Mouse Control Issues & Proposed changes (All Class Feasibility)

I love using mouse control. It is the most comfortable way to play games for me however I’ve come into several limitations regarding the current setup and would appreciate if you consider my proposal to offer and implement an alternate mouse control option.

Issues:
-I hate they way my target changes every time I mouse over something or something moves under my cursor. I can never reliably hit the monster that I desire to hit.

-I’ve also come into some annoyances when attempting to do quests which involve interacting and not attacking (via left click) with most things in game, specifically interacting with mobs for quests.

Proposed changes(fixes):
-Enable a mouse targeting mode. Essentially left click will target the mob and lock the target, as opposed to on mouse over. Implement an attack keysetting for mouse that allows player to keybind their attack to alternate buttons(i.e. mouse button 4 to swing/shoot)
This will help to focus attacks to the players intended target.

-You’ve disabled Select/Skip keysetting option for mouse users (Keysettings\Catagory:Keyboard\combat\select/skip). Please re-implement the keysetting for mouse users. Some quests that require me interact with mobs instead of attack them are currently impossible to do under current mouse settings and I find that I have to to switch to keyboard to complete them.
If user is allowed to utilize the “Select/Skip” feature it will allow them to remain in their preferred play style.

-Implement an option that allows you to disable or rebind left click to move. This is a continued issue regarding the left click on your mouse having too many controls. For instance if I left click a monster on an archer class you will slowly walk towards them while attacking, which is not typically the action you wish to make.

In summation your development and testing team already knows the limitations regarding current in-game mouse controls. It’s evident by the message that appears when switching to mouse control on a melee character.
"Mouse Mode may not be feasible for Swordsman, Cleric type classes"
If you implement the above changes I’ve proposed you will find that it will remove current limitations and certainly feasible for all classes.

Thank you for your time

Regards,
Loyal Player and Fan.

P.S. I loved Ragnarok Online since the early 2000’s and continue to enjoy the game and it’s style. I would love to see this game thrive and it’s community grow.

Ah, Thank you so much. I definitely could use the interact keyboard button during mouse mode. I’ve already implemented the binding of attack to my mouse using a mouse program I already have.

Do you know of a way to
-Disable targeting on cursor mouse over
-Target lock on left click using mouse
-Disable left click to move

You are very knowledgeable. Thank you for sharing.
I still would love to see these implemented in game as well.

20 words limit…

+1. Sadly, the interact key that keyboard has a.k.a. “space” can’t be implemented in the mouse mode atm. It’s simply not in the mouse hotkey notepad file and I’ve tried putting the interact script from keyboard mode notepad to mouse hotkey notepad and it didn’t work simply because the option wasn’t there to begin with. Your issue #1 might work with a third party program, but I haven’t messed around with it since it doesn’t bother me atm. I think one solution to that is unique game option for that implemented.

It does work but with some limitations compared to keyboard mode - you still have to highlight target with mouse. So you still might have to change to keyboard mode to advance some quests but it is very convenient to have separate interaction key on keyboard when you interact with some npcs/monsters.

This really needs some attention, specially because some classes have a really hard time playing with keyboard (mostly ranged classes).

You see… that’s the problem that we’re discussing. It’s very annoying to change to keyboard mode on some quests.

What ruins this game for me is not a mouse issue alone, I could live with that.

But when you sum up all the “smaller” bugs/issues like having to change from mouse to keyboard to take a quest, having to change back to mouse to be able to use ranged skills from a range, having to wait 40 mins in dungeon queue because queue keeps resetting, getting graphical lags in town because of spammers, etc… Then the game starts geting really frustrating.

I support this post /20charcharcharot

Couldn’t they just allow us to assign a random key on the keyboard to interact with mobs? I find this to be very annoying when I have to change from mouse to keyboard mode and back for a quest, and hope that I don’t die in the few moments it takes me to change back.
