Leather vs Plate

So, which one would you use? My main status is the str, but some people say that leather is a better choice anyway. Any opinions?

Thanks

Most will say plate as we are lacking in hp due to low con gain. 3p is about an extra 1-2 k hp thorw on 4p and you have 15 % dmg reduction. Leather I would only recomend if you are heavy or full dex. Leather gear tends to be more dps oriented so it really comes down to you. Hell Ive seen archers in cloth because â– â– â– â–  magic

the most dangerous mobs in this game are ranged ones, and piercing attacks do extra damage to leather…

Go plate man.

Ranged attacks don’t do piercing damage, they do missile damage.

Also I’m pretty sure the most dangerous mobs in the game are the magic ones, who’s attacks can’t be blocked or avoided at all.

…though I still agree, as a leather user, I feel like plate is probably better.

Stab (Pierce)
Deals 50% additional damage against leather armor.
Suffers a 25% damage penalty against cloth armor.
Suffers a 25% damage penalty against ghost armor, like all physical damage types.
Note: Spears, 2h spears, daggers and rapiers all deal stab damage, as well as numerous **

Archer classes skills and some Swordsman classes skills

We can always do 3 p plate 1 p leather as leather gloves tend to gives us more dmging skills.

You can do that, but you need to exchange tops to change armour type,

Example: Plate top, Leather Bottom, gloves, and boots.

“Numerous archer class skills” does not equal “all ranged attacks.”

Yes, some archer class skills are ranged, and yes some of those ranged skills do Piercing damage (or the equivalent).

This is not the case for all of them, and in my experience its not even the case for most of them. Maybe that distinction would be relevant in PVP when you’re fighting fletchers and things, but NPC mobs? Never mind being an issue, it’s probably not even going to come up.

Leather for PVE, Plate for PVP.

Since you’ll be farming your Virtov leather set in 240 dun, you’ll certainly end up with plate parts too, no harm in crafting those that are craftable and switch when needed.

If you use the last version of exp addon you can see what damage type is the best agains every enemy, its, element type, hp, armor type, etc.

Works on my build, but I cant say that for all archers ranks skills, only for ranger, archer, and fletchers skills.
