Lancer skills, attribute theory-crafting, and ideas SHARING thread

I will go first. No flamming gawd damn it.

Disclaimer: This is not a guide thread, this is a sharing thread. Some of the information I shared below might be wrong.

Skill/level
Crush, level 1
Quintain level 4
Unhorsing level 1
Joust level 4
Deployment 5

For attributes I would prolly leave them at a reasonable 30%. Then in order of priority:

  1. Crush debuff to level 2.
  2. Quintain to 50% or better.
  3. Joust to 50% or btter.
  4. max out Crush debuff to level 5.
  5. sell a kidney.

Crush and Quintain are high damage. The debuff atrribute is very appealing but also very expensive starting at 5XX,XXX silver.

My primary irritation right now is the small hitbox for Crush and Quintain. I seem to prefer to push Goon and Cata skills due to better probability of hits when grinding at Temesomething. Or maybe I am just unable to aim properly as I am on keyboard control mode.

Joust on itself is meh for damage. It will shine at PVP due to the silence ability. Slightly better hitbox than Crush and Quintain, still underwhelming when it comes to hitbox and area covered by the “surge” forward.

Deployment is very good for PvE. For PvP, a Goon2 tried to hit me with it and the block rate is underwhelming. Goon2 had 350 DEX, no idea if that is supposed to matter. (wishful thinking: higher circle attribute is magic block)

No, I have not tried the knockback attribute yet. Too expensive to be practical for me right now. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Other guys who got duped into going Lancer are welcome to post their ideas and skill builds. Also welcome are those with only Envy and without a Lancer. :stuck_out_tongue:

Seems more like a guide though.

Anyway, information sharing looks more like…
1.) joust is multihit (synergy with restrain)
2.) unhoursing is multihit ONLY on mounted chars (synergy with restrain)
3.) unhoursing have decent range (3-4 player distance, not as good as dethrone)
4.) all lancer skills have no inate AAR (aoe attack ratio) it’s hard to mob with it.
5.) crush and quantain have fast animation,can land both on knockdown duration.

6.) unhoursing works on enemies pain barrier

7.) unhoursing a rushing cataphract with pain barrier doesnt end rush :C

I heard that Deployment got a hidden attribute.It allow lancer to block enemys attack even though lancer equip Two-hand spear.Is it true? bug?

Yes it can block physical attack. Not sure if its a bug or by design.

Lancer seems like a high skill cap build for PvP

If I’m right, block rate is countered by block pen, and block pen is boosted by STR stat-wise. If the Goon2 was a Cata, the 2h spear block pen attribute might have helped as well.

this is your main combo
you knock someone down then you crush+quintain, this is the best way to do it and how i won against many players in TBL (when it didn’t crash ofc) because it gives you time to cast crush and quintain right after that and if you’re lucky that restrain will proc. I suggest everyone to get the crush attribute debuff as soon as possible, it reduces not only the defense by 50% but physical ATTACK by 50%, one you hit a goon c2 with a crush his damage is crippled. I am trying different methods of beating dragoon c2 dueling with my dragoon c2 guild mate and i will ofc share my experiences with you later and make demonstrations with videos from what i have seen so far deployment/initiate is definitely a skill to be maxed.
as i previously announced i will soon make a guide that will touch upon all of this, as i’m reaching class lvl 15 (im class lvl 13 now)
the rank 8 section of the guide will be added later though. Since we only played rank 8 1 week i’m not more informed than you guys on lancers :slight_smile:

So, you guys have the same skill build/distribution?

My strategy for my skill build is no strategy. It seemed ok at the time I was popping bonus level 14 map completion cards. Was more excited to try stuff than research. Will prolly do a skill reset, as soon as I leech of your inputs. heh.

Got to class 15 at level 309. So. Er. When is rank 9 coming out?

i’m lvl 306 and class 13 i think ill get class 15 today, but i don’t think i’m more obligated than you to make a lancer guide just yet which is why i will not finish the rank 8 section of the guide until i fully research and test the class.
rank 9 won’t come out in at least 6 month probably.

I have joust and quantain as max, I have yet to see how inintiate works in TBL. At Lancer C3, it’s highly likely that I will reset as well, quantain+crush could probably replaced by a less gimicky damage skills.

At the end of it I might have
14 joust
15 initiate
1 unhourse
10 c2skill
5 c3skill

i would highly suggest you take at least 1 point into unhorsing and crush
crush has an attribute that reduces enemy physical defense AND physical ATTACK by 50% (which can cripple goon c2)
unhorse is also an amazing skill against other mounted players who don’t have it, it’s very useful and only a 1 pointer
the difference between a lvl 13 joust and lvl 15 joust isn’t that huge you know.
Crush and unhorse are basically 1 pointers that can cripple your enemy.
also crush+quintain is very very strong, it only takes 1 point into crush to make your quintain SO MUCH stronger ( its more than double the damage with crush and the attribute)

Just another tip, imaple + unhoursing is awesome combo learned it while dueling :grin:

don’t sacrifice your dueling abilities for 2 more points into joust buddy i just wanna help :stuck_out_tongue:

don’t get me wrong i do have those skills since start, only wrong allocation on C3. :sweat_smile:

just wondering will unhorsing be counter by pain barrier ?

what server are you? we cantest it right now.

not that i’m aware of, good question i will test this and give you an answer as soon as i can probably tomorrow.
My prediction is now because unhorsing is not the same as a knockdown/back but we never know.

tested it, u can unhourse but no animation.

ty for testing it out, when you mean no animation, is that mean the target can still be able to move around or just stand still for one to two second? I am from Orsha

Also, Joust doesn’t seem to silence Mage-type mob in the new map. I am still eating their Pole of Agony left and right.
