Leveling:
-Too slow in general for low level content, allow the player to at least reach rank 3-4 at a somewhat nice pace since you could potentially be stuck with wizard 3 (i don’t even want to imagine how bad it is). Note that while i think this is an issue because the “casual filter” hits extremely fast and WILL hurt the game if nothing is changed, it is for me nowhere as bad as the following points.
-Lack of grinding spots, there’s like one or two decent spots per “level range” and you’re going to stay for 15+ level in each. Most maps are useless.
-Lack of variety in the grinding method due to many reasons. Most mobs moves like snails and their leash range is weak making it impossible for long distance multi way pulls. All mobs exp is more or less the same at their level range which is bad imo, as you could have some locations with a fair amount of stronger mobs giving more xp for higher risks, would also make it a decent spot for single target characters which honestly are a liability in the current game.
-Due to blue mobs being a thing, you pretty much only want to stay in area where the spawns are insanly fast (which goes back to my previous point), i think a rework on blue is be necessary (lower their exp but increase their spawn rate, or lower their exp but increase the exp of mobs in general) but i don’t want to see them gone as it is kinda fun to manage to snipe one right under the nose of another player/party. Also supposedly gives more meaning to Chronomancer and Thaumaturge due to some of their skills. Considering having those mobs have higher chance to be found in area with few spawns could also be a good idea.
-Lack of channels, coupled with the lack of grinding spots led to grinding being a mess since the competition was high.
-Currently this game leveling is luck based and limited to camping or running around locations with fast and numerous spawns.
Art and Audio:
-Pretty good all around.
-The music are catchy and actually made me want to keep up with the grind or exploring the maps.
-The maps are overall pretty well done visually, maybe a bit dull sometimes color wise.
-The mob in general lack personality i think, i honestly didn’t really cared about them, but i kinda like those onions mobs.
Controls:
-The general movement feels good, walking around, jumping and smacking thing is fun enough. But…
-Mouse was great outside of some annoying bugs (like always moving after talking to an NPC for some unknown reasons), but i ended up stopping using it because jump attacking with it on wizard for a long period of time was frankly horrible. I also couldn’t get my azerty keyboard to go into qwerty making the keyboard + mouse control sheme more or less impossible.
-I saw in some threads it was possible to edit the files directly to change the controls, consider allowing changing controls directly from the game.
-Keyboard was pretty good, outside of the Tab targetting that has really strange targetting priority. Want to kill a mob sitting next to you, better target those at the edge of your screen first, and sometimes it wouldn’t even bother trying to select that mob.
-I don’t have a good pad, i imagine it must be comfy outside of the targetting for ranged characters and using the menus/etc.
-Some stairs are sometimes hard to walk throught and jumping doesn’t help, i wish i had taken screenshot of those for bug reports but sadly, i didn’t. My bad.
Combat:
-Overall the game is pretty easy when you start to get the hang of it. A few boss stand out like that poisonous worm but it’s globally pretty easy.
-I know jump attacking has many fans and i honestly loved doing it, but it’s the main reason i felt the game was easy for a wizard. My only source of damage were autos and energy bolts and both could be used by jump attacking, because i’m basically constantly on the move i couldn’t really get hit by most attacks.
-Boss in this game are damage sponges when it comes to solo play, something i noticed is that if you went solo they would take years to die, but if you went in as a party they would melt before doing much (might be because i had a barbarian every single time though).
-Overall i think boss should act faster be it in the delay between attack patterns and the pattern themselves but lose hp as a result.
-Boss using long duration invulnerability moves were more infuriating than anything else, especially because once again, those are hp sponges.
-I personally do not really like those traps that pops from nowhere during boss fights, it feels off visually and doesn’t really feel interesting as a mechanic outside of making sure most skills that require something to die get an actual use.
-Ranged mobs are made to be bullies, melee mobs are made for bullying.
-Consider having some skills work on boss but with reduced duration/effects instead of a flat immunity. It would be nice to be able to use sleep on a boss and have it last like 3s or something.
Features/Misc:
-I saw this in another thread but gem upgrading requirements seems a bit harsh. Maybe it gets easier later on but somehow i doubt it.
-Mind looks like a terrible stat in general. It feels like it could have some use in the early levels as you’re honestly mana starved, at least as a wizard, but it’s manageable with pots. Also the natural mana regen is so slow it doesn’t really help it’s case. Maybe make more stuff scale out of con and mind, potions could give more hp or sp depending on those stats, mind could slightly increase the mana regen speed per points. In general i feel the stats need to be balanced out.
-Consider remembering which chat option you were using upon map changes, it felt odd being in party chat and suddenly sending a text in normal chat because you went repairing or whatever.
-Games seems a bit linear, my main issue with this is that leveling a new character will always feel the same especially if the grinding spots issue is not getting fixed.
Wizard feedback:
-Wizard should be considered a support class instead of an offensive one. Their damage skills do terrible damage and pale in comparison to sleep or energy shield (both utlility/support). I’m also sure people planning to go wiz3 mostly do it for safe cast and faster cast time which once again is mostly utility. Lethargy looks pretty useless at first sight.
Leveling with one felt terrible and during parties i felt like a liability. I think they have potential for pvp.
-Linker is pretty good, everything is strong, and i could see myself not regretting going linker 2 as being able to share all the buffs, cc them longer and link even more enemies sounds strong. I honestly can’t complain about that class.
-I’ll add the “i wanted to make a str wizard” talk into the mix, i honestly didn’t expect it to be any good but i’m still confused as to why they can use sword or maces if all they can do with them is throwing magic bolts.
Overall despise being mostly negative, i think the game has a huge potential if bugs and some issues get ironed out. I honestly had fun with it when i got to linker, even if the grind felt too heavy it was a peasure playing or exploring with that character.
See you in the next cbt.
