Multi clienting

I’ve tried finding some info about this but seemed a similar topic about this I found on google was deleted.

Is multi clienting/boxing allowed? I’ve seen a few new start up RO private servers at the beginning of this year and for all of them multi clienting is a pest. (I know I’m comparing with RO and this is not RO blabla but lets face it, there’s a shitload of RO people around here) mutli clients however do partly die later on in the game where good team work is more necessary.

I don’t really recall many other MMO’s having issues with that because how many MMO’s really have unique pure support classes? I really hope there’ll be some strict rules about these to avoid people partying with themselves.

Edit: I’m against multiclienting myself, just trying to get some attention to this before it would become a problem.

why would multi boxing even be legal.

its the same premise as glitching, RMT and botting.

It’s legal in every private RO server, when I played official RO there was still a monthly fee so it was no problem there. (Though it’s capped most of the times at 3~5 clients either by rules or unable to login more then 3 which then again is circumvented with multi boxing).

The only other game I know which has this “issue” would be EVE online. They even have tools to copy the movements of the main client.

So no I don’t really see it as ‘Duh it’s not allowed!’ but I’m hoping it will be illegal.

Even though it is mentionned in Privacy Policy, I haven’t found any EULA, and I don’t remember agreeing on something related to this.

So, I would say you are allowed to multiclient and even cheat if possible during the CBT.

By the way, the current CBT client hasn’t been designed to be launched multiple times, so it shouldn’t be possible for “normal” people. However, there’s no game protection against MC in the last clients, so it is easily bypassable if IMC do nothing about that.

Anyway, I agree it shouldn’t be allowed. I don’t like that.

“It’s legal in every private RO server” If we think about the fact that “private” RO Servers are not legal themself, this is a pretty funny sentence.

the SSO Login System from Nexon forbids Multi Login.
i guess imcGames will do the same for steam, and I appreciate it.

Multi accounting, destroyed a strong market on Ragnarok in the early 2005s.

i would be happy if it will be not possible.

I agree. Additionally, it sounds like the OP doesnt realize that Private Servers are somewhat looked down upon.

I dont think that Multiboxing should be allowed either. It takes away from the social aspect and an MMORPG should push the social parts. Its what makes MMOs what they are. Social, intractable worlds.

Coming from a MMO (EVE) where multiboxing is both allowed and prevalent, I can say with certainty: it’s only fun if you’re on the multiboxing end.

Problem with allowing multiboxing is it creates a metaphorical “arms race” where those who don’t multibox either are being left in the dust in terms of farming / content clearing ability, or at the very least feel like they are, which is nearly as bad.

People will justify it by saying that as long as key-presses aren’t being sent to multiple clients at once and there’s no automation involved, then it’s fine… but I personally disagree. It’s better to just keep it as one client to one person. It’s a whole Pandora’s box of rules and conditions that I doubt IMCgames wants to open.

EDIT: Forgot to add, CCP (EVE’s developer) stands to gain from multi-boxing since each client connection is paid for by a separate subscription fee. However, ToS is a free-to-play game so one person running multiple accounts (debatably) doesn’t have the same purchasing potential as two people playing two separate accounts. Ergo, it’s not in their interests to support or allow multiboxing.

CCP has cracked down on the use of applications like ISBox that replicated actions across multiple EVE clients. They have not outlawed use of multiple clients, but it’s now a lot harder for those crazies that wanted to handle 20 clients simultaneously.

I understand private servers aren’t the best example but with RO sadly enough I can’t say much good about the original. They lost my acc which I paid for on a monthly basis when they merged their servers and the HUGE amounts of bots which they hardly put any effort in removing them (in the end I abused bots myself just to see what is done about it, never got a single bot banned of the 5 bots running 24/7).

Compared to private servers there are quite some which did/still are doing better then the original. But yes usually private servers are worse and have a lot of abuse/power trip issues from the GM’s.

I thought you could pay for the software of gravity which made it legal. Not sure if this is done I’ve just been told that’s the legal way of running a private server.

I think abusing it just because others are, just contributes to the irresponsibility in the environment.

And private servers arnt bought, you own the right to publish them. ANd gravity makes money from servers that are iRO, kRO, jRO, etc. As well the publishers make money by hosting them.

there is no way except buying an Aegis License. Everyone who says something else, lies because they want to give you the impression of playing on a legal server.

I hope they don’t allow it, multi boxing and centurion would be cheap and free lvling.

NOPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE !
Multi-clienting is the open-door for easy boting and the shitiest things you can see in actual MMO.
I strongly disagree with this.

In a game where Centurion exists, definitely a no.

I would expect it to be not allowed. It looks like Tree of Savior is focused on parties and helping others with systems that show other players around you, doing the same thing your doing, available for partying with you.

The reasons that people used multi clienting in ragnarok was to up level of a character that isnt good fighting, change itens from one account to another and buffs. I think that there will be less need to it in tos. ( ・ิω・ิ)

Well from the few vids I’ve seen the spawn rates were quite high and always at the exact same location so you could for example use a dievdirbys to carve a statue at that spot to reduce your sp cost and spawn kill the mobs with ur skills. Or like other people suggest use that centurion for whichever reasons they want.

There will most likely be some classes that people don’t like to get/play. When that happens people will use it as an alt pretty easily depending how activly you’ll need to use that alt.

Well I just hope there’ll be a zero tolerance towards mutli clients :>
