My thoughts on the beta

There is still one day remaining for the beta, but I’ve just about checked out. I’ll still be playing, but mostly just to test sapper. So consider this my feedback.

The Grind. Let’s get this out of the way first, I think the exp rate needs to increased only a small amount. 1.5 - 2 times what it is now. I think the main issue is the monster density and short term incentive to grind. As of right now, there seems to be dead level ranges where there is nothing good to grind in the zones the game leads us to. So we’re forced to go to the zone before to grind. Even if the level range isn’t a dead zone, there is still only 1 good spot to grind. Obviously, even if you increase the density in other areas one area will shine above the others, but it is still good to have the option to go somewhere else. Maybe the 1 good area is super crowded or maybe you just want a change of pace. On to short term incentive, I’d like to see rare item drops. Something that gives us that “maybe if I put in 1 more hour here, I’ll get a rare drop.” Plus, its exciting when you get a rare drop, you let your friends know you just got an item that will help you guys push to an even higher area because you can now handle harder monsters.

Archers Viability. I played an archer in the beta and to be honest, I don’t think they’re viable for the grindy game as they are now. The way the game is set up is to gather large groups of monsters and AoE them down, the issue here is that most archer classes don’t have AoE. If a player is looking for an optimized archer, they need to go Ranger and Sapper. That is the only route they can take to make them viable. The only solution I can think of for this is to give archers penetrating arrows. Not infinitely penetrating, but maybe 3-5 monsters? This would give archers the same trait every other class has. It might not work perfectly, but it’s definitely a step in the right direction.

Etc. This is just minor things.
The chat box. The design is gross. It serves no purpose to see the characters face when they say something in chat, it just takes up space. The chat bubbles aren’t necessary, also just takes up space. I feel it would be a nice touch to allow the user to create their own chat tab. Maybe I want to see my guild chat, party chat, and whispers. With this chat box, I need to keep switching around.

I would REALLY like to see control customization. Able to set my own keys for movement, inventory, and things such as that.

Other than that, I really enjoyed my time in the beta. It was fun and I made a few friends. I’ll be looking forward for my next opportunity to play the game.
