Alright, I’ve been reading around the forums about the problems with boss fights, and I just wanted to share my thoughts.
First of all, I’ve tried out the following jobs: Barbarian lv95 (mix of str and dex), Pyromancer lv50 (full int), Archer lv50 (full dex), Cryomancer lv 70 (mix of int and spr)
The biggest problem I see with the bosses right now is that the fights are too slow paced.
I don’t mind a long fight with a boss having a huge HP pool, that’s not the issue.
The problem is that the bosses lack move sets, they are slow, the skills are slow, and the “traps” they use can be completely ignored. The fight is “slow” because you do not really have to dodge what they throw at you, since it’s too easy to deal with and there really isn’t anything more to do than use your cooldowns and smash it disregarding pretty much everything else.
I add, about the people saying that a boss fight takes too long, it only depends on the skill and class choice you’ve made. From my point of view, pyromancers melt bosses like they are nothing, swordsman can crush them in a blink, cryomancers don’t have it too rough, and a properly geared and skilled archer takes little to no time to end them. Did not try out priests, so I can’t say about them.
I’m yet to find a boss along the story that takes effort to beat, sadly. Anyway, it makes sense, you can’t have hard fights along the questline if you can build a job full support or without damage oriented spells, because those builds would have no chance to solo the story if it is indeed meant to be done alone by all jobs.
But, there’s still that, being the kind of game it is, if the boss really was too hard for a support role, you can always go to grind for a while, then come back and overkill the boss with better gear. It’s not like the grinding would make you advance slower, since the exp you gain will really help you, it would only make you advance the quest content slower. Being a full support role should be welcomed by grinding groups as long as it makes the whole group farm quicker and steady,
My wish and hope is that, after getting through the grindwall, reaching actual “endgame” once the game is out, the fights are HARD, as in, you require perfect coordination between “support”, “dps”, and “tank” roles to achieve victory over bosse’s mechanics and patterns because they are so fast paced that you can’t deal with them alone.
