My own thoughts on all the talk concerning founder packs

i think its too early to talk about server transfer - but yes if thats possible itll be unfair for new server to meet a monster - at least for competitive player - thats true

but i have my doubts that this will happen any time soon - maybe in a year or two

the only real advantage i see from paying players is the added movement speed - wich i dont agree with (as for now - didn see any game breaking item mall content according to tosbase)

Contains a variety of special benefits for all your characters in this server for 30 days. Right-click to use.
[Token Benefits]

  • Able to learn up to 2 attributes simultaneously
  • Reduced Market commission fee (30%{img white_right_arrow 16 16}10%)
  • Able to list up to 5 items on the Market
  • +3 increased character movement speed
  • +20% EXP from hunting monsters
(Stacks with the Internet Cafe benefits & EXP Tome effect)

as an old pvp fanatic i know movement + positioning matters alot - being faster than your opponent is a huge advantage

The point is that the community should’ve stood up to this, all together. Instead of dividing and being rich kid elitists.

I personally can’t pay for this now. I was certainly planning to buy a costume or two somewhere down the line, when I decided on my main class and all that stuff.

But this now, everyone should’ve been against them, together. Just force them to give us a normal f2p launch with shop.

They should also put some more faith into their playerbase. Make supporter packs that give cosmetics and maybe some forum titles or whatever that show that you are a supporter.

Earn support, don’t force players to do it.

This a very wrong way to go.

Look at PoE. They are creative about their ■■■■, they let players pay to create their own unique item that will be added to the game for everyone to be able to obtain within the game.

Among other things. It’s not that hard.

TLDR
But here’s my side. I’ll pay if it’s B2P but no it’s freaking F2P after 3 months!

I actually honestly thought the 600TP was an act of clemency (the only act of clemency) towards players and a sort of investment. A weird one though- why would you essentially refund players obviously willing to pay 50 in-game anyways by creating a detriment to your more stable source of money?

But I thought about it and realized this makes much, much more sense as a cash grab. The game isn’t doing well in KR, so they find a way to lock in a guranteed “profit” before the international version dies. That way, the 600TP they give you doesn’t even matter, since the currency is more or less worthless with the amount of time it’s expected to be active. The lack of communication and the complete disrespect in which they treat their audience through timing and judgement is indicative of this, along with the relatively ridiculous price. No, I do not think $50 alone is a lot of money, but it is, as others have said, quite a price in comparison to other games. This is not even a finished game. Putting that price tag is feeding on the desperation and impatience of people, and they willfully generated that through their vague “soon” announcement. The 3 month divide is no issue if they aren’t expecting their playerbase to grow past those three months anyways.

I do not want to give money to a company that doesn’t even think their own game will succeed. Say, even if they had opened a Patreon, and requested for help with clear communication and intentions, I would have forked over the cash easily. It’s a matter of respect, for both themselves and the players.

This is coming from someone who seriously had faith in IMC and the game heh. Why else would I have made artwork and contributed to the translation project? I expected nothing except an honest company, and it’s just jarring to see them not even live up to that.

IMC doesn’t look like a dishonest developer, they do have a few games behind them. While it certainly could be a cash grab, but with the efforts put in the game assets it just makes it less likely. The art + music is world class which means they were (at least at certain point in development) making the best possible game.

A more likely explanation is that they are short on liquidity, which could be due to a key investor pulling out / publishing cost exceeding estimates etc.

wheres your source of IMC statement to this?

if they dont think their own game will succeed they will stop developing it or recycle it to another company wich takes over

why would they bother rushing an international release after all the thousend calls of people saying they want it here and now?

even if it fails in korea it doesn mean itll fail in our international version - look at echo of soul - asian server closed but the international version is still recieving constant updates (even i hate to say this cause i dont like the game at all…)

a big part of the community feels “betrayed” - i put my own thoughts on this and cannot udnerstand most people going mad on this but i am not the whole or big part of the community - IMC should react to this soon - make a statement to their recent announcement

but i dont agree with people making bad calls saying “imc wanna scam us they just want our money and clsoe the server in a few weeks later” ive read these illuminati posts on dozen of games wich exist years after

imc wants our money yes - but not because they intend on closing the game but to keep giving us new patches + paying for their own families … there are real people behind IMC not a computer who wanna end the world

Oh no, I don’t think the devs are dishonest. I think the work put into the game, before it was released in KR, is wonderful. Their thank you gestures to cbt testers and everything from the art to the music composition is stunning. The modeling work, the sprite details, the animations- trust me, I was so damn hyped for this game. I posted the little song they made for the players on social networks because I thought it was the most adorable, heartwarming gesture from mmorpg devs.

However, I think the people running company itself are dishonest. I’ve never seen a move that so obviously pins its paying players as guillible and easily taken advantage of. Like I said, if they were short on funds, even asking for crowdsourced funds is better. This would cause far less problems in the long run, and certainly could have avoided all this debate and distrust. They had already crowdsourced translations, I honestly don’t see why they couldn’t of have gone this route other than the mere fact that they don’t think they can get people to pay for their own game without a bait-and-switch tactic.

@sephi4321, I understand that IMC needs money, as someone who is looking to go into the game industry, but it is the manner in which they are getting it that makes me not want to trust them. Like I said, I was completely ready to drop 50+ on the game myself. I actually cashed in a sitting check for an internship just for this game.

They NEED to make profit from this game or cut even, at least. That’s why they keep the game, and rush its release.

I am not the one who believed from the start that this game would fail in international audiences. It is the impression I get that the company is the one who thinks this. Why would I have ever gotten so invested in a game I believed would fail?

They would be absolutely insane if they publically stated that they didn’t have faith in their own game. I’m using basic reasoning to come to this conclusion.

I still want this game to make it, but I don’t want to support these kinds of practices. That’s all there is to it. In my fantasy dream world, this game would be sustainable on a B2P model that was announced from the very beginning.

This could have been the superior option. But for better or worse they chose early access so that’s what we got. Not all boards of directors makes good decisions.

All that matters to me is if this is a fundraiser or a “cash grab”. To me it’s more likely the former and not the latter, for the amount of work put in, plus being a reputable developer that had a few games behind them.

The announcements were handled poorly, that is for sure but no company is perfect and this is the first strike off a very fantastic track record for ToS community / staff.

its not fully B2P - just early access (wich blizzard also runs nowadays- heroes of the storm was early access for 1 year + key events meanwhile for free users)

you dont pay for the game you pay for the early access - sicne they announced that itll be available on steam it was predictable that this gonna have an early access - and people been asking for early access months ago already!

also ive read months ago that this is IMCs first act as a publisher for their own game (correct me if im wrong but im sure i read it somewhere on this forum) they try to please everybody and make everyone happy - as i said people called and craved for an early access and IMC give it to us i am happy about it so are hundrets of others

I hope we get a clarification from one of these guys. It’s really important to know this information =/ @STAFF_John @STAFF_Ines @STAFF_J @STAFF_Ethan @STAFF_Shawn

Man, have you read anything posted above?

First, respect other people, stop with those offensive kinda nicknames.

We all said, we know IMC is a company, and they need money.
But we do disagree the way they did it. That dickmove, bait-and-switch tactic.

I agree with @Darumy : even crowdsourced funding would have been so much better.
I also agree that people would be a lot more happy and spend money as much(if not more) on the cash shop if they could access the game as an open beta.

People are dissatisfied with IMC’s attitudes and comunication(more like the lack of them) towards us players.

Well I have read both sides of the arguments and here’s my thoughts to IMC’s latest announcement.

Do I think it is a cash grab?
Yes I think it is. Why? Because this could be announced way before hand like at the same time they announced Open Beta (which I think was deleted) - I think “to prevent botters” is just another freaking lie. Those that gave examples of this is a business, they need money, bla bla bla, are the reason companies like EA, Ubisoft, Konami and some other sh1t sauce companies continue to take advantage of us gamers.

Also, $49.99 is too expensive for a 3 months game play, which will become free to play in like 3 months?! I lol’ed so hard at this.

Anyways, this game is just turning into another disappointment (like Mighty no.9), people like me trust these developers to do their job (a good job), but see how they treat us? Idiots that’s what.

I may or may not forget this game come June. It will be summer by then and there will be tons of new games coming out.

Thanks for reading :joy:

P.s The more you accept these kind of treatments from game developers/companies, the more we get bamboozled.

P.s.s Added something for you readers to watch

i totally agree with this

(as ive mentioned before i heard or read months ago that this is IMCs first attempt on publishing a game - long ago tho so somebody please correct me if i misread it back then) guess some of the staff member think that it might work - of course it wont since the game releases in 3 months for free so ya…idk its kinda silly i agree with that - they could have stated as things are - they need cash to pay their bills

so many agreements - well youre right with this as well EA turned into something i dont wanna mention here but ya…

basically its about 15-20 USD (depending on how much worth tokens are) so you pay kinda 5-8 USD for each month - wich is still alot yes - but not much anymore if you compare it to “i win” items in other games item malls - if paying 5 dollar more in order to play prevents us from having the “1000 dollar and win” stuff in our item mall then i gladly will
