Low-rate is perfect!

You got me wrong, I’m not anti-grinding.
I only anti level-grinding, you still can do equipment grinding in other ways with more fun.

By this, the game is fit for various players.
Casual players who only want to enjoy game and doesn’t mind cheap equipment in easy mode, while doesn’t restricted by level in better gaming content.
Hardcore players who emphasize on achievement like difficult mode or high ranking in competitive play - pvp, which they able obtain better equipment.

Level grinding make no different with other cheap-designed game, it only create wrong motivation playing ToS (in fact, long level grinding time will always mislead players from the core concept of the game), it also potential cause social divided (level restriction in dungeon or gvg), encourage more botters, and etc issue.

Level grinding is ok, but not infinity - like consistent 8h per day straight for whole year in order to just max a character is truly wrong design. For my acceptance, 4h per day straight for 3 months to max a character is ok, the extra time just play different character, it make better sense with my time invested in this game.

The rates in the first beta were too low. These current rates might be a little high, but they are honestly fun. Correct me if I’m wrong, but the rates are 3x aren’t they?

As it is right now, 3x still forces the grind between some levels, while still offering plenty of opportunities to stay questing. Even the highest level players haven’t reached 200 yet, and the rest of the players are well below them. Considering xp requirements get extremely high at the higher levels, it seems like 3x will probably be a comfortable late game rate that provides plenty of grinding.

For example, level 286, the last level before the roller coaster curve, requires 19 million xp. Those higher levels before the curves should give people plenty of forced opportunities to grind.

I say they should stick with 3x rates.
If they were to lower it though, they should go no less than 2x (2.5x might be a happy medium for quest/grinding, but that would need to be tested).

I wouldn’t mind a bit lower xp rate in release and having to grind… if I actually could properly grind… it heavily depends on how they deal with afkers in high spawn areas and the amount of channels available in most areas. As it is now there are barely any spots to grind anything at all in any of the areas, maybe 8 mobs every minute or so. Just feels tedious enough as it is without any noticeable amount of additional channels.

Yea but reaching max level in a game after 10 years isn’t going to motivate anyone to keep playing.

Just to let you guys know the current EXP rate is quite higher than release, especially as you get higher in levels.

In the closed beta the exp rate is increased depending on your level: 16-45 5x, 46-85 7x, 86-135 12x, 136-185 48x

The grind is gonna be terrible without the current EXP boost.

Totally agree man! In my first experience with Ragnarok I remember staying as a level 99 Hunter for at least 2/3 weeks before going for High Novice. Why? Damm, because took so much time to get there and I wanted to enjoy the max level (even if it was as a Hunter) for a while!!

And after that? Well… I played Ragnarok for more than 6 years in all kind of servers. I wish they keep the rates low, maybe not in a Korean level, but still.

The good thing is level 100 is like level 20 in ro.

A good player can rush to level 120+ at the first 8 hours …
It’s like how i had my first char which took 6 weeks to get to level 70 (hunter).

I had so much fun with people while gaming …

Then a year later i made an alt with an contest (naked).
6 hours to level 70 xD … knowing where to farm, which weapons to buy from loot. Where to loot etc. Makes it faster… and less fun.

I am playing BnS a bit atm … as a guildmate from old times invited me.
Level 22 in 2 days. Having a blast chatting while grinding quests with him for 2 hours a day atm.

We are total BNS noobs … but then we got to the first instance dungeon.
Group of 6 (we with level 21 the lowest, 24 the highest. Av 23.) … first midboss, half group dies. We stand.
Second midboss … uhh only we stand.
Last boss … i did the last 20% hp solo, as my mate was a summoner with low def/eva and hp xD…

Just having someone acutally listen to “Hey this red zone telegraphy thing… RUN!” was so hillarious.
Dunno how the non-noobs that sweared at us felt then xD.

Afaik im offtopic.

But yeah.
How did that one go.
“The goal is the joureny in itself.”

What’s there when you reach max level?
Can you remember fun things?
Had you laughed and cryed?

Offtopic again…
i browsed the BnS forum for info… Level 45 char on third day of realese.
“HEY ITS SO BORING! I CANT DO ENDGAME STUFF OR PVP! IT WOULD TAKE ME 2 WEEKS! TO FARM STUFF! Or 30 Gold somehow! I CANT MAKE MONEY!”

… i was … “WTF? Dude!”

The same as wildstar.
Level max in about 3 days time for some.
Then complain stuff is boring … ya better had done the quests… and funn wolrdboss fights with friends.

cough

1hour.

RO times.
Level 98 to 99= 2months.

Level 80~81= a few days if average.

I remember running around with friends, chatting and discussing things.
While farming at an area which was fast … about 2% Exp at level 90 per hour.
People were eyeing us with envy in our guild … then we made big party groups there xD. And wrecked havoc.

Frustration is only if you have the goal to be “MAX LEVEL”.
There cant be a frustration if you have fun in a game.
Grinding takes your midn off stuff and chatting elevates your happiness xD.

Low exp rates are good IF you can have a group and party all night long, talking and stuff…
My problem with low exp rates is because in iCBT and kOBT very few people want to party…

I always ask for party, but since the day I began playing kOBT, only 3 accepted.

That’s frustating for me, since 90% of the time I play alone :frowning:

And the few friends I got there, are at very high levels (190, 180) while my Sadhu is 105…

Shutup nerd, don’t justify un-realistic time demands

Wow dude…wow… just…wooooow…

xD it’s funny that people crying about the rates, first cbt was actually low… especially lvl 35~ 70+ Was HELL
a lot of people didn’t play the old glory ragnarok days were it took you YEARS for max lvl(casual), you would grind hours and hours for 00,1% and if you die you lose 1% that was anus as hell but also very rewarding and fun.

I remember those days. However, times have changed and people expect they HAVE to be max level to do stuff. Instead of doing tiers of that same stuff other games offer at max level during a leveling process. I’m excited just out of a “completionists” attitude for a slower leveling game. Gives me more time to explore all the things a map has to offer if I want to switch it up.

True that~

I remember grinding turtle island 1 and 3 for months, back when level 99 second job was the max xD.
But the gridn wasnt important.

Time spent chatting.
Finding people to party with.
Having fun.

Max Level?
End Game?

Wut?

I and lots of people just had fun, gaming.
We went and tested dangerous areas.
Climbed the pvp ladder … to fall horribly.
Suicided into WOE … just to manage to get a castle we cheated of an ally, which wanted to betray us.

“Yay for spys! They did betray us… but we were prepared xD! The EMPerium wasnt hit to low hp … MUHAHAHAHAHA!”

I have so many good and bad memorys outsid eof the actual game there…

Atm … people see Max level 45 BNS, as example.
Rush there in under 3 days.
Then go " … aww i cant do endgame stuff, i dont have the gear. I havent spent any time doing thes elow tier instances when they actually could have been fun. This game is boring~" xD.

For me, low rates are fine.
What matters, is that there’s more channels … and more monsters then.

Nothing more sucks like hell, then being forced to either wait … or channel swap if your lucky enough.

1~3 channels is just not enough … with these user counts. Except some heavy spawn areas.

Aka, people need to learn to enjoy a game.
Not to max a game.

Kids these days are to buttered up … from WOW and stuff like it.
Instant gratification.

Heck MVP cards or Normal cards in RO … that was stuff of dreams.
If you found some of thes ewithout spending bullshit amount of times on farming them.
You were rolling on the floor laughing manicaly… showing them off to friends … and sprawling about on the low level fields, doing max dps with your new qaud hydra composite bow … just to learn that it’s not the best dps possible… and then cry.

xD gooddddd ttimmmeee.

cough

i once dropped an ghostring card.
Sadly it was on a low rate (normal rate*3) pserver … people went dipshit about that for weeks xD.
Cause the gm’s weren’t selling stuff and having fun there … while EuRo had just died off a few months ago.

Having 500 people trying to trade with you … is a hassle each day. In the end, cause i din’t enjoy PvP that much (as support only~). I sold it off … for like a full pvp equip, which i lacked. + a few hundreth millions… and a whole batch of high grade pets… hrhr… pets … hrhr. Alice~ Succubus~ Good stuff~

ragnarok was my first mmorpg and it took me a month to get to level 35.
it was an old classic ragnarok w/o quests, taekwons/slingers/new moroc, old fashioned farming.
…years later i got the info that the rates on that server were x0,6

xD

first hunter level 55 … 2 months.

Years back, 8 hours an level 80 char fresh of the shop.

Difference in level grounds and skill ^^.

I think iw as only around payon the first 2 months, enjoying my noob days.
