This is pretty much it. If you arent in some super rush. Just doing missions/dungeons will let you skip over most grindy spots that you see people doing. This and wise use of XP cards.
Yes. I should have been more precise and added “per day” as this is what I meant
Grinded all the way to Lv162, skipped Dina Bee Grinding and pop Exp cards to 179 for Rank 6. Then stuck at 179 to 186 for around 5 days 
Lv190 dungeon have 2 boss so exp is decent again. Lv190 to Lv200 in 3 days.
How did you spend those 5 days to get from 179 to 186?
After completing the available quests, just had to wait for daily mission and dungeon resets.
Daily mission & dungeon exp will get lower and lower while searching for pt time gets longer. Pass Lv210 i have stopped running it completely except for Boss rush.

so here’s the big question: Do i use all my level 8 and some level 9 to get from 170 - 186?
Use cards to stay within 5 levels of the maps you quest on, do daily dungeons/missions and you’re good, don’t fall for the saving cards meme.
you only start grinding by 210±230+
