My solution to overcrowded grinding spots: an optional PK channel

Mm…this is not needed. They will implement WoE in the future perhaps. Minimize the griefing I can suspect in the future … At least with a type of large scale PvP similar to WoE it has a great purpose and easily can be tied into lore and story. The style of this game also…how can there not be some sort of seige or castles happening as well with some classes such as squire.

Tldr: this will only bring negativity/grief in the end and adding PvP just to add. A form of WoE is acceptable because its organized competitive PvP while also being beneficial to the story.

As others said, this is not a solution. If you want a PK channel good for you, take a cookie and do a thread that actually says “lets have a pk channel cause it’s fun”, don’t try to put it as a solution to overcrowded grind spots on existing channels, cause it’s not.

For people saying the games not made for world PVP.

World PVP already exists in the game. It’s in the games data and has a lot of code dedicated to it. It’s just not been enabled yet.

Let’s make a PK server so we can grief newbies to OBLIVION so they’ll never want to play the game ever again!

=D

(laughes a villainous laugh)

The truth is… I’m the real antagonist of Tree of Savior! The revelation will never come true! NEVER!

Can you elaborate on it? Maybe here or in a new thread?

I mean, can you look at the code and figure out how the system is supposed to work? Like a karma system and things along those lines. I’m really curious about it. Is that possible?

How can you tell the specific use of that code. What are the statements and conditions included for that to work?

You say ‘World PvP’ but could just as easily be used on single map entities which count as their own little segment ‘worlds’

It could just be an elaborate string that activates when going into the arena or activating WoE on any given map/s.

Could you please provide the data info to us? Curious as well.

You haven’t read the contents of the those two liner xml files. World pvp is what 5vs5 is called there.

Anyway, I don’t see at all in what way a PK channel is supposed to solve overcrowding. In the end it’s just another channel, one of many after the release.

I honestly can’t belive people are still suggesting stuff like this in 2015, it’s been tried countless times and it never works for the simple reason that the pvp channels just turns into that one channel where really high level characters go camp low level grind spot just to kill everybody for giggles.

Just take garden, in a pvp channel you would have a few level 100-150+ camping the warp statue constantly and killing anybody the warps in the map to try and go grind. They could even lay down floor effects like the cleric spells so you trigger them when you zone in and die instantly.

Why would a level 100-150+ grind in Garden? What are you even talking about

Also what does being 2015 have to do with this?

Then maybe they should’ve come more prepared and not taken the direct route and just teleported nearby. If someone is complaining about getting PK’d on something which is completely optional, then they’re the ones in the wrong. Literally all they need to do if they don’t want to deal with other players is switch channel.

Also the issue you mentioned could easily be mitigated by making the area around the warp statue a safe zone. Sure people can still stand right outside it, but you have all the time in the world to prepare yourself by then. This one-dimensional thinking of blaming absolutely everything but themselves is the reason why people would complain about it in the first place.

Generally there is a way to circumvent everything, it’s just up to the players to take the initiative. Or you know, just switch channels if you don’t want to bother. Both are perfectly valid options.

I can’t think of a single game that’s had channels dedicated to world pvp and other channels meant for just pve. PvP servers are not the same thing since the whole world is open pvp (except towns)

And no, a 150 would not be hanging out in low level areas to PK lowbies unless they were a total cock and could easily be run out by someone else higher level that wants to defend the people grinding there. And they can easily prevent spawn camping by not allowing PvP enabled skills to be set around statues and other spawn zones and a number of ways to streamline it. Or just not allowing a person to pvp on a map if they out level it too much

I don’t know why some of you seem to think open pvp means you’re going to die the second you go anywhere in the game world and that there’s no way to prevent assbags from being assbags on the dev’s side.

Welcome to PvP servers, were 99,99% of the players are cock and will kill lowbies for the lulz, scalating into party wars just at the exit of klaipedia.

Seriusly. Is like you have never been on a pk game before, almost if you were new on the internet.

I can’t see otdoor pk in ToS. I see more like WoE (Guild vs Guild castle sieges) events, PvP Arena, etc…
Really… having the game divided in channels is horrible, i don’t know why is that so much popular in Korea…

Man, you people really suck at reading.

If overcrowded grind spots are an issue, then the simplest way to fix it is to increase mob density/spawn rates or add another channel. Skipping those options and going straight to a pk channel would be “dang, there’s no good grind spots left, my only option is to go to the pk channel and risk being killed by other players. I just wanted to grind and do pve atm.” I believe players should go to the pk channel because they want that kind of pvp, not because there are no more grind spots in the normal channels.

Wanting a pk channel because you want OWPVP is fine, but to want Pk channel to mitigate overcrowding is not why you should implement it when there are easier and more effective to do so. IMC should implement pk channel because they see there is a big enough market for it in their playerbase/feedbacks and/or they simply feel it fits into what they want for this game.

And no, I’m not contesting pk channels, just the title seems a bit off to me.

I love OP’s idea. The group vs group and guild vs guild squabbles over boss and coveted farming spawns would be legendary. And it isn’t like this forces PVP on anyone. Just stay in the safe channels.

Bumping an old idea that was bad at the time for reasons stated, but it would actually be pretty funny in this state of the game to clear bots and AFK farmers. I still will never agree on giving any exp advantages or anything though since it’s meant for PVP not farming.

:chicken: ARISE CHICKEN ARISE! :chicken:

I would like it, but only if players in level range from 10 levels lower to ten levels higher than the map were allowed there for leveling purposes. That way 280s couldn’t go to Dina Bee Farm and just mow through players trying to level.
