šŸ„ Archer builds/ Skill synergies / Mechanics etc Megathread! šŸ„

you donā€™t really have strong aoe damage ( oblique shot hits 3 enemies max and seldom does, while costing a lot of sp, caltrops do very little as well, i had trouble with c2 archer into hunter.
Being bulkier is fine, but sustain is not that great in this game, at least for archer it isnā€™t even with hich critical chance and damage, the auto attack is just too slow

you could utilize multishot with caltrops, since you can pull enemies on 1 spot, might be the best grinding method aside from grouping

Hi fellow Archers! Iā€™m currently archer circle2 and going rogue for pvp. I used to play sniper & rogue/stalker in RO so I figure this build would make me feel at right at home. I would appreciate some feedback on it. http://www.tosbase.com/tools/skill-simulator/build/7pocdgmxyp/

Questions:
How does Lachrymotor(Does it blind the surrounding just like in sword of mana etcā€¦?), Feint and Sneakhit(Does the buff works with backstab and all melee attacks?) works in pvp.

Actually you might actually try it, I levelled up my pet a bit and I donā€™t know man, itā€™s just like a different type of gameplay then archer where you had to be constantly on your toes, you just autoattack and use rush dog every so often and well, the pet does a fckton of damage honestly.

Sure AoE kills him more or less, and the meat is supposed to heal him to full hp but once thatā€™s ironed out and AI will be more responsive I think hunter will be very strong.

I actually am enjoying myself now that my pet is levelled up a bit.

@Rhagius Give hunter a try, it actually grew on me.

@lajkonikes Trying to build an AOE fletcher. Is it worth getting Ranger to third tier for bounce shot and spiral? My plan is Archer - Ranger - Ranger - Ranger - Fletcher - Fletcher

This is where Iā€™m currently at

I didnā€™t get multishot because I assumed spiral could replace it, but so far Iā€™m having to use barrage at point blank for any decent single target damage. Starting to regret getting full draw as it doesnā€™t seem very helpful. I liked the bonuses for archer c2, but even if full draw is instant does it help that much? And I get a swift step crit bonus from archer C1 anyways. (Though Iā€™m not using this that often either)

Suggestions? Iā€™m looking to be mobile with some aoe variety with a lil single target for bosses.
ORiginal idea was to go archer - archer - sapper - sapper then to fletcher, but I figured it may be a waste to try to mob to level with traps when areas are so populated/groups burn baddies fast.

Right now aoe dmg is great with barrage and oblique, but I burn sp fast and single target damage is pretty much not there.

what do you think about this build?

I like the idea of hunter + rogue, but I like to keep the scout utility. I intend to use this build for both pve and pvp. One thing Iā€™m unsure of is whether or not to take vendetta. Thanks!

might work out, dunno if the pet goes invisible though

You dont get crit bonus from c1 anymore.

And well full draw is important for an archer if youre only an archer and you for example go to the dungeon at lvl 50. You link mobs together, they share damage - helps a lot.

I didnt make a ranger yet so dont want to comment on those skills, but dont use barrage as single target damage unless you mean on bosses. Neither barrage nor anchoring is to be used that way if you want to stay efficient and not chug SP pots like a madman.

You will wish you went sapper when you get to chapel and do it solo hahaha ^^ that place without a group is terrifying. There are rooms where theres easily 60+ mobs. Not big rooms either, good grinding place if you got the aoe dmg but dont fret ranger will provide that too.

Only way to be truly mobile right now as an archer is SR but I didnt see the need for it yet.

Too many levels in oblique and you have to mob more to make use of the aoe properly. Save up exp cards for the times you need SP / HP badly. Then chug couple of them and poof level. Also dont be afraid of chugging pots, I do that.

Vendetta seems to be more for party play and even then useless to mages. They need to extend the buff duration imo.

I think pet damage will fall too far behind if you get only one rank. His autoattacks are to some extent normal hits and to some extent rush dogs. So depending how high rushdog is, it will deal more damage by itself.

Hunter complements some builds well but as Rhagius stated if pet doesnt go invisible its not great. If you want to keep invisibility go either archer archer archer or archer ranger ranger, depending on what you need. Archer is ok but remember that you dont really have viable aoe. Multishot to some extent but its aoe is very small, and the ever attacking the wrong mob oblique haha ^^

Id say keep swift on 7 and get full draw to 10.

And what about this one? Or it is better to not mix sapper with fletcher?

It doesnā€™t look that bad on paperā€¦ I wonder, though, If traps can crit. If the canā€™t then I shallnā€™t go this route =_=

@lajkonikes I heard that pet AI is now better & more responsive than it was before. But I can only comment once I try it later haha I recommend you to take C2 of Hunter (if you want the Retrieve) at rank 6 because Hunter truly wonā€™t help you leveling. I also hope that pet food is only a bug.

Actually Iā€™m thinking about going hunter c2 on rank 4, his autoattack damage scales with rush dog - the automatic rushdog you mentioned. It actually works awesome and the pet helps me levelling quite a bit. Weā€™re doing the chapel dungeon now and its bringing a lot of damage to the table!

By looking at how underwhelming archer is in terms of damage output in general, I really hope the companion makes up for it. I was doing around 2 to 100 damage on a lv30 boss while my friend , as a warrior, was hitting for 1k lel.

you will be crafting a lot, since both sapper and fletcher both need special items they can only craft themselves, but other than that there is nothing that immediately comes to mind.

you may want to substitute 5 Swift Step for 5 full draw, or kneeling shot, i need to try it out myself, but from the level areas i have seen so far there doesnā€™t seem to be a safe way to use kneeling shot without one/two-shotting enemies with it

@lajkonikes i tried leveling my hunter with my petlevel around level 35; without rushdog ( which costs about the same as oblique for me) it is still struggling to be really helpful. i catch myself autoattacking stuff that aggro the pet or oblique spamming like before and when i do that the pet is hardly participating again^^ i feel like the pet needs the runspeed boost the attribute provides upfront to work as intended.

Only thing i really enjoy compared to other classes is Killing bosses on archer 2 and farming enemies that die in 1-2 shots. higher attackspeed than swordman classes or atleast the same would be a fair step for archer balancing, since we donā€™t get any additional damage on enemies and are only able to hit single targets, whereas i can simply switch weapons with any swordman class and do more damage with autoattacks while still being able to spam skills on bosses :expressionless:

It was a time-saver in Tenet Garden. Kneeling shot, I mean. Was feeling like a turret, lol.
Iā€™m not afraid of craftingā€¦ besides, basic attacks doesnā€™t even consume any arrows, soā€¦ meh. Thinking back 'bout being an archer/hunter/bard/dancer/their advances/and 3rd profs this is really easy and cash friendly
Iā€™m not so sure about going Sapper because I donā€™t know if traps can cirtā€¦ Iā€™ve 45 dex right now and 22 str + few points in Con and Sprā€¦ If they donā€™t cirtā€¦ Dex would be almost useless 'till Fletcher. Also, Iā€™m still soloing and bossess are dying within 2-3 mins. And even those 2-3 mins are caused by cooldown.

they can crit, only magic attacks canā€™t as far as i know

sr but how to craft the trap especially, claymore! It costs too much, 300silver/1 :(( Iā€™m really depressed when up sapper and no money to buy trap :-<

yeah the amount of moneysinks is just too real on some classes.

an update on the hunter front, after i got past the tenet chapel f2 bosses i could put rush dog onto the pet - THIS IS PRIORITY 1 for every hunter imo!- i made the big mistake to level praise before unlocking rush dog, thinking the pets auto attack being stronger would be useful, this is not the case, rush dog unlocks a weaker version, that your pets uses automatically from time to time, rush dog hits all enemies around the target you hit, so it basically becomes your first useful aoe skill, while being a heavy hitting ability and more sp efficient on lower skill levels.

tldr: get rush dog and level pet up as fast as possible when transitioning into hunter

So you mean no ways to craft the trap? :expressionless: It means just spend money for these trap? :(( so terrible, my money pool is always below 10k silver! :(((

Lol, yeah. Guess I was too focused on build, that I didnā€™t even check if traps are actually craftableā€¦ So far, didnā€™t find any way to craft them, so I guess they are not. 300 silvers/claymore kinda harshā€¦ Especially when you just sunk all your money into enhancing. Like, almost all of them xD Good thing Iā€™ve decided to buy some pots before job-changing.

Seriously, 300 silver is waaaaaay too much for a claymore. The set up nature of traps already justify any downside needed to ā€œbalanceā€ the damage/effects. In addiction, they are targetable and can be knocked back, messin your set up. In pvp, anyone with half a brain will avoid them 50% of the time.

Thats even more problematic in low levels, with low silver income. I think itā€™s cool to have to use a reagent, it gives identity to the class and etc, but donā€™t balance it with the price in mind for Laima sake.
