Monster Gems is not a functional system

I am level 171 now and I haven’t seen a Monster Gem drop. At this rate with them additionally being untradeable you might aswell take them out of the game. Nobody can realistically farm them and plan their equipment around it, nor could you give your lucky drop in exchange for another.

This leads to a cool looking system to be hindered. If you implement something, develop the code for something and 99.9% of your population cannot access it - what is the point?

If you took out all monster gems tomorrow hardly anyone would even notice. Let them be a bit rarer, that is fine, but put them into reachable realm. It doesn’t matter to me if it is via trade, fine-tuning the droprate so you can personally farm them instead.

Yeah… Imagine Ragnarok with untradeable cards >_<

Though, lvl 171 and not 1 monster gem? I’d say you z-botted your way up there. I’m 49 and have 2 already. On iCBT drop rates were same… I got 3 in 100 lvls then.

My archer friend didn’t see one, same level and my 151 mate also didn’t get one. Just because you got lucky doesn’t make other z-botters.

No offence. I was making fun of how unlucky you are, that all.

I was able to get a pawndel gem however it has no description on what it actually does.

So very confused do you get these when the monsters are in dungeons or can you get them outside of it ?

i found my first one ever at lv141 in Main Cathedral, from the starfish mobs, and was honestly a bit sad because i wasnt a fletcher and thus had no use for it, instead i mulched it to upgrade an attack gem and all was right. i’ve no issue with them being a super rare drop from mobs, don’t see anyone complaining about arde daggers 5% appearance rate from the cube. why? Cuz you can buy em. Monster gems seem to be similar in that if you put it(With the skill unlocked and leveled) into a piece of equipment, and then sell said piece of equipment + the monster gem you are now making money off both the equip and the gem. and the gem is suddenly on the market. and contrary to popular believe, the gem will only break if you remove it when it had no levels at all invested into it. and considering how strong some skills can get from monster gems? I would certainly like to see them kept rare. theres a reason +x to Y class skills are very rare and sought after abilities on weapons, like the Ice Rod for cryomancer, the Grand Cross for Quarrel Shooter, and Lolopanther Musket for musketeer. now can you imagine a Lolo Musket with a maxed out Snipe gem? thats not something we want EVERYONE to have lol.

All I can tell you is I still didn’t find one. Closing in on level 200. Would love to know how they work etc. I knew you can sell them via slotting them, but not if skill can go from +1 to +2 for example.

I would be gladly to be proven wrong, but you cannot level monster gems. At all. They just break when you try to take them out of equipment (there is proper warning about it too).

AFAIK you need an alchemist to either roast or awaken a gem before you can start leveling a monster gem. idk how different it was in the beta but i always saw people linking monster gems that had their level bar unlocked. so there is definatly a way to do it and alchemist sounds like the most likely.

In beta there was an exp bar on monster gems (but you couldnt level them anyway). As well as info on items they can be socketed into and affected skill. Now all that info is gone (probably a bug). But in beta you could safely remove them from items, now you cant.

^^ I’m 150+.

Not a single monster gem drop~
And i’m on 40k mobs killed.

Never went afk.

So yeah. Luck based ^^.
Drop rate is 0,05%.

0.01% would be closer to truth (0.02% if they use same RNG as in Ragnarok).

then to that i say its another case of wait and see. its possible they want to link Monster gems to another class, or it could just outright be bugged. if it didn’t work in beta either then its heavily possible the feature isn’t 100% Implemented yet. so until they can be fully utilized its probably best to keep them in the bank or use them for leveling your non monster gems.

Im more concern why there is no description on monster gem. Yeah, making it tradable is good also, for both buyer and seller

Funny thing is.

In icbt… i dropped 7 … before level 100.

They must have downed that droprate too xD… or my luck got worse.

Not a single good dungeon drop in 20 runs…

Talt is a good drop imo!

Only some mobs drop gems so you have to kill the correct monsters to get gems. I took an evening when quests were messed up and got 3 different monster gems from low level monsters. I also managed to get a varve one when I was questing which was cool. The low level ones are easy to get but most people don’t spend much time killing those monsters.

I didn’t see a single Monster gem either with 30k killed mobs >,>

But even if one was dropped, unless its one I can actually use for a skill for my class, its utterly useless. Using a 0,0x drop to lvl gems? Please not!

The monstergem system is interesting but useless in the current state. In the cbt you could at least extract one from a weapon and sell it that way to someone who could actually use it.

And yes, its exactly like making RO cards just untradable.

edit: I forgot the ritual:

And hereby I shall summon thee, the salamion!
@STAFF_Ethan !!! @Staff_Julie !!!
The monstergemsystem right now is unacceptable! Feel free to place that on your To-Do list after getting the major problems done, thanks~

Monster Gem drop-rates have been greatly reduced since iCBT. I’ll let the dev team know about this, but it doesn’t appear to be bugged at the moment.
