Grinding in the field is so painful compared to grinding in dungeons. It’s too big of a difference in rewards and exp.
It’s not really a question of unlimited vs limited - the question should be whether the limit is reasonable. A limit is fine so long as it’s a reasonable limit. 1+1 is definitely unreasonable lol. Unlimited is also way too much (but I see where it -may- be reasonable if it just allows you to farm items and not exp).
As to what number is reasonable, I’ll leave the nitty gritty for now. But the bottomline is that it must be reasonable in implementation and in consideration of all the relevant factors - how much exp it gives, how far it encourages party play vs solo queue, inflation, quality of dungeon design, non-dungeon alternatives etc.
Actually 1+1 would be the best solution.
Dungeon drops would be rare and lvl up wouldnt be so ez which give the developer more time to create more content. Furthermore Ppl wouldnt just log in for dungeon runs “Tree of Dungeon”.
But its risky to do it since most ppl dont wanna grind ( Idk why they would bother with TOS than) and quit the game.
I think the current 2+2 is a good balance. I think it would be pretty bad if people without tokens could only do 1 dungeon.
Isnt it 2+1 currently??
Pretty sure 2+2 was said last week.
Actually I agree about dungeon limit, it is a great idea to control items flow and exp rewards while doing dungeons. Othe way it will be Tree of Dungeons and no one will grind ever since exp in Dgns is way better than exp in open world.
One thing im not sure on even though I’ve been supporting the dungeon limit. Is is 2+2 per dungeon? Between all dungeons? Per character? Per account?
So can i do 4 lower level dungeons and 4 higher level dungeons or just 2 of each? Also can I do the 4 dungeons on 1 character, then do 4 more on a different one?
I’m pretty certain it’s:
Character: 2 dungeons per day, no matter what dungeon. +2 if you have used a Token on that server.
As someone who did 4 dungeons in a row because I did them close to the reset hour, 4 in one day is tiresome but extremely worth it. If I could do four in one day, every day, I wouldn’t waste time in the fields ever.
Don’t get me wrong. Party Finder is a good system. Look at FFXIV; that Party Finder (The Duty Finder) is fantastically well done. I just don’t agree with the fact of “It has to be done solo” in ToS currently.
Edit: … Why did it quote me? Oh well. @greenfoxy21
[3/26/2016 Update]
Client is updated to kToS updates, as of last week's patch. Dungeon and mission entrances are set to 2 normal and +1 with token in all locations now. Microphone cost reduced from 2TP back to 1TP. Soul Crystal (item that allows resurrect in place) cost increased from 3TP to 4TP. Frost cloud now has a maximum number of enemies it can hit at once, which is limited to 10 + skill level.
Taken from:
This was handled well on Dragon Nest SEA by Cherrycredits. What they did is still let players do dungeons even if their FTG(stamina) is already at 0. The downside is, if you do runs at 0 FTG, the item drop rate is significantly reduced. Experience is retained.
they need to increase the dungeon limit by a bit, 2 is too little
Currently it is believed to be 2+1 per character shared between dungeons…
There is one problem with the limit. If EXP from dungeons was the same as EXP from other activities, there would be no point in limits. But right now it’s 6 times higher. And generally dungeons are boring. So I don’t think it’s too bad.
If they add some harder dungeons I’d rather use all my dungeon run for 1 run in a harder dungeon. I really don’t like the idea of being forced to complete the same dungeon over and over again just because it gives so much EXP comparing to anything else. I think IMC did it to somewhat limit players growth speed so they are able to make more content while players busy levelling. Lowering dungeon runs limit is much better than reducing EXP rate.
When the game evolves and they add some more content dungeon runs limit won’t be necessary anymore and devs would most probably remove it.
So don’t bother too much about it and just enjoy the game.
Also don’t forget that you will most likely want to play dungeons with randoms for max exp.
The good solution would be adding some “free” runs with 100% exp and lower drop rate instead of 600%. This will allow players who really love repeating the same thing over and over again to run dungeons as much as they want.
Another good solution would be 5+2 dungeons per day account wide.
Limiting freedom? Lololol
No one will grind in open worlds even if we had 1+1.
People would just roll alts and log out as soon as they did 2 runs so their EXP books wouldn’t run out.
Reading all your replies you all make valid points actually. However if they don’t remove the limit I’d like it if they increased the rewards and exp you get from doing field grinding as it is bad right now.
The problem is ( or at least was) not the exp from fields… It is the mob density.
The field-mobs exp is actually fine, but it’s a nightmare to try to grind on the fields because there are no good spots. That’s why instanced dungeons are so good: they have good amount of mobs that gives tons of exp.
IMO, as I said on the beginning of this topic, we should have something between 3~5 runs without the option to buy more entrances. Paying or non-paying, everyone should have the same amount of runs. But after reading that we can get a lot of bonus exp with the matchmaking (something like 450% and that is way better than the exp rate from icbt2), I think that 2~3 (again, without the option to buy more runs with money) runs should be more than enough to make this game not turn into Tree of Dungeon…
BUUUT…it’s just my opinion right now… I’ll wait to see if that’s enough when the game launches on Tuesday.
agree, that would be troublesome for who have tiny time for gaming.
