[Mini-guide] Leveling as Cleric2->Diev2

Edit:
This thread was originally a couple of tips for leveling as a dievdirby2. Expanded it so the thread provides more information to players who are going into the Cleric2->Dievdirby2 route.

There are many excellent guides which feature builds that cover all the way to Class7. This guide however, covers the ‘middle’ portion, and seeks to help fellow clerics who are in the INT Cleric2->Dievdirby route or players who intend to build a character with a starting build in these 2 classes. Cleric2->Dievdirby is an extremely popular class combination to take, with multiple end game builds featuring this combo. Check out @BlackGhost excellent post make a good plague dps/pvp/support plague doctor.

##Aim of the guide

This guide talks about the strengths and weaknesses of the class4 build, what the build brings to the party and how to utilise the skills available to the build efficiently. It also talks about the core skill essentials, what important skills to take and leave the rest of the skill points up to the player’s own discretion so that they can make a character that is tailored to their liking.

Level range for the guide
Up till lvl125+ (where the player is ready for class5, this is where most Cleric2->Diev2 builds branches out)

##Core essential Skills

Cleric 1 & Cleric 2

  • Heal level 10 (Max)
  • Divine Might lvl 5 (Max)
  • Fade lvl 1
  • Safety Zone 5+
  • Cure 1+

Extra skill points to distribute: 8

Dievdirby 1 & Dievdirby 2

  • Statue of Laima 5
  • Carve Owl 5 (Max)
  • Carve World Tree 5 (Max)
  • Carve 1+

Extra skill points to distribute: 14

Extra skill points is left to your own discretion on where to place them. Some prefer to deal more damage would add more points into cure and carve, others who like more support might consider adding more points Safety Zone, Deprotected Zone or Statue of Zemnya. Do take into consideration on what end game build you would like to be before adding these extra points to the skill.

Core skill breakdown

Heal 10
This is the bread and butter for any cleric and all clerics will max it no matter which circle they are in. As an INT based cleric, the heals give a lot more hp and the damage increase also make it really worthwhile to invest our skill points in. 10 tiles of damage on bosses in the early levels is really nothing to scoff at.

Divine Might 5
This gives a buff which adds +1 level to our next 5 skills. Our heals gain another tile, cure gain 2 more hits and last 1 second longer, safety zone increase in number of blocks etc. The buff is also extended to our party members so they also gain the +1 skill benefit. Overall it is a really great skill to have in both DPS and support builds. Max it.

Fade 1
This is a skill that is often overlooked by a lot of clerics. It removes aggro on the cleric and party members for a measly 20 SP, and it lasts 12 secs or until our next attack. This is the skill which is utilized in many of the leveling and partying tips shown later in the guide. 1 single skill point into this will suffice.

Safety Zone 5+
Some players prefer maxing it, others leave it at level 1. In my opinion, 5 points is good enough when attributed. 5 points gives 10 blocks, when attributed it gives up to 30 blocks in a 20sec period. Aside from mass tanking 5+ mobs, most of the time it will last the entire 20sec duration with just level 5 max attributed safety zone.

Cure 1+
1 point for debuff removal, additional points if want to dps with this skill. As a cleric->diev in early levels we are really lacking in a dps skill sadly.

Statue of Laima 5
One of the best support statue. It gives a 20% cooldown reduction to players within its area of effect and also debuffs enemies within its radius. One thing to note that enemies will be taunted by this statue due to the debuff. Hence it makes it really good as a soft taunt skill which can herd enemies before we aoe them with a heal/cure/owl. 5 points is enough.

Carve Owl 5
The main dps skill for dievdirby. Deals a lot of damage, definitely max it. It is also used to kite and lure bosses, see the party tips for more information.

Carve World Tree 5
Area wide (within its radius) silence to enemies. Doesn’t work on boss mobs though, but it is useful to plant them during fights where the boss summons additional monsters. The statue will usually stop those monsters from harassing wizards while they are casting. Level 5 provides 27 secs of silence which is good enough imo.

Carve 1+
It deals quite a significant amount of damage even without any strength investment. Definitely at least 1 point into it to help in leveling.

Leveling as an INT cleric

It is hard to level as an INT cleric, auto attacks deal very little damage due to not having enough strength. But we do have our strengths that make others envy us. In the early levels up till around 75, heal 10 is our main source of damage for story boss hunting.

Skill point guide to level to Diev2

Cleric 1
-> Heal 5, Cure 1, Safety Zone 5.

Leave 4 points unallocated until class change.

Cleric 2
-> Heal 10, Divine Might 5, Fade 1

This is where the unallocated points from Class1 come in. With 4 points unallocated, the moment we change to Cleric2, throw all the 5 points into Heal. In this way we can level up faster as more heal tiles = more damage. The next 6 points go into divine might and fade. After that is all free allocation.

Dievdirby 1
-> Carve 1+, Laima 5

For dievdirby, we might want to add more points into carve as we don’t have much dps skill choices. Carve doesn’t gain any bonuses from INT but then the damage alone is worth investing points in. Remember to keep at least 4 points unallocated here for Diev2 change.

Dievdirby 2
-> Owl 5, World Tree 5

The 4 unallocated points in diev 1 will go straight into owl 5. This gives us a reliable aoe tool to level up faster. Look at leveling tips section for more information how to use Laima + Owl. Next is dependent on the next class you would like to be, if want to go carve route and diev3, just keep world tree at 1 first leaving 4 unallocated points to throw into owl the moment you hit Diev3.

Leveling Equipment

The most important equipment to get is our blunt weapon, a mace. With the marketplace we can always find cheap maces with good attack/magic power. Do take note of the equipment change level (1, 15, 40, 75, 120), change as soon as you reach the appropiate level. Always try to get the weapon to +5 if possible. It adds a bit of extra damage to our auto attacks.

During our leveling we will get some equipments which add +str, +accuracy or +dmg. Do keep those as they help in either adding to our damage or hit rate. Below are a couple of equipment that is available early in the game

Gloves wise opt for those which adds to accuracy instead of magic attack. As new clerics we auto-attack more than use our skills to damage mobs.

Leveling Tips

Utilizing Statue of Laima & Carve Owl to herd and aoe mobs

For mobs that auto aggro, use Fade first before Laima

General Partying Tips

One thing to note is as a Cleric2->Diev2, our skillset is primarily support and dps comes second. So do heal more first in parties until we switch to a more dps oriented class in class 5,6,7.

Luring & Kitting Bosses as a Cleric/Diev

The above example shows how to kite a boss and “leave” him there so that the player can return back to the party to finish off the other boss. Plant an owl statue near a corner first, have it hit the boss 1 time and cast fade. The boss’s focus will then shift to the statue.

Here is a video of it in action, how to lure the Siauliai boss. The owl-fade tech starts from 6:53 onwards.

I noticed that your 1st Owl disappears after the skill animation is over (1:13-1:16). Is that because you took damage while you were carving? If so, shouldn’t these skills have a channeling bar or some other way to indicate that the skill will not be executed if you take damage before the carving is complete? Carve Owl has too long of a countdown to waste 1/2 of the overheat.

@fewly The staue is only finished once it emites the green aura around the statue. Otherwise it counts as cancelling the carving. It sux but it is what it is.

Only if the aoe was bigger…

The 1st owl is missing not because of the damage. It is most likely due to my latency (around 350-500ms). Sometimes the game will eat up some of my skills when I cast them. A bit of an annoyance but still playable, hope after the server transfer it will be better.

Updated with part 2 of the tip. :3

what’s your build if i can ask? looks like diev2-paladin or something

It is Cleric2->Diev2->Paladin1.

Updated with more information.

Couple things:

  • Carve should be L5. Always. Each level adds 1 hit, so at level 5, it does 5 hits max. It also scales very well with weapons even with no STR. Leveling without Carve 5 will be very very difficult on bosses especially.

  • Warp Statue should be left at 1. It has no battle utility, and there’s an exploit you can use that allows multiple people to warp with L1 Statue anyway. Also, using Divine Might makes it L2, which is enough most of the time.

I would recommend putting points into cure (int based)). It’s one of the the 2 cleric class skills that scale with int and does really good damage.
If your safety wall is at 5, then you’ll have enough points to max cure (if I remember that correctly).

Also, getting your party to lure the bosses near the corners allow your owl to stay in the same place when they’re hit with ground pound AOEs. They’ll hit the wall then bounce back almost to the same spot. It’s even better if your party can get them in front of owls at a corner but have them face away from the owls. That way, Poata’s (or any other boss) with a frontal swipe knockback won’t hit the owls.

Every time the owls are knocked back, they take like ~2 seconds before they start attacking again.

Also, most of the time, you don’t need to bother separating the bosses. You save so much time getting both at once (for missions)

@lancewang1986

Carve at level 1 does multiple hits too, but I do concur that adding points to carve will help tremendously in leveling. That is what the 1+ means, add as many points as you want since there are extra skill points to distribute to make the build yours.

Warp Statue is really bad. During my course of leveling, I added in 1 point just to test it out and hated it. In the end I drank a skill potion just to get back that 1 point so I can add it to another skill for better use.

@BlackGhost
Yes, my current Cure level is 9 (1 for fade). This guide serves more as a guideline since the player can choose different classes in class 5,6,7. What they choose will affect their choice in placing the extra points in cleric and dievdirby.

For example, a player going melee paladin3 or monk3 will not place as much emphasis on cure and would prefer to leave it at 1.

Yeah, a lot more time is saved when both bosses are dps’ed down together. But it also requires a really good team with a good tank who knows their role and positioning. Can’t really expect too much in matchmaking groups, but for the group I usually run with, we usually dps down the boss at corners like what you said.

Owl statue is really lol at times. Besides being susceptible to knockback, it gets affected by statuses too. It can be freezed or put to sleep which is really funny when it does happen.

i have a few questions

i assume ur on a full strength buid(?) bcuz u went paladin.
im going clericc2>dievc2>monkc3 which is strength

i just got to c2 diev and holy ■■■■ it is so good! it 1 shots everything

i just wanted to know does the damage fall off if i go strength/dex? is it still this good late game if i dont put any points into int?

Unfortunately my build is INT based, Paladin is taken due to its usefulness in HP/SP recovery + resistance buffs. Build is INT based Cleric2->Dievdirby2->Paladin1->Dievdirby3->Kabbalist

Owl still does quite a fair bit of damage even with no int invested. The best part of the owl statue is it has no number of monsters restriction, hence it can dps down a lot of monsters at once. It is also resilient to attacks and can help you ‘off tank’ for a bit.

If you are going monk c3 and getting the energy blast, yes it will be good to go str/dex as most of your skills are melee/physical based. Given your build I don’t see placing any points in INT help much since it only affects a few skills like heal, cure and owl.

As much as I would love to help, it will be good to hear from players who played monk c3 as their input will be a lot more credible and insightful. :3
