Low FPS and performance overall

I am aware that there was already a low FPS thread a while ago, but this is for this current Beta session. My video card is a GTX 850M with an i7 4710HQ, which I am well aware that this should be plenty horsepower to run this game at max settings 1080p. When I do set those settings, end up with wildy fluctuating framerates ranging from 5-31 FPS. However, when I do turn the settings down, my performance still remains the same.

My friend, who has a better card than I do, an R9 285, and gets a constant 50-60 FPS. But I have been seeing people with High end cards, such as one person with a GTX 780ti getting the same performance as me.

I am not sure if it has something to do with having an AMD GPU vs Nvdia, but it does seem that many people agree that the game is poorly optimized.

I am very aware that this game is currently in Beta, so I hope this feedback helps with any framerate issues

EDIT: I’ll post what worked for me. As to make things easier for others, I will post a link to the program: http://www.razerzone.com/cortex

ToS currently running with 1 core CPU, i hope they will optimize better asap.
But for now, you can set launch option -dx11 for the game to force it run with multicore CPU

I did manage to find a fix. I ended up using Razer Cortex (formerly Razer Game Booster), and is jumped my fps from 5 - 31 fps, to a constant 60 fps!

how this work? pls dude D:

I had problems with fps too, after the last maintance my fps fell to 10, and yesterday I reached 30 fps with maximum config and I was playing well. A tried somethings, till the Razer Cortex and let the config in the least and nothing, sad ;(

Have you updated your graphics drivers lately? I had this issue with an AMD card in another game until I did, you can update them easily through the Steam (file) menu in the very top left corner of your Steam.

Edit: Ah you fixed it! Nevermind, advice might help others though.

Turning off Vsyinc helped me a lot! especially since this game’s default resolution is borderless fullscreen, your graphics driver settings will take over most performance related options :corn:

well in my case, i have okay ping n fps however, im having random spikes n delays whenever i visit new places or stuff like dat so pls make this game compatible for low spec pc tq

The game runs badly for most of us but not for a certain few.
It seems to be a waiting period that is the most punishment to us, as all of a sudden what I did a while ago, actually starts to happen later on.

i get a pretty huge spike in FPS and performance as well my FPS seems to vary around 15 - 250 at random intervals. running a AMD Radeon 7970/R9 200 series and an AMD FX Vishera 8 core CPU 4.5GHz so i could see some fixes coming soon for this as it is just beta. hopefully its a bit more consistent at least with the FPS i can deal with a semi crap performance that can be understandable in highly populated areas. but the constantly fluctuating change in my FPS is driving me insane.

Yea, I tried many of the above fixes to improve fps, such as turning v-sync off and updating drivers, but to no avail. I remembered that I had used Razer Cortex before, so I hoped it would work, and it did. It seems that this game isn’t as heavy on the GPU as my readings seem to show very little GPU load. My CPU usage is higher, so that seems to be the problem. By disabling unnecessary processes, and using those freed up resources to run ToS, it helps with performance a lot. That is basically how Razer Cortex works.

On another note: it seems that AMD cards seem to have an advantage over Nvidia cards on this game. But that’s just my hypothesis, I haven’t looked into it more.

yeaaah same! i have like GT 740m but im getting like 20 - 30 fps… how is that possible? I can run Dota 2 in max settings without any lag and in 40 - 50 fps so i think i can run this game without any problems… how is that possible? Please help how to fix this. its bugging me…

I edited the OP that added a possiblr fix for the game that worked for me, so I hope it does work for you. Like I said in previous posts before, it may not be a gpu problem, since it doesn’t rely very much on gpu power, you just need to alocate resources towards running the game

well i tried using the Razer Cortex but still no use… I still get 10 - 30 fps… oh well… I tried everything I can… I am giving up for now.

well after the recent update, everything became okay and very nice as i love it!! however, its still kinda laggy and delay-ish together with the lag if there is waaaaaay too many people online in one server

make sure to close all internet tabs running in the background or other applications while playing the game, this alone often makes you jump from 30 to 60 fps in the game.

if that doesnt work go to D©:\Steam\steamapps\common\TreeOfSavior\release, open user.xml with notepad. change Resolution mode=“1” to “0”. this will prevent alt tabbing from working but it seems to run the game in a different type of full screen mode which should be better optimized for your pc.

thx for the tips but is there any way to make tree of savior run in windowed mode wif 800x600 res? cuz dats how i play ragnarok online and it might also improve tos performance imo
