My honest opinion from lvl1-200 as Melee

Hi there , i´ve been gifted the key by a dear friend of mine who left for “reasons” not wanting to burn out so i took it upon me to get the lvl cap and test every feature available in this CBT.

early game i got totally hooked , wow this is fun , the artstyle the effects the gameplay random loot “honeymoonphase.exe” do quests do this check market buy stuff sell stuff look up tosbase for drops yadda yadda decide who deals most dmg from swordsman to highlander oh its barb okay then.

fast forward from feedback we´ve seen before -
there is a severe density issue in higher areas , there are several maps with empty corners , completely empty.
Itemization - there are 3 tiers , white garbage , blue above agarbage , great blue everyone wants or purple for the lvl/orange. which requires the prior blue tier item once or twice at least.
There aren´t nearly enough items for every class and lvl gap to justify the grind.
Hey im going to rush to lategame and having no replay value because i already got the items from market/ by lucky drop.
Itemization problems - the best bracer is Gladiator Band from a lvl 80 fieldboss with stupid stats compared to later levels 86 critattack 16 str AND aoe ratio?
MDEF and physdef have no real mitigation - i receive the same dmg from lvl90 necroventer boss than i do from 160+ wizard lizard and i can dodge that sometimes but i cant dodge any of his spells.
after that 130 at lvl200 i dodge 90 of both mineloader and harpeia spells.

DENSITY DENSITY DENSITY , take a close look at Tenet Garden - its every grinders dream 20-40 mobs in a corner - fast respawn - look at verkty square 5-8 mobs in any corner and one of them can oneshot twoshot you if thats not enough also freezes (goblin wizard warlock watev needs srs retuning)

Droprates , i farm 5000minos never see a 2h aston sword , i buy 2 of them after days of farming with 5 whiteminos too , uncle billy joe walks around kills 5 minos gets a 2h sword - okay its random but somehow fam.

Recipe requirements , why does a lvl 80 (gladiator band) require a lvl 40 blue very rare drop from a mob that spawns 4-5times on a 60 second cooldown in a scattered area?
who in their right mind is going to say : im going to grind here now for 24 hours and MAYBe get one battle bracelet.
correct : no1 except for incredibly dedicated no self-respect people.

Cicel Bracelet - requires yet again a rare blue bracelet and the description is misleading , youve to MISS a mob , who misses a mob even with 0 dex spent ? correct almost nobody , ive only seen 1 miss ever and that was on a lepusbunny cause theyve high evasion apparently.

so this 170 rare bracelet requires you to MISS a mob , to trigger its effect instead of AVOIDING an attack or spell as it says.

QQing aside - there are not nearly enough choices in itemization , youve slightly worse and best in slot for every lvl - sometimes even with questionable mods “dmg dealt to insects plus 40” oh gee that sure is good.
meanwhile a lvl120 item of purple or orange has 4 mods and all make sense.
what else is there to say - attackratios are completely imbalanced across all cla sses.
Utility and heal and dmg in one class should never exist.
The filter should be on or off by our own choice , complete sentences dissapear if i only ever write “ass” in em or whatever. have to make typos and derpherp on purpose to talk to people.

Bosses are all complete pushovers no exceptions , every action is telegraphed , most of the time they even go completely afk and get hammered while they stand still and reavaluate their poor choices in life. ( dullahan marionette starving galagos blablabla)

Certain mobs are way overtuned and aimbot 100% hitrate highdmg mobs should NOT exist , tehre is no counterplay especially if mdef and property resist do next to nothing :example : wizard lizard in nuoridian temple hits me for 1.5-2.3k at same lvl , 40 lvls later it hits me for 993 now ive much higher mdef but it still does nothing , okay.

Replay value next to zero besides one or tops 2 characters , having to go through the mainstory line is not entertaining , we all do it for the cards nothing else , why force people into having to do quests at all let em whack mobs but give mobs much better rewards and superrare drops whatever so you can justify sleep deprivation in a spot for that “dank item”. sadly there is no such thing as i talked about it earlier - there is no itemization to begin with in weapons bracelets department.
amulets are lackluster and very niche no reason to socket them gems much better.

Jobclasses such as squire alchemist pardoner should be seperate options from your advancements , no1 truly enjoys to have 3 moneymaker skills and 1 dps or CC for 2-3 more advancements or any at all yet they tested it still piss poor excuse my language.

Statsystem is garbage , youve swordsman with 200-300% more hp for no reason compared to other classes so they spend over 50% in mana and hp stats just to be on par in health and sp / sp regen while having much lower dps compared to any swordsman advancement.

MAKE MDEF AND DEF MATTER , right now i could put on a vubbe gauntlet at 200 and still not miss a single hit with 80 less accuracy.
or put on a rokonas leatherchest with poor physdef cause hey , mobs either tickle or chunk you for 25% per hit(goblin chargers lepusbunnies etc).

Dungeonlockouts make no sense either later into the game 2/2 for 99% talt or a card.
and later on you find out actually nothign drops in that dungeon besides cosmetics ?
WHY

Awakening shouldnt destroy potential , i cant think of a single person on release wanting to awaken a weapon that they´re going to keep till next patch / expansion lvl raise when they lose 3 pot - 1 for trading it to the alch ( why even) 1 for doing the awakening (okay) and 1 for trading it back! thats 3 fails of enhancing , which matters a lot with no way to restore it for a minimal dmg raise / or shitty awakening.

next to no reason to party besides hotspots with overcrowded fast respawns (demonprison)
youve to share loot (roundrobin) your silver gets split , your xp is shared partially and you will still have to look for mobs because DENSITY is a HUGE ISSUE.

i think i´ve mentioned everything that is wrong with this game right now , most people go for fulldmg and only put points into con because they NEED IT since sh1tty base hp gains and mobs hitting like trucks (which you only farm once to do a quest and never again because even overleveld they will still destroy your very soul down to its essence).

Solutions : More items , meaningful items aimed at CLASSES not just “herpderp it has moar demeg”
more density
more areas
more grindinghotspots
more channels
meaningful stat distribution with up and downs.
give sprint to everyone not just swordsman (why even).
remove jobclasses from regular advancements and have em as optional advancements at some point one time only with no switcheridoo inbetween.
bigger maps , more mobs , more areas god REPLAY VALUE.

here is whats going to happen on OBT . people get to cap lvl if the game as it is stays right now up to release OBT - play a week and quit coldturkey because there is no replay value , nothing to grind for and gear besides bracelets weapon are basically useless unless theyve DMG on them.

your game is broken and imbalanced in so many departments yet the gameplay is satisfying.
dont bank on people sticking around just cause its smooth (which is not fieldbosses 10-30fps and even 5man party lags on nintendo DS graphics).

there are 2 possibilities.
ONE you listen and severely improve all the negative parts not just from my pov but the overall community
TWO you dont and the game is just another generic korean MMORPG that you play once to maxlvl for a few days and uninstall.

I hate to agree with you… if the OBT is somehow similar like this… i think the replay value is = 0…
I hate it when the boredom is getting higher… the taste when i played RO is never here anymore…
I’m sorry i mentioned RO… but i just speak how i feel… It’s not that i want this game to be RO… i hope this game can even overcome RO to give me that awesome feeling… but feels like this game still lacks a bit…

About the stats…coudn´t agree more with that. Trying to experiment with a Monk, and its basically + STR and +DEX… tried to combo SPR with Zalcial and it seems that its way better to just put more points in DEX…
Yep,some monsters are stronger for no reason. They have more hp and damage than the monsters in the same area and will hit you like a truck. MDEF and DEF seems to be not that useful - the only thing that is meaningful to Damage you receive its lvl - even if you keep the same gear, low lvl mobs will hit you for 1 and +20 lvls ones will give you nightmares.
I think the games Engine needs more tweaking. Formulas need to be more complex (specially Critical Chance/Critical Damage). And when there is a lot of mobs/spells/map effects,the framerate just dies.
ToS is enjoyable and has potential. But first some basic stuff must be corrected. Then again, the International Version is not as updated as the Korean so, who knows?

I want to see ppl who gte cap lvl in 1 week. OBT probaly wont have the same rates and even with these rates ppl struggle to lvl.

yes lots and tons of potential , i dont hate it i´d be sad if it failed because it has that oldsql feeling and all the possibilities to make it a great game but right now its rather generic , bland and the honeymoon is over post 80 after that its just the same grind for next to no rewards and powerful gear doesn´t make you feel powerful at all - i didn´t even mention enhancing - tons of silvercosts (thats fine you make a lot if you put in time) but you´ve only a limited try-span of 9-13 pot per item for every fail and given how rare drops are barely anyone goes post 8-9+ (if they even make it that far on 170 items).

now my post is by no means hateful , it´s just the sad truth.
wishful thinking is somehow post 200 everything is different and classes start to shine and be different from eachother , items for every class and subclass tailored to them 2-3 per class at the same tier , lots of zones and high density even challenges of mobwaves whatever.
no1 is 13 anymore tbh to play 10 hours for 1 item that gives +5statpoints …

@ neconis what does lvlcap have to do with anything that was mentioned btw ? itemization still an issue , stat distribution an issue , swordsman having 200-300%more hp without any con spent and sprint an issue , lack of replay value an issue etc.
alsogetting o max lvl without gear or attributes enhanced means j4cksh1t.

Im not a fan of change this and that you know because we dont know enough about this game. We saw maybe 1/3 of the game. And you hear all time this op and this is shitt but hell i think imc knows better than we do. Let them deliver first than you can say this is not good because …

Itemization is even worse for wizard classes. There is Wizard Bracelet at level 170. The other items doens’t even matter. The stats they give compared to fighter items are a joke.

My biggest issue with the game is that there is no alternatives for leveling. Every 3-4 levels there is ONE map. I don’t really want to compare it to Ragnarok but I think I have to. There were tons of maps for each level range and class type. And the maps were huge and full of monsters. You had so many possibilities where you could go. If you got bored from one place you could go to 3 or 4 others. In ToS you can’t do that. You are forced to one map. And if that map has terrible density and you are out of quests you’re screwed. You have to go back to a better map and get punished by the exp penalty. And if you are not ahead of all people the place will be crowded or in the worst case full and you can’t even enter. Sure in theory there are channels to kind of give you more maps, but it’s not the same as real variety and in most cases there are no other channels at all.

And as you already mentioned grinding doesn’t feel rewarding at all. Exp for killing monsters is terrible compared to doing a quest with the exception of Dungeons and some gindspots like Tenet Chapel, Mausoleum and Demon Prison. Going through the maps was really smooth for me in the beginning. Went from map to map, did all the quests, little grind here and there and it was fun. Then I got to ~124 and nothing. No dungeon, no quests, no enjoyable grindspot like the ones mentioned before. Then they doubles the rates and I though “ok just push through”. 126-127 took me around 2 hours at 6x rates in Starving Demons Way and Mage Tower 5 and those places are somewhat decent to grind. Might be because of my build and class (Wizard 3 - Elementalist at that point) but that’s still scary. That would be 12 hours for one level at 1x rates. That’s scary considering level 120ish is still very early in the game.
Grinding and questing needs some serious balancing.

who the f thought it is a good idea to put that item on 0.01% drop rate (maybe even less) and require it for crappy collection for +1 str +1 int? I’ve got Tanu gem, several orbs, countless times got overweight from loot and have yet to see the flower… Swelling shiny mobs doesnt help either - it doubles drop, not the chance.

Well that’s one thing you can do when you’ve done everything else. It’s a small bonus you can get. That’s totally fine imo. It’s a collection and some things in a collection are rare and hard to get.

So true. The recipe’s materials should be something that can be farmed around the level of the item. It’s just heartbreaking to farm for hours and yet get no exp from it. :cry:

I totally agree! :slight_smile: The exp rates in CBT are greater than normal which makes it easy to level up, but just imagine if this was the release already. The maps would be so crowded with people who needed to grind and KS would be rampant.

Plus it’s too boring to grind in one map. I hope we have more than one map per level range. And if it’s not possible (which looks like it), just spawn random warp portals in the maps were people could get in secret dungeons and kill different monsters or something. :yum:

I disagree on the material part tho. You either grind for exp or you grind for items. It’s totally fine. If you get experience out of it awesome! But this shouldn’t be a given.

People never make their minds up lmao. People say:" give us reasons to revisit old maps/different maps like ro did to hunt cards". They do that for recipes and now you’ve pple saying “why you do this omg i cant level up”

The real game start after rank 5 though (Legwyn), from that onward you have much more option to do.

Though I don’t really like this aspect of game where you actually have to grind to rank 5 to start experiencing a real MMO.

What more options? There is the dungeon for level 130 and still only one map every few levels. It’s just that the dungeon helps you to get levels much faster.

Mainly the event to earn money, boss rushing, dungeon, selecting your equipment, and more grinding. It’s still grinding but you actually have more things to do. The interaction between players increase tremendously too.

Though, everything falls off after you left demon prison at 175, it became a solo game again.

Well that’s true. After 130 the game is really fun to play. The grind before that was horrible.

Aside from the bad manners and typing i agree with you in everything, also nintendo DS graphics made my best laugh of the day, thanks.

all of the classes have a distinct style of play. The one universal is the grind. Some classes are so enjoyable that the grind doesnt feel so bad. Some people are turned off from the grind by their class and play style. for them its boring

you should also mention how your basically forced to do a crit build later on with melee, since dex is such an op stat for tanking your self up lol,

that dodge packed in with crit makes it way too good for melee classes not to take, i really wanted to play a full str, roid rage based attacker, but nah, you have to go critlord so you can dodge the insane damage from the elite mobs later or go for con and gimp your damage :confused:

but still, nothing counters magic damage, equip cloth armor, and your ass still gets handed to you by unavoidable homing missiles from half a screen away…
