EXP rate other were complaining about. The problem was the main quest progress was too fast and I end up going to the next main quest under leveled. I didn’t know where the repeatable quests were for me to grind EXP cards.
My priority was the swordsman classes since I always primarily pick a female swordsman as my first character or a male mage, if I didn’t like the female armors/costume when trying mmos. I did like the swordsman costumes but not the Highlander costumes both male and female.
So log-in game and create character, the first 30 minutes was spent deciding which is the prettiest hair to pair with the Highlander costume while enjoying the background music, reminiscent of very old RPGs.
Come gameplay I tried keyboard, mouse, and controller/joypad. I preferred playing with the keyboard more. Joypad would really be more practical but I’m not used to it hence I remained using the keyboard.
Playing swordsman is basic as it goes, get in close and slash enemies to death. I prefer to like Bash than Thrust, despite Thrust having more attribute bonuses. More than once I kept missing my Thrust attack and wasting SP, while Bash seem to have a larger area that guarantees hitting my target.
Before playing Highlander I already bought a 2H-sword and upgraded it, the moment I change job into a Highlander and equip a 2H-sword everything was like slicing through butter. Cartar stroke was my favorite skill with only a split second casting time and a multi hit attack. Wagon wheel tends ruing grinding as it pushes away the enemies if they survived. Wagon is more of a finisher when just killing normal mobs. Crown is a INT debuff. Crossguard I wasn’t able to take for the sake of testing, but I find it useless as it better to just manually evade an attack that sitting still and hope you can block the attack. IMC need to change the mechanic with crossguard the makes the highlander want to get hit rather than run away.
After finishing crystal dungeon I made a new swordsman again this time a Peltast. It is exactly a class that I wanted to play, a really high defense class. Defense from bonus from Guardian isn’t really needed as you constantly block attacks. Swashbuckling is bread and butter of the class as it easily gathers the mob by aggroing for easy killing. Umblo blow and Rim blow feels additional Bash but with more bonus dues to their attribute. Though the peltast has high defense I often became overconfident thinking I can take the damage and end up dying.
After finishing Crystal dungeon again with the peltast, I made a Wizard and Archer to get to feel them and test them for awhile. and tested the ‘Bot/AFK’ mode if it really worked. I does work well in a party.
The last day I made a cleric, but it was so laggy and there were much enjoyment in the main town that I gave up on trying out the class. Much of my last day of game play was spent goofing around Klapedia and watching my FPS drop into abyss during the GM boss summons.
In comparison to Ragnarok, ToS definitely re-immerse the feeling of nostalgia on the novice days. But that was so long ago and I didn’t fully commit to the game, I only played it because it was popular. As such I can only see ToS as graphically similar to RO.
Also Klapedia reminds me of Geffen.
In comparison to Granado Espada, I’ve got a lot to tell. The first time I found out ToS was via a poster which I recognized the art style.
#MAGGI!

Maggi was the character designer for Granado Espada. So any game with Maggi as character designer will surely fit into my taste. Watching the trailer and looking at the character sprites from Steparu…(redacted)
Music reminds me of GE more than RO, just compare then to RO soundtracts and GE soundtracts. In fact IMC reused Piano War from GE as one of the BGMs, but perhaps it was just a place holder for beta. Also they reused some pistols design from GE aswell.
Character design was even far from RO, RO was designed as a fantasy with a touch of modern clothes in relation to the character designs in the manwha Ragnarok by Lee Myung Jin.
While ToS was similar to how characters in GE were designed as Baroque and Renaissance influenced Costumes.
In comparison to GE the class design look similar as to this reddit post.
Content wise there a lot in comparison to GE but im just gonna point it in bullets else I’ll be writing a novel.
- Basic NPC sellers look like as they are in GE… Leticia item seller in GE
- Goddess statues everywhere, just like in GE where Pioneer memorial Statues are everywhere.
- Arena battle were a daily event in GE, it offered PvP points to either buy items or exp
- Transition between zones where the music plays before the zone loads
- Some commands in GE like !! works aswell in chat
- The BLOCKING sound is exactly the same sound effect as they used in GE
- DEX in ToS stat is similar to AGI stat in GE, a 1 stat for multiple stat upgrade.
- Skill and classes, Psychokino class is to Telekinesis stance, Hoplite class is designed on Peltast stance, Highlander class is to Sidewinder stance, Pyromancer is to Evocation Fire stance, Diverbys class is to Construction Stance, Rogue class as Calyce’s skills set
- Everyone can craft, high tier items needs to be crafted
- Auction setup is the same even
To sum it up, ToS bring memories from 2 games I played a lot and combines them into 1 title. I love ToS and will be expecting to play the full release of the game soon.
#Feedback & Suggestion
EXP is kinda ok for me, it would be nice to have more repeatable EXP card quest like Pioneering Memorial Statues in GE. Perhaps the goddess statues can offer the same feature in ToS.
Highlander skill Crossguard need to be reworked, it only add block chance so its more practical to just evade the attack rather than to attempt to block it. You the highlander player to attempt to block the attack. You may also want to include this in the Highlander class “Highland Charge” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highland_charge
Please removed the listing sold items in the auction market. Its annoying browsing through items only to have them sold ages ago once you attempt to buy them.
Allow area teleport in key areas or autopath inside towns just as in GE. Disable them during in town events.
Re-implement the existing costumes in GE into ToS.
A juke box also like in GE where we can modify our selection of BGM.
Better ?optimization? since during in town especially during the last day of boss summon and skill spamming the FPS drop to abyss.
Shared storage among created characters.
Im also going to need a pilfur pet
but most of all
#no OP item Lyndon BOXES/Gacha/Luck based premium item giver thingi
And finally an indication of the range of the skill.
#Thank you for reading this wall of Text. Ciao!
