My Personal Feedback

Good morning Community,
Good morning DEVs

First of all, thank you for the Beta Key for this game. this Game offers me so much Old-School feeling that i cannot stop playing it and i am already sad couze the servers will go down soon :frowning:

I would like to start with the things i really enjoy in ToS:

Positive:

  • Job System, i loved it in RO aswell
  • The Grind for Rare Drops
  • Gem System / Upgrade System from Items
  • “Open World” Dungeons and “Instanced” Dungeons
  • Buy-In Shop / Upgrade - Repair Systems from Squires / Alch for Potions

Negatives:

  • too much “corridor” Maps, i really enjoy the Dungeon ones more
  • Keyboard Settings which cannot be changed, especially the basic attack/jump one because on my European Keyboard Z/X isnt next to each other.
  • too less Grind spots on the Maps
  • on the mid levels, channels getting pretty low, most of the time we have 1 channel which is already filled enough with just 1-2 points (depending on the map size)

Alright, now i would like to post some Ideas how to change the Negative ones, to positives.

  • Corridor Maps, since things are done, i dont think they gonna revamp all the maps, but of course i hope the future Maps which may get released on higher levels become more “open world” then the ones we have now.

  • Keyboard Settings should be allowed to personalize, let me change all controll settings please

The next point is the one which drives me crazy the most

  • We dont have enough channels to make grinding aviable for everyone, who wants to grind. There needs to be atleast a minimum of 10 channels for each map, especially at the first year of the game, because alot people will start farming collections items (take the great drop rate of Tanu Flower), rare recipes (legendary ones for sure) and alot of Crafting Materials.

The game design is based upon farming, the Economy is based upon farming.

we farmed weapons in Ragnarok Online, we farm recipes in ToS
we farmed enemy cards in Ragnarok Online, we farm Gems in ToS
we farmed materials in Ragnarok Online, we farm materials in ToS

dear Dev Team, make it happen please  we need more channels! let everyone be allowed to farm/grind solo/party if they want to, i know u cannot control how much people may farm on a specific time, but with more channels we atleast have a higher chance of a farm spot.

Thanks for reading
Have a nice day in ToS

I agree on some points, such as the channels and the keyboard bindings, those could use a change. The ‘linear maps’ however I have to disagree. It may seem linear in the sense of going one direction, but thats jsut leading you through the level of the zones. You can go off to any location you wish, as you could back in RO, but some zones will be far tougher to survive depending on your level. Sure, they could make multiple different level 15 zones, like on RO how you could go outside pront, payon, morocc, or gefen to fight low level enemies, but they have various zones a bit later in here that are like that. There are multiple locations across the map with level 50-60, 70-80, and so forth. Dungeons in various locations as well as fields that offer the same relative enemy levels. This game is far less linear than many seem to realize. Sure, its not as open as RO was, but its far more open than most the games I have played.

yea u are right about the linear point, because i failed to explain what i meant with that, what i am mean is that most maps just have “corridor” everything is just a path with some fields in it, which take away (my personal mind) the grind spots, yea the mainstory and quest show you the way and sure on the mid level we have more then just one map which has arround the same level.

i am going to edit it xD sorry

I gave up at lvl 100 on 2 characters, not because of slow lvling which is still easy but just because how boring it is. You are punished for fighting monsters that are too strong for your lvl. You can’t start quests unless you are a certain lvl. Every zone feels the exact same over and over again (melee, archer, mage) with the only difference of the mage having different skills. The other mob skills don’t even matter. Yes I went to all the maps I could go to, done all the quests I could and honestly when the game would be out I wouldn’t even get to lvl 100 before deciding the game is just like all the others out there with a few unique features. I even went to the next town at lvl 60 just to explore a bit and lets be honest, it’s not like there’s any mob that can catch up to our walking speeds. The only thing that can possibly kill you is magic or an arrow that acts like a homing missile.

As you mentioned RO, do you remember mimic for example? I really feared that mob, just the sound of it move around made me sit on the edge of my chair ready to fly wing away or try counter it if I didn’t ■■■■ up. In ToS I’ve been using a controller because this game feels more like a hack & slash then a serious MMORPG, only reason you’d die is world bosses and fighting mobs that are too high according to the “rules” of the game which then will just punish you. Nice freedom, totally not linear at all.

according to your post about RO u meant the sense of danger fighting normal mobs i guess ^^, well since the world map already aviable for up to level 400 atleast out of database sites, yes i am missing the danger too in some ways.

Since this is the Beta may they going to add such things again, i mean its just enemys they need to add too or going to enhance the elite mobs with more dmg and always on aggro and give them more movement speed.

about the fact that this game plays more like a hack’n Slash game, thats probably true, I enjoyed RO as i do ToS, both games have their pros and cons. I have to mention that my Crit Knight build back in RO 98% of the time just auto attacked mobs which basicly bored me as hell thats why i rather prefere the new combat where skills for every class or most classes atleast getting a use.
