My ToS adventures as a Chaplain

Hi there! I was originally a Telsiai player from CBT. My founder’s pack as well as my Popolion and Hanaming dolls (greatest regret) were both left behind when I moved to Varena because of my friends, who ended up quitting anyway.

Since then, I’ve always had to solo since I normally don’t find people as meticulous as I am when it comes to gaming.

I’ve seen time and again that people make mistakes and they get discouraged. I saw myself make a lot of the same mistakes, but in the end, I’m still getting enjoyment out of the game and that’s what matters. So I continued to play, just like most of the other old players who are still here today, bittersweet as it may be for most of them.

I named my family after Joe DiMeowgio from the mobile game [Neko Atsume]. I immediately knew I had to be a Cleric, all my friends chose the other three and it seems like no one wanted to “heal”.

I did some rudimentary research on stat distribution and classes and I decided I’d become a Monk, so I went DEX heavy.

My first encounter with a Golden mob got me all excited. I didn’t understand just how much different it would be from a “Silver” mob, it turns out, it was a piñata!

Going into this game, knowing that F2P will come, I knew bots would soon flourish. Little did I realize how oddly spectacular they’d get…

Everything was important and nearly everything was worth selling back then.

I even tried to sell my Battle Bracelet and it was snubbed, so I kept it and later on sold it for 10m+.

Everything I farmed, was for the glorious Arde Dagger:

I meant this one:

I have near 0 tolerance for stupidity, so much so that I don’t let go:

Note: This was only true back in the day.

I got so irked by this that I filed a report with IMC about it, has it changed since? If not, then you guys would know exactly why people feel so averse to IMC because of the little things. They add up!

While people were busy crying about Blue Spion Archers beating the living hell out of them. I was busy not being a bad-player and actually using the available equipment to my advantage.

(Superior Royal Guard Armor and Pants were easy as f*ck to acquire, people wanna go with Cafrisun for life, they died).

Don’t go Chaplain, it falls off hard at R7 (and beyond), echoed throughout this forum and in-game. Everything falls off hard if you keep wearing your Cafrisun set and never invest in anything.

Meanwhile I’m just solo questing the hell out of the entire game.

The only time I ever considered to “grind” with a party was after I installed the EXP Calculator addon. Because I noticed that I only needed about two hours more of Maven (which I normally solo) so instead I went with a party before I popped all my EXP cards (10/11). All cards were acquired from completing monster kill achievements and full map exploration.

This was when I saw an F2P player’s sense of entitlement come into full bloom:

My choice to get an Oracle circle was purely for bot-killing purposes.

Fast forward a bit to the future and high level bots start popping up.

I rarely waste my time trying to stop bots after a while. I lose time, they don’t; they’re bots.

At R8, I’ve been successful in every aspect of the game I wanted to participate in. I’ve been through heavy DEX, heavy SPR and now full INT and the only thing that stayed consisted was that I kept my gear properly updated as necessary.

Nothing over the top though, in fact I’m still wearing two (2) pieces of +10 Zachariel Bangles.

#Your take-away from all of this should be that if you want to play a specific class, go for it!

It’s your time and effort, not anyone else’s.

Making mistakes is part of the game experience. Correcting those mistakes, for a game as supposedly varied as ToS, would be up to the individual to tackle; should they want to.

You either wait on a handout (free stuff from IMC) or you buy it with your hard-earned money. Finally, you can remake the character like I did.

My [main] took a total of three (3) iterations before I finally settled with it. They were all DEX Chaplains too!

My Chaplain (Zoe) has eaten a total of 2 Stat Reset Potions and 4 Skill Reset Potions (both free and paid).

Have fun y’all!

That was nice to read, and felt so nostalgic! I like that you’ve chronicled things like you have. It’s sad to have all your friends leave, that has happened to me. With everyone gone, I tried to keep going but I did go on hiatus for about 6-7 months. Remembering how all these things felt is pretty motivating!

aaah yes chaplain…you press z and buffing aspergillium every 1 minute for the rest of your life. :confounded:

pre chaplain it was hell. but when we got chaplain, we see 4 hits at once has been pretty satisfying

In our server, I never seen main 280++ with chaplain on their build (even if they did, it always ends up with PD2)

My entire journey (for all my characters) are chronicled with roughly 27 GBs of .avi capture and nearly 5K+ screenshots. I tried to capture every interesting thing I could :stuck_out_tongue:

It was fun when they (my IRL friends) were around and I just shifted my idea of fun when I was by myself. I challenged myself and despite the numerous mistakes, my character got to where I want to it be, without having to stop being a Chaplain.

Of course I had my alts here and there, but that’s because I (personally) found it fun to try out other classes.

I use Mouse Mode with WASD for movement and a single-click to initiate my AAs. You’re right about the rebuffing part though, I’m just glad that with Divine Might, Aspergillium and Blessing now have the same duration and makes it less annoying to “remember”.

<3 chaplain my love <3 is realy good to see more chapl players and showing how fun (in my opnion a nice class too) nice job o/

that is my exorcismus chapl <3 my love

what weapon are you using now?

I believe we should eventually change with rod when we do transcend.

I’m using a +10 Five Hammer with 5x Lv6 Red Gems (generic AF). Currently not looking into any Practonium based equipment as I’m too focused on the level up event for all my alts.

I’m going to have a Skull Smasher sooner or later. I believe this is best because it maintains being a Blunt weapon (our passive stun works and since I’m also an Inquisitor, it works well for the 3x hammer drop skill whose name eludes me) while having Magic Attack as the base for what you can transcend.

i keep my chaplain being full spr bcoz i already pick krivis for zalciai

Guys, about weapons: wouldn’t an offhand weapon like Karacha or Crystaras give us Chaplains higher damage output than if we AA’d with our 5-hammer considering that both benefit from the red gems slotted in our main weap anyway?

I would prefer using a Didel Tower Shield (or any of the new daggers with 2 slots) instead.

Since I invested in PURE INT in my case, my only source of Physical Attack is from RED GEMS. Put two of those in your shield/dagger (2 slots) and you’re good to go.

I’ve also spent a lot of time (in the past) using my dagger for AA-ing and it only works well when the opponent is weak against pierce. In the long run, it will tire you out.

Nowadays, my Chaplain clears mobs ASAP to spawn as many [Inquisitor: Burn]s as I could. These stationary pillars of fire AA faster than I could.

I’m mostly Heal and Cure bombing enemies as well with Lv75 attributes for both as well as Aspersion at Lv80. A 3x3 Heal hit on most bosses (this would be your normal case) goes for 80K ~ 100K, then 2x of that. Output is even better versus [dark] mobs.

I use Magnus Exo every chance I could, I make sure the Exorcise circle isn’t overly stepped on as it would fail to trigger ME if that’s the case.

Ah, agree with you on all points. I’m also Int, but with 30 Con. The comparison I was trying to make was between AA’ing using the Five Hammer vs. AA’ing using the dagger. In that situation, wouldn’t the dagger win out? (assuming it is a Karacha or at least a Crystaras)

Oh and apologies but, what do you mean by “it will tire you out”?

Each attack using your secondary weapon is [1] button press per attack.
Whereas clicking the target and having it AA with your main weapon takes a single action.

You’re right, like I stated, in certain cases using your Dagger for attacking is better albeit tiresome.

@DiMeowgio

Men, your topic is awesome. Congratulations.
