To be fair, many people in ktos already said this moments after release. The damage output just isn’t nowhere near enough to compete with the other R8s.

I thought it was cause their attribute levels were low but I just dumped 60m and got everything above lvl 50 and still weak as â– â– â– â– .
Mergen is filler aoe, very nice for fletcher low cd + mergen high cd. Arrow sprinkler rain is best vs larger bosses. I believe arrow sprinkle is best mergen skix
I notified everyone about archer r8 and underwhelming classes in the ktos vid thread. However I had to remove it shortly after due to backlash.
Hopefully you will feel stronger after you get a stronger weapon.

So far, my hacka friend is doing more than double the damage my mergen is doing and his cds are lower.

Had an SR friend that cant stop praising limacon on discord lol. Pretty op Im glad he’s enjoying it. Meanwhile im just running around waiting for 30+ secs cooldown.

Thanks to your (and other’s advise), my Mergen is doing fine. The downtime is covered by RS and vice-versa. 
Still no decent 2H Bow for me though.

*This is a 100% non-meta / non-PvP / non-ET-interested / my own happiness only build.
I made an A1-QS3-A2-Fal-Rog-Mergen. The intricacies of the build were already deeply discussed in the thread I made before. It’s very well funded so I’m pretty much dealing 100% crit (got WW cards at Lv10), 2x Sissels, the basics. Very STR heavy due to having both A2 and Rogue (Sneak Hit). Still no 2H bow for Mergen skills at this time. The invested DEX is exactly 70. The rest are carried by Lv6/7 gems, versus a Lv330 monster with 120 crit resist, I would have 100% crit rate (granted all the hoops passed for WW cards + Sneak Hit), basically I aimed for 30% crit rate at all times w/o Sneak Hit. I can actually go over my 100% projected if I bother to have all Lv7 gems or have at least a few at Lv8.
@GyroZeppeli Haven’t spent on attributes on my Mergen yet. My Inquisitor and Taoist are Silver-munchers. I’m dying here.

Arrow Rain is decent burst against large bosses, not good against groups unless a Falconer 3 uses Aiming or they are linked.
Triple Arrow is actually a really strong skill.
Homing is mediocre, but can become very strong with circling/linker.
Spread Shot is so awful that just don’t. Just don’t.
Didn’t skill parthian shaft since It has no damage attribute.
People shouldn’t be expecting full fledged DPS/utility out of a circle 1 archer class.
You guys remember musket/cannon C1 at r7? Those were just some icing on top of the rest of your build and couldn’t really stand on their own until just now that their C2 came out. Mergen is no different, don’t get it expecting the full experience out of one circle.
My suggestion is to have a build that can stand on its own in terms of DPS and then just add Mergen skills on top to improve it. For this, Fletcher 3 is great. Do not build around Mergen itself, or you will be lacking sustained damage just like people who built around musket/cannon for r7.

U guys think mergen would do nice for a wugushi c3? I really liked mergen better than hacka, but i dont want to suffer too much xD
It would, but if it is as bad as it seems you would do better with rogue.
No, that’s two long CD classes. You’ll be spending most of your time jumping around.

Depends a little on the rest of your build, but if you juggle right with your CD’s yes, they do combo. Don’t forget that mergen might receive a 0 CD skill at Mergen 2, so don’t simply drop it by some CD management right now. It’s doable and in some builds it’s very good.

Right now we have 15 class of archer.
As far I know. Only Ranger/Cannoner/SR are good DPS at C1. (3/15)
Fletcher C1/Archer C1/Wugushi C1 just so so.
Scout C1/Falconer C1/Fletcher C1/Rogue C1/QS C1 has good utility skill(Not DPS).
Other then that they have a good skill at C2 or C3.
Archer C2/Sapper C2/Wugushi C2/Rogue C2+/Fletcher C2+/Musketeer C2/Falconer C3/Scout C3/QS C3
No wonder if Mergen/Hakka still underwhelming. They are just C1 anyway.
Don’t try to compare with other Archer C2 class.
Look at swordman how R8C1 can compare to DragoonC2/FancerC3/DoppleC3 ? They also underwhelming as DPS too.

Hi DiMeowgio, my BD is A1-QS3-Rouge1, plan Rouge3 for the Sneak hit Max to increase the Crit, I plan to equip max WW card, the concept of my BD is just enhance the running shot and R8 is Mergen . I found your BD is similar concept about it, any suggestion of my BD? Rouge 3 or change to other BD like you? Thanks:)
Mergen is fkng garbage, and I’m not rerolling again, 1600+ hrs played, you can imagine how many times ive already rerolled…made a new archer specifically for rank 8 mergen with 1 circle of falconer for circling + homing arrow, that combo is OP as fk, outside of that 1 ability though the class is absolutely terrible, so aggravated with it atm.
