Correction : High DPS output only for early game.
Your final damage = 385 damage at level 5 + physical attack + damage attribute. The most damage you can deal with level 100 damage attribute is 2k damage (Elite mobs at higher level maps have much more HP and you canāt 1 hit KO them). And you must āchargeā in order to deliver 100% damage, so you will have trouble with aggressive mobs. Highlander is only worth to take at least c2 or c3.
So far, Barbarian & Highlander are the best class from Swordsman in terms of raw damage output only if they are taken at least at c2.

If you go solo, yes.
I was doing some sword, high, barb, barb, barb, fencer in icbt2.
The think is cartar stroke was still usefull lategame.
Itās stupidly weak if you hit it up as it is, against a single target.
But if you can mob and knock back ā¦ that base dps is even good at level 1~3.
Against a wall or in large density dungeons. That skill is really usefull.
If we had a circle moreā¦ i would have gone.
sword, high, barb, barb, pel, fencer, fencer.
As tank build with aggro management.
Barb two only for frenzy, if that was circle 1ā¦ iwouldnt even go barb 2.
Cleave stun combo is good enough dpsā¦
barbarian c2 c3 are not bad even not as best as highlander c2 c3. the only i dislike is cd too long for barbarian and highlander has more advantages at attack skills with 0 cd. but speaking the output damage compare to other non swordman classes, swordman classes still worst one.
Yeah, but things are different now. There are elite mobs feature and some high level maps that have tons of strong tanky-aggressive mobs, especially level 200++ map. Thatās the kind of late game Iām talking about.
I personally would go for Sword c1-Peltasta c1-Barbarian c3-Fencer c2 build.
With Barbarian c3, you can still compete with other classes in terms of damage. Frenzy level 10 gives you 400 bonus physical attack at max for every single of your DPS skill, which means additional 400 damage. Helm Chopper-Cleave combo will deal a lot of damage.

Just to add a point of view so IMC wonāt only take 1 side of opinion, I believe comparing current Swordman to old Archer is rather out of context.
First thing first, peviously archers are completely adding no significant value to a team (both PVE and PVP). You may as well have a team comprising no archer. With the current patch, nonetheless, weād rather have 1 swordman and 4 archers than 5 archers in a team.
Secondly, do not forget that the reason one class is being buffed is because they used to be unnecessarily weaker than another. If you decide to buff swordmen, another class will be weaker again. Then the game of buffing will be endless and our game will stride even further for the utopia of balance.
Thirdly, do not forget that you have mentioned about TOSā main point being the āroleā part in the RPG and please hold on to that idealism.
