My feedback about iCBT2

Hey, after reading so many feedbacks on this forum I decided to put my own 5 cents.

First, the things I like in the game and I think those should be unchanged or just improved a little bit.

  1. The infamous “linearity” of this game. Yeah, you heard it right. There is nothing wrong to the game to be linear, cuz every mmorpg is linear in some way. In Ragnarok I just grinded on the same locations with every charater (sometimes other locations, depending on your class) untill cap. I see quests just as another form of grinding to the higher level, but way more interesting and rewarding. Let’s say they remove quests and make it like oldschool RO (cuz Renewal RO had the same quests if you didn’t know). Then the game will be “not linear” on a first couple of weeks, then people will find optimal leveling routes and locations and everyone will just grind on same locations, do you want that? I don’t.
There are also tons of hidden quests and funny quests, the only thing - at the beginning of the game (first ~30 levels) the quests are super boring, but then there are more fun quests. Maybe IMC should add more interesting quests to the beginning of the game.

  2. Class system overall. It’s amazing and I’ve never seen something like that, you have tons of ways of building your character. I also like how they kept RO classics such as “city classes” (here it’s squire, pardoner and alchemist) but cuz of class system even those can still fight, unlike city WS or creo from Ragnarok. There are also a lot of fresh and cools skills and synergies, I really like that.

  3. The dungeon system. I like the idea of making dungeons harder than grind on locations but not super hard, so you can just make party with people you don’t know and go for it. Dungeons also gives tons of exp so this is another fun form of grinding for level. And also you have a small chance to get really cool items (yesterday I got Arde Dagger, it was sweet)

Now, about the things that I think should and can be changed

  1. Class balance. It’s horrible and it basically destroys the wonderfull class system, because so many useless or underpowered branch. Why do you even need other classes in your party when you can take 4 higlander/barbarian and 1 priest and do an easy walk in a dungeon.

Wixard and Archer - those are mostly gimped, I think archer is the weakest, because wizard branch has linker which is super useful for any party. Cleric branch I consider fine and swordsman branch is too overpowered. Oh, and of course I’m talking about dps swordsman classes, not about tanky ones. Not sure about 130+ but I’m on 106 and you never need tank for dungeon, you can just with 1-2 healers and 3-4 dps. So the thing you really need to do is buff wizard/archer classes for swordsman clases level or nerf swordsman branch.

The mostly obvious thing to balance those classes is solving mana and cooldown problems. The mana problem in this game is really big even for swordman, and there are no even classes that can recover sp (well there’s dievdirby with reducing-sp costs statue but that’s not it). Maybe you can reduce mana potions cooldown and work on spells cooldowns overall. I’m playing psychokino and I can do good dps once in 30 seconds for my whole mana bar while barbarian can do the same dps for whole those 30 seconds and will save some mana, this is not nice.

  1. Stat balance and system. The second thing I find really bad designed in this game is stat balance and formulas. The thing is - every melee class can build dex and a little str and go for a crit build. I find this game desing kinda ridiculous and basically there are no much freedom in stat builds, I’m pretty sure optimal stat builds will be found in a month and all people will go for same stat patterns. Str is too weak stat, compared to dex, spr can solve mana problem a little bit but it’s not panacea and most of classes doesn’t have room for it.

  2. The “exp gaps”. I find this as another game desing failure when people need to wtite specific guides about saving your exp cards or meeting an exp wall without way for leveling, while exp cards are supposed to be eaten immediatly. I mean, just do more good grinding spots on high levels or make more quests, because the infamous “exp walls” are just hillarious and they ruins the whole game experience.

That’s all for now, maybe I will add something else later!
