Yeah… its true… but i dont think 1 extra stat make a lot of difference… its mostly preliminary to give an idea of what roughly will be… the extra stat makes very little impact and am sure rjgtav will make in the, hopefully , near future a proper one with way more options and way more accurate…

The issue is how to follow up the class with this kind of concept. Linker already struggles with skills being a wizard class, i don’t see it improving that easily.

Struggle? Ended up being one of the best supports to have in a party. Only the share damage aspect were broken and got nerfed to hell.

Maybe the class could use ropes only to gather and keep mobs in a specific place, not to properly share damage, but increasing damage received. That would be nice, I guess. Using this mechanic also allow the class to be placed in any build, in theory, cause will not require any specific weapon.

In the end, I’m just trying to find a good way to place Linker there. Can’t wait to see what will be done, cause both Linker and Enchanter are too out of place for me.

I can surf the New Thauma wave. Might end up being good, specially now that has quicken.

In the skill variety department, the only skill with proper scaling are Joint Penalty and Spiritual Shock (that joined 2y past release), all the remaining skills have duration as leveling factor and they didn’t came up with anything new to compensate that. What i meant there is that Linker’s theme is quite narrow in wizard, and it can make use of magic, so taking it to Scout is unlikely to make it that better to receive new skills.

I don’t understand your issues with Scout using magic. You have gimmick and enchantment spells in the Scout tree, which reminds me of a few games I played before, like Neverwinter Nights, Dragon Age Origins, Guild Wars 2, Skyrim… Btw:

I m ok with shinobi casting some magical skill, is just when I first saw shinobi i am more thinking of stealth physical type and those magic would be more a elemental boost on damage.
It orginally place in swordsman tree, using other swordmans skill just feel it is more warrior type than stealth covert, but now it place in scout tree, with rogue and the outlaw? class, it could finally make a shinobi 47

  1. Scout has no magic scaling
  2. Cleric is already magic/physical hybrid, if they add magic to scout they are stealing the Class identity of Cleric

Can I have my Thauma class title turn into Heisenberg please please please.
Joke aside, i think it end up how IMC rework those skill, if they keep like spiritual chain, yeah I feel very wizardry, but if it is some kind of psycho-chain, I think it would not be an issue keeping within the theme

…and you do remember that shinobi had stealth via diversion skills such as katon and mijin, plus it was an way to make an diferent approach to the game since we didn’t had an steath based to warrior without taking out the main characteristics of rougue and scout. now we have a separated class tree just to focus on that.

Say that to Featherfoot that use bones to stab in meele range being a wizard…

The developers don’t seem to care, cause Bokor also stabs the doll with a nail and Bwa Kayiman is a physical damage skill on Wizard now…

I think if IMC take the historical ninja as its base, they can create a quit fitting shinobi as part of the scout tree. Just keep in mind Ninja were a really knowledged and skilled group of people. They could use technique dein , because they have knowledge with is surveiled from the common people. To the ouside everything looks like magic and mythical stuff but in the end they are just small tricks. Create huge fireballs by using bombs or “lightning” by creating an spark through rubbing you head on a balloon. Maybe you get what I mean.

Linker is too much of a Wizard in theme to be taken away as the chains are pure magic, opposed to a possible steroid like power source of Thauma, and they can’t revamp the class to be something completely different that can be justified by its theme. Worst case scenario they’ll include an enchanted chain item to be used on every single skill or some flimsy explanation for this kind of magic that will still feel out of place as it starts from Scout.[/quote]
It is just the priming. Just ignoring the current skill set of the Linker class and you should be able to think Linker in a more open way. The Linker should link something, maybe information which every single party mate collect to create a more advantage situation for your own party. This is something the Linker can achieve by psychological tricks.

Linker kind of does its job just fine though, and will continue to do that job just fine in scout. Link + Joint penalty on a mob, followed by a bullet marker’s Bloody Overdrive or a Shinobi explosion is going to destroy enemies just as hard as Kundela slash ever did. The only thing they’re likely to be missing is Transpose and Physical link combo, but maybe there’s other things Phys link can share.

Why would Joint Penalty, Hangman’s Knot, Spiritual Chain and Lifeline need magic scaling? Don’t forget they’re reworking skills and attributes, so Thaum and Enchanter skills will probably work in a different way. Maybe they won’t have stat scaling anymore, maybe they’ll be based on a percentage value of your weapon’s attack.

That makes no sense at all. It’s like saying Swordsman and Archer classes steal the identity of each other because they’re physical dmg dealers, when they deal physical damage in a different way (one is melee, the other is medium/long range). Wouldn’t Scout steal the class identity of Swordsman if they were physical dmg only if we follow your logic?

Bokor stabbing the doll with a nail is a voodoo curse. It’s a ritual, not a physical attack, so the damage dealt to an enemy is magical.

Zombies dealing magic-type damage when they attack is weirder.

does anyone have a clue of what are the 2 new classes for scout?
The only thing that comes to mind is sheriff/outlaw from mid-west movies and the all famous thief.
If they push Rogue to be more like an assassin, thief could have stealing skills, destroying magic circles (as in disarming traps), evasion, gas bombs…

well, should they put some effort into it, they can change linker to a device user, and not a magical user, like fabricio said. (i don’t thinkt hey will, mind you, knowing IMC they’ll just toss it on scout tree and be done with it) and while at it, a minor rework on skill textures and some retexturing of skills could be done, like:

make joint penalty a “lasso” - rope like, or wired like
have a electric taser look for mind shock
send some glowing wire trough enemies, like a red hot wire, or a flaming chain (ghost rider style)

should they put the effort they could go nuts with linker, but they just never bothered i guess, since joint penalty just works, and JP+HK is a strong combo enough to justify speccing into the class.

Kiddos not remembering how powerful a dual/multi class thief/mage was in AD&D. Grats that is scout.

You failed to realize his point.

We already face roll things with safety zone.

Is still using swordmans skill mostly, and I think shinobi with scout and rogue and corsair make a very good RP build
If you do RP with you alt, I guess you would understand what I am trying to express
