Limited Hidden Class

…Why not just make hidden classes a sort of “hidden destiny” quest?

The class itself is not necessarily hidden, but limited to how many people get the option per whatever-time-period to per chance ‘awaken’ to the quest at a very, very low rate, with the requirements for the actual quest being something the developers/staff mix up in their spare time in order to keep it fresh for each new ‘access period’? This could eliminate the creation of guides as the quest itself could end within a certain time-out period and pass to the next randomized person for as long as the quest itself is made available to the players–let’s say, for one week out of every three months, the quest is to contact the physical manifestation of the Ninja code of Honor, or some other relevant but equally situational lore? Each time, giving a small scrap of a story that allows that individual to dive down the path of the Ninja without being something replicated constantly, making the quests vary between challenges and puzzles for any user to cobble together for themselves?

Do forgive my silly notions, I’ve been known to be romantic about these things.

imagine all players who got templar class suddenly quit the game…
bye bye guild creation

I don’t think they should limit any classes, I think they should just make them stupidly difficult to get, possibly with randomized factors per player doing the quest.

After all, where this idea of “hidden class” came from ?
I don’t think there is any of that. Why we arguing about it ?

aparently the originial ver.1.0 Final Fantasy11 (1st mmo of ff titles) had hidden classes according to old articles in the internet

If you’re asking whether they have been confirmed or not. There are several links in this thread that show devs confirming that the hidden classes exist, but are not sure of how they will implement them.

But, i dont really mind, there are tons of classes already in the game, plus the ones that will come yet, why should we worry about a competitive one ? I’m not really a competitive player at mmos. But if people really want to know about these, they should wait. IMC will provide with all information in due time.

Hamper the class access [OK]
Limit the access to the class [NO]

They can create a rank system that only the best could access the class. So all people would compete to use the class, but still the classe would be accessive to everyone.

This would be a very interesting mechanic in the case of Templar hidden class (a class that can create guilds), because only a few people who have achieved the requirements could create a guild. Following that logic, if you want create a guild, you need to work hard to reach those requeriments and make your place on the rank.

I am actually pretty intrigued by this. I’m really hoping that it’s what it seems to be–that there really are classes that only a few get to achieve. I hope they’re extremely hard to get. I hope to be one of them, of course, who wouldn’t? There are different ways that they could be limiting them other than just via quests and achievements… maybe only a certain window of time… or server wide achievements to unlock them. Who knows? I’m looking forward to learning more about it as we go forward.

he was stuck in the game wat u expect him to do lol xD

I love these, especially the server wide achievements—it’s a magnificent idea. If that were the case, the whole community would have to work together to unlock that secret quest. Or, if it were unlocked by accident. Either one would be exciting. I encountered something similar with hunting rare marks in FFXIV, it was actually fun having the whole server work together to make that rare monster spawn. The zerg rush that followed afterwards, however, that wasn’t fun. lol

Haha I’m a XIV player too.

The game has such potential for being a real gem. I love the art style and the possibility there for a world that has lush lore and an inviting story (depending on how they decide to go with it!). I’m really looking forward to seeing how these thing are implemented and how the community develops.

I mean how cool would it be to be part of the server that unlocks something or part of a guild that has a genuinely unique hero? Sure, I might be a little bummed if I am not on of the people who gets a “limited” hidden class, assuming we’re right about how they’re doing it, but it’ll be so cool to meet the players who DO get it. I can’t think of any game that really offers something like that.

You always have NPCS who are ‘legendary,’ it would be really cool if we could have players who are just as unique as storyline NPCs/characters.

The art and the lore are what attracted me to this game, too. As well the music; for a gamer to be immersed in enjoyable game play, story, beautiful music and scenery… it’s an experience I rarely come across. All of this combined with playing with your friends and guildmates is why I play MMOs. And why I prefer it over single player RPGs.

Being part of that group of players that unlocked something so sought after would be wonderful! Actually being one of the few that receive and get to play that secret class would be indescribable… IMC did a good job coming up with these “secret classes”. Hopefully, one day, one of us will become one of those people—a legendary adventurer with a unique class!

So, good luck to us both! Haha

Some of the random and unachievable nonsense in Ragnorok Online really hurt that game for me, so I hope they don’t do stuff like that in Tree of Savior. Making a class legitimately arduous to unlock is one thing, but locking out content based on when people are available or if they even knew the game existed at the time, is dumb as hell. Just look to Maplestory for how bad an idea it is.

Maybe the hidden classes could have their quests redone after a set period of time passed and/or an x number of players completed it ? Changing the NPCs, their location and the requirements of the quest after 150 players have become a shinobi or if two weeks have passed since the first shinobi of this cycle was created, something like that, would retain their hidden status and (somewhat) their exclusivity. Yeah, it could require a lot of work, but a method like this wouldn’t limit those classes to elite players or veterans and the exploring would remain active.

I think this is a good idea to limit the amount of players to achieve the hidden classes during CBT phases but should not be limited during the official release of the game taking the idea as a bragging rights between the 5000 players :3

like giving out polls based on players’ opinions/recommendations…

hm…well, if thats the case (but i think its not) then i just want to have my shepherd…the only secret class i want, to be fair i dont even know if its going to be a secret class, but if it is, then i will work the fast as i can to get it xD

Sorry for the bump, but the most recent 4gamer report for JP TOS confirms that hidden classes will NOT be limited in terms of number of players. So long as you complete the conditions for the job change (albeit they may be more difficult), you will be able to change into the class. Hope that this clarifies it a bit.

Text (JP):
なお人数上限を設定した隠しクラスが存在するとの噂が一部に流れているが,これは誤りで,あくまでも転職に必須となる条件の達成が難しいだけともつけ加えていた。

Well if there is no limit then there is no point on it being a hidden class since sooner of later guides will come out anyway.

Well a couple of ideas to make hidden class feasible:

-Only a limited amount of player can get the quest at a time (about 10 a week tops)
-Quest is very hard and has a time limit (If you didn’t complete it, you lose the quest and have to get it again)
-There is a hidden class license that expires per month (So you can be a ninja for like 60 days only and you have to reapply for licence although your level still remains)
-The quest involves a very rare drop for a very rare boss (so doesn’t matter if a lot of people knows the quest but all of them will be hampered by the drop rate)
-The kind of hidden class quest shuffles per season based.
-Make the quest a tiered system based, 1000 can first get the quest, first 500 to finish can get the second quest (limit to 250) and so on until only a handful can change.
-Or you know, the cash part =.=
