Need some tips on Sapper build

The plan here is to create an AOE build that pretty much centers around Broom Trap till … not sure how long Broom Trap will scale in later levels but that’s why I could use some tips. Emphasis is more on PVE over PVP. Below is my planned build,

http://www.tosbase.com/tools/skill-simulator/build/zewp4p8qob/

Basically, I am planning to take a full 3 circles of Sapper for max broom trap and a couple of other things. Planned stat distribution is 2 Str : 1 Dex with the roughly 50-60 Con.

  1. Is Archer2 really the only viable option at the beginning? I have people telling me go Ranger, but I also have people telling me that it’s either Ranger3 or no Ranger. QS is umm, well, I don’t see the point in only 1 circle but I could be wrong.

  2. What options do I have at Rank 6? Cannoneer seems to be the logical step for a mainly AOE build so what is there left for rank 6? Falconer? Scout?

  3. What options does this build mainly use against flying mobs?

Thanks in advance.

Hi there, I’m a Arch C2 / Sapper C2 / Wug going Wug C2 and Cannoner. I can tell what I know about about Sapper builds since I play in kTos as a Ranger Sapper.

  1. Archer C2 is a better option because of Swift Step Attribute at C2 that gives you 25% Crit Rate. Kneeling Shot is a better Steady Aim (both lvl 5), and as Sapper you be more focus in AoE so you might want a single target skill a.k.a Multi Shot. Ranger is better for help you level up faster and if you want to go Rogue.

  2. For Rank 6 the better 2 options that I see for your build are Falconer or Rogue. If you want to go Falconer stay with Archer C2. The reason to go with Falconer is because of Circling that reduces AoE defense ratio from enemies. I don’t know much about Sapper C3 and the other skills from Falconer so don’t take this build like is the better http://www.tosbase.com/tools/skill-simulator/build/k07yfz402x/
Now Rogue you gain the ability to capture your own trap(with the attribute), with that you can capture and use your Boom Trap doing more damage that way. If you want Rogue you don’t need Archer C2, because Rogue gives you 70% of Crit Chance(Sneak Hit) and there was a bug/mechanic that if you Feint follow by Barrage, Barrage will do 2 time the damage(don’t know if was fix). Again, I don’t know much about Sapper C3 you need to check what is better http://www.tosbase.com/tools/skill-simulator/build/pbi0nk4ik5/

  3. I usually shot them down with Kneeling Shot, use Claymore or Stake Stock+Detonate Trap, don’t have to much problem. You can use two handed bows for the extra damage(attribute) if you want.

Sorry for the wall of text, hope I help you.

Just wondering, why not Falconeer for rank 6, since it pairs well with Canonneer/Archer 2?

Thanks! It’s a really helpful post, please don’t worry about the wall of text, it’s good information. I have a rough idea on how to build this one up now.

I’ll take your advice on not going Sapper C3, the reason for going that is more ‘perfectionist’ than anything and I can’t exactly justify a whole rank for just an extra 5 levels of broom trap when I can get something else from another job.

Archer2-Sapper2-Wugu2-Cannon is fine, but I previously played a Ranger2-Wugu3 and it just ate up so much resources, SP usage was insane and the cost for venoms and attribute (namely the one that decrease venom usage) was getting a little too much. Might not want to go down that route again for now, haha.

A couple questions though, A2-Sap2-Rogue-Scout-Cannoneer sounds like a neat idea as cloaking and all could save my life in higher level content while also having Flu Flu and Flare Shot as offensive material, but is it more PVP oriented? Because while it’s nice to be ready for PVP too, my emphasis is more on PVE. Also, in this build, is 2 Str 1 Dex still a good option or move to a more Dex oriented build?

ArcherC2>SapperC2-Rouge (for double broom trap)-Ranger-Cann (or switch ranger/Rogue) sounds good too. No further questions on this one, fairly straightforward.

  1. all of them work depend on what you prefer
-ar2 give you lv10 quick charge multishot and swiftstep cri buff, this work well with falconer you can do mulitshot+circling nice choice for PvE
-ra give you barrage give you easy farming at early level, steady aim is nice buff too, this work well with rogue you can feint+barrage and can do double broom trap
-QS give you catrop and pavise to lure the mob. stone shot is nice foe pvp too, pavise can protect you from missile when you lay your trap, this is another option to help in pvp

2 option at Rank 5-6 are either 2 of rogue1/scout1/falcon1 or wugushi2

3 use bow and archer skill at early, detonate trap and claymore has good dmg vs fly enemie but need setting for detonate trap and costly for claymore, at late game you’ll have help from cannon skills

Ar3>Sap2>falcon>cannon here, from my experience don’t relies on broom trap too much the skill has long CD and at lv 200+ it won’t swept mob in few hits

What you guys think of this?

I still have spare points to put in. Not sure whats good in sapper aside from Punji and Broom (and 1 lvl Claymore).

Any advice?

Currently, i’m playing Archer > Ranger > Sapper > Sapper > Rogue [nearly got Scout] , and i seem bored because it’s underpowered if compare to either fletcher or quarrel shooter, they killed mob so fast even i don’t have time to place a trap yet. Also, in higher dungeon -> higher amount of flying unit and my trap won’t be able to killed them, my feint + barrage + collar bomb are not enough to killed large group of its. Tell me one thing, if i grab scout + cannoneer, my life will be better?

I rarely used claymore trap, it’s very low damage…

i put a little con around 70 , dex 40 , else go str… Yep, i know sapper good in pvp , i just don’t like pvp but i like those skills.

cannoneer give you burst AoE dmg, scout a DoT and utilities, so scout+cannoneer won’t able to make you compete single target dmg vs those QS and fletcher. with your build your role is AoE dmg for party not the boss killer.

if you don’t like pvp you should choose falconer instead of scout.

I heard they are weak/got nerfed, so i don’t know if they are worth taking. But like i said, i still have spare points to put in somewhere so i might put them there.

I am always trying to avoid taking Oblique shot. First i done it for my scout c3 where Split Arrow would replace it so i saw no point to take a spell that i won’t use later on.
Now in this sapper build i will be using Barrage and sapper skills for aoe’s, while Critical Shot will become my spam skill to kill monsters 1 by 1.

I agree its slower progress comparing to those who take oblique, but i do value every skill point, and i feel it will be rewarding in the end.

I have updated the build.

Thanks for feedback

Thank you very much, I think I’ll give this build a try since my main is an A2-QS3-Reiter2 and I do want to try out a more grinding friendly AOE build. I doubt I can go Falconer as I have no more extra slots in my lodge. This is what I came up with :

http://www.tosbase.com/tools/skill-simulator/build/ycsy5gi53b/

I took a single point in Conceal just to ‘pvp-proof’ this character. I left out Camouflage as from my experience, it just didn’t look particularly useful when Cloaking seems like a much better version of that skill. I am not putting any points into Vendetta because well, it just does not seem very useful. Instead of going a fixed 2:1 Str/Dex, I ultimately decided to just go with 120 Dex, 60-70 Con and everything else Str.

Anything else that is sub optimal or could use some changes, do let me know, thanks.
